Kaziranga National Park is located in Assam, India between two districts. It covers an area of 378 square kilometers, though erosion has reduced the area by about 51 square kilometers. The landscape consists of flat fertile land, exposed sandbars, flood-formed lakes, and elevated regions that provide shelter for animals during floods. Kaziranga has significant populations of threatened mammal species, including the largest population of great one-horned rhinoceros in the world. It is also home to a variety of other threatened species such as tigers, elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer.
