You are the in the hall of the school during the break, and you witness that your close
classmate is teasing and even beating a younger boy, who is weaker and can’t fight
back. Then the teacher comes, stops the fight and tries to explain the situation.
He/She asks you about it. What do you tell him/her about it?
You say that you didn’t see anything .
You say that the weaker boy started to tease and beat your friend.
You are very sorry and you say that your friend began to beat and tease the
younger boy .
You have to write a very important report. The teacher of English gave you a
week to write it. What do you do?
During the week you analyze the topic of the essay, you think how to write it, you
brainstorm and finally you write it yourself.
You talk with your parents and classmates about the ideas of writing it, you look for
suggestions in different books, you ask for help and write it.
On the last day you write the topic of the essay in the google page and look for
similar reports. Then you copy the best one for you.
You are in the corridor of the school and you find a mobile phone. You can see that
it is the latest type, just the one you love! What do you do?
You look for the owner and ask different students. When you can’t find the owner,
you give notice about the found phone on the information board .
You ask only your closest classmates about the phone.
You hide the mobile phone into your school bag and you don’t say anybody about it.
You love drawing and painting and are trying to enter the Arts Academy but it is
a very selective school. What do you think to do:
Improve your skills and try hard by studying and practising.
Improve your skills and try the entry test, if you fail this time you can try again.
Try the test once, if you fail you’ll try something else.
You are at an important audition for a reality show. You love
singing but your performance is poor. How do you face the
situation?
The judges don’t like your performance, so you think they will send you home.
The judges don’t like your performance, but you try to convince them you can
improve your skills.
The judges don’t like your performance, they don’t understand your talent.
You are in a swimming centre because you want to attend a swimming
course. The other members seem to be very good and confident. What are
your feelings?
You think you can do it without any help.
You think you can improve your skills and do better. You will ask for help if you
need it.
You think you can do it if someone helps you.
You forgot to do your homework. Do you…
Pretend you didn’t know about it.
Tell the teacher and do it at lunchtime.
Lie and say you left it at home.
You are at a friend’s house playing with a toy and you
accidently break it. Do you…
Hide the pieces down the back of the sofa.
Tell your friend his little sister broke it.
Tell your friend you broke it and say sorry.
You see your friends smoking after school. Do you…
Stay with them and share the cigarettes.
Go on your way home and tell your parents.
Stay with them but don’t smoke.
You have just arrived to school in the morning and you notice a new
colleague sitting on your place. What are you doing?
Starting to shout on him to move away because that was you place before him
to come.
Starting to talk to him because you want to know who is it, where he comes
from and why is sitting on your place.
Looking for you best friends to talk about this “strange character”.
It is Sunday morning and your mother says your grandparents will
come to have lunch with you and your family even you planned to go
to Zoo with your best friend. What are you doing?
Starting to cry and beg your mum not to change your plan.
Starting to think to a plan B in order to escape from the family lunch.
Calling your friend and explain her you will go to Zoo another time.
You are travelling by bus sat on a chair next to the window. An old lady carrying a
bag is standing next to you and she is saying to someone that her legs hurt. What
do you do?
You look out of the window ignoring her (after all you didn’t notice her getting on
the bus).
You invite her to take your sit .
You pretend you have a terrible stomachache (so all the people in the bus will feel
sorry for you and you can continue your travel on your seat) .
Your team is about to take part in a relay race, but one student
in your team is a person with physical disabilities and you are
afraid that you are going to lose the race. What do you do?
You send him off the team.
You let him stay in knowing that you may lose.
The team leaders cooperate, so the race may be a draw.
Your class decide to make a newspaper. One of the students
cannot cooperate, but he tries to excel and show off. What do
you do?
You expel him from the team, because you can’t stand his behaviour .
You tell your teacher about it and ask to give him a notice.
The team tries to solve the problem explaining to the student that such a project
needs team work to be successful.
The directors of the school company want to expand the
company and sell the products abroad. What is the best way
to do it?
They try to do online sales by himself.
They ask the other partner schools to promote their products.
They cooperate with the other schools and discuss about the possibilities of the
venture to succeed.
At the hospital.
A disable person steps into a hospital and speaks to the secretary, standing behind the
desk. In the corner, a father and his son are standing. Suddenly the boy speaks out:
‘’Look dad, that person is walking weird’’.
The handicapped man hears the little boy.
What does the father do?
- The father ignores the situation, and turns his eyes away from the handicapped man.
-The father takes his son outside, and yells at him. The little boy begins to cry.
- The father takes his son over to the handicapped man, and tells his son to apologize.
The Muslim girl Fatima can´t go to Clara´s birthday, which
is held in a swimming pool. Fatima can´t go because her
parents think there will be boys attending the birthday.
Fatima is really sad because she can´t go.
What do you do?
You encourage Fatima to lie to her parents and go to the birthday.
Accept the religions rules and comfort Fatima.
Ignore Fatima’s sadness.
You see an elder woman, with a shopping bag, which looks
very heavy.
You help the elder woman by carrying the bag .
You ignore her .
You kick her so she falls .
Imagine one of your teachers has asked you and three classmates to develop a group-work
project about a specific subject, what would be the best way to produce/develop the
group-work project:
The group decides who does what for the project, each member develops his/her
specific task and at the end they unite all parts.
The group decides who does what for the project, each member develops his/her
specific task and presents it.
The group decides who does what for the project but all member help each other to
develop the project as a whole.
Imagine you want to develop a new project at your school but don’t have all the
materials/equipment needed, what do you do next?
Ask your superiors for the missing materials and hope they can find a solution.
Contact your superiors, colleagues and external entities to see if anyone can
establish partnerships to help the project with the materials needed.
Since you can’t find the materials needed, you just decide the project can’t move
forward.
Your teacher has asked each member of your class to build something for an arts
project. One of your colleagues is having some trouble, but your construction is
almost finished, what do you do next:
Conclude your project so that it is finished and if you have enough time, you go
help your colleague.
The constructions are individual work, so you just conclude your own work.
Go give your colleague some help and/or suggestions so that he/she is not so far
behind, you’ll still have plenty of time to conclude your own work.
You are working on a project and your teacher tells you 'If at first you
don't succeed, try, try again!' What are they telling you to do?
This means that your best is good enough. Have a try and hand in your project.
This means keep trying at the project, even if you get it wrong at first, you mustn't
give up.
This means that if it is too hard for you, you don't have to do it.
You are working on a science experiment melting an ice
cube. How does an ice cube melting compare to reaching
your goals?
The ice cube will never give up until it is completely melted; hard work is the only
thing that will ensure I reach my goals.
The ice cube changes shape; if a task is too hard you should change the goal .
The ice cube only melts when it is hot; I will only reach my goals if I am helped.
How did JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter stories,
show perseverance?
JK Rowling wrote her first story about a Rabbit when she was 6 years old.
JK Rowling continued writing even though she was a single parent family with no
income.
JK Rowling has written magical stories about boy called Harry Potter.

Case number 3: Be considerate of older people's well-being (Article fom the Wiki How). The
reality of the human body is that it deteriorates as we age. Different people age differently,
according to their genes, lifestyle choices and life's experiences and so you will find some
elderly are much fitter and daredevil than others who are forced to live with illness or
medical conditions. It is only proper that fit and healthy younger generations show respect
the reality of the human body's growing frailty in ways that acknowledge the younger
person's ability to cope more easily with certain physical situations. For example:
• Stand when an older person needs a seat, be it on public transportation, in a
waiting room or anywhere else. You are young, able legs and a need to stay fit by standing on
them. And here is the respectful part––do it with grace, not because the person is older than
you. Do it because they matter as a human being. In thinking this way, you'll find your
attitude shifts a great deal.
• Do not shout at an elderly person assuming that he or she is deaf or stupid. Being
old doesn't necessarily mean hard-of-hearing and it doesn't mean they're stupid. If anything,
older people are much wiser than you, they've seen it all and some and have a few good tips
for improving your way of living too.
• If driving an elderly person somewhere, don't assume they want to be in the back
seat. Ask them where they'd like to sit first. And be on hand to help them in and out of the
car––the distance from the seat can be difficult sometimes for those with less strength in
their bodies.

PERSEVERANCE is a quality required to perfect any skill.
To persevere means to continue to do something or try to
do something even though it is difficult. Even though the
tortoise was tired, he persevered and finished .

  • 47. READ THE PASSAGE, THEN PRESS THE PICTURE BUTTON AND TRY AGAIN Case number 3: Be considerate of older people's well-being (Article fom the Wiki How). The reality of the human body is that it deteriorates as we age. Different people age differently, according to their genes, lifestyle choices and life's experiences and so you will find some elderly are much fitter and daredevil than others who are forced to live with illness or medical conditions. It is only proper that fit and healthy younger generations show respect the reality of the human body's growing frailty in ways that acknowledge the younger person's ability to cope more easily with certain physical situations. For example: • Stand when an older person needs a seat, be it on public transportation, in a waiting room or anywhere else. You are young, able legs and a need to stay fit by standing on them. And here is the respectful part––do it with grace, not because the person is older than you. Do it because they matter as a human being. In thinking this way, you'll find your attitude shifts a great deal. • Do not shout at an elderly person assuming that he or she is deaf or stupid. Being old doesn't necessarily mean hard-of-hearing and it doesn't mean they're stupid. If anything, older people are much wiser than you, they've seen it all and some and have a few good tips for improving your way of living too. • If driving an elderly person somewhere, don't assume they want to be in the back seat. Ask them where they'd like to sit first. And be on hand to help them in and out of the car––the distance from the seat can be difficult sometimes for those with less strength in their bodies.
