 Global warming describes the set of changes on the Earth’s climate or
long term weather patterns that vary from place to place.
 It is the heating of the of the Earth

3. Evidence of global warming…
 There has been evidence that higher temperatures are causing icecaps to melt
and glaciers to retreat
 One of the icecaps in Andes Mountains in Peru shrunk by 20%
 Large piece of ice are breaking off from Antarctica and icecaps from the Arctic
ocean has shrunk to smaller sizes than ever recorded before

4. Causes of global warming..
 Increase in greenhouse gases concentration in the atmosphere by humans such
as Carbon dioxide, Methane, Nitrous oxide and Chlorofluorocarbons.
 Industrialization power stations and factories burning fuels
 Cars burn oil based fuel emitting nitrous oxide
 Aerosols refrigerators and industrial cleaning materials

5. Consequences of Global Warming
 Melting of glaciers and icecaps which example includes the Mount Kilimanjaro.
 Failing crop yields leading to more hunger and food insecurity.
 Climate change whereby some areas experience more rainfall while others will
experience more severe droughts.

 Using environmentally friendly sources of energy e.g Solar energy, wind
power and biofuels
 Planting more trees and conserving forests to help in absorption of
Carbon Dioxide
 Educating people and making them aware of ways in which they can
conserve energy so to reduce their carbon footprint.
