What is Live USB?

booted from removable storage media such as optical
discs or USB flash drives, instead of being installed on and
booted from a hard disk drive..
How to make a live USB?

● Select iso image and a Disk
● Click Make Startup Disk

Booting from USB
To get into Boot menu, first reboot and
press Esc, F12, F10, F2, Del or other key
mentioned on the screen.

Now, save changes,
put in the USB with live Ubuntu
and reboot.

Install Ubuntu alongside Windows
All “COMPLICATED” Steps
● Backup Data
● Download iso of Linux Distribution and Create a live USB
● Set to Boot from CD/USB in BIOS
● Boot with live USB
● Select Live
● Launch gparted
● Select Windows partition (usually second, larger one)
● Resize current Windows Partition to get min. 8GB
● Click Apply all operations
● Exit gparted and reboot
● Boot USB again
● Install this time
● When Partition disks comes up, select Guided - use the largest continuous free space
● Reboot
● Select OS to start

What About VirtualBox
VirtualBox supports only 32-bit versions?
Enable virtualization support in BIOS.
