The document discusses how gene therapy can be used to better understand and treat musculoskeletal disorders and injuries by promoting tissue regeneration through localized delivery of growth factors and cytokines. It outlines how viral and non-viral vectors can be used to introduce therapeutic genes into tissues to accelerate healing and reduce recovery time for conditions like fractures, osteoarthritis, tendon injuries, and muscular dystrophy.

Do you know what is a cerclage cable? During hip replacement and treatment of associated peri-prosthetic fractures, it is often necessary to hold the bone or fragments of bone together to create a stable environment for healing to occur. This is typically done with metal wires or cables using a technique called Cerclage. A cerclage wire or cable is wound around a bone or bony fragments to hold them together to allow them to heal.
Deformity: It’s the position of a limb/Joint, from which it cannot be brought back to its normal anatomical position.

Distraction osteogenesis is a method of producing unlimited quantities of living bone directly from a special osteotomy by controlled mechanical distraction. The new bone spontaneously bridges the gap and rapidly remodels to a normal macrostructure for the local bone.
Total contact cast is rigid or semi-rigid molded cast which extends from the patient’s foot to just below the knee, maintaining contact with the entire plantar surface of the foot and lower leg and immobilizing surrounding joints and soft tissue while allowing the patient to remain ambulatory.

Functional Recovery of the Musculoskeletal System Following Injury - Leveragi...InsideScientific
Watch Dr. Sarah Greising discuss the current pathophysiologic understanding of the skeletal muscle remaining following traumatic musculoskeletal injuries.
Volumetric muscle loss (VML) injuries result in the abrupt loss of skeletal muscle fibers, causing chronic functional disability in part due to limited muscle regeneration and vast co-morbidities. With a focus on clinically relevant outcome measurements for skeletal muscle function in both small and large animal models of VML injury, this webinar presents various near-term interventions for the restoration of tissue function following complex injuries. Interventions evaluated focus on regenerative rehabilitation approaches using regenerative pharmaceuticals to correct underlying muscle pathophysiology.

Vitamin D3 and calcium are the main bone health supplements required for quality of life. The present study aimed to find out the role of Consciousness Energy Healing based vitamin D3 and DMEM medium on bone health parameters in vitro using MG-63 cells. The parameters of bone health tested are Alkaline Phosphatise Enzyme (ALP) activity, collagen levels, and bone mineralization. The Test Items (TI) i.e. vitamin D3 and DMEM medium were divided into two parts. The test samples received Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment by Krista Joanne Callas and samples were defined as the Bio-field Energy Treated (BT) samples, while the other parts of each sample were denoted as the untreated test items (UT). Cell viability using MTT assay exhibited increased cell viability range from 72% to 122% with safe and nontoxic profile among test samples on the MG-63 cell line. was significantly increased by 129.6%, 392%, and 255.7%in the UT-DMEM+BT-TI, BT-DMEM+UT-TI, and BT-DMEM+BT-TI groups, respectively at 100μg/mL as compared with the untreated group.

Efficiency of Stem Cell After Spinal Cord Injury with Clip-Compression by Tae Hoon Lee* in Crimson Publishers: Surgery Journal Impact Factor
Our experiment grafted mouse embryonic stem cell (mESC) to influence behavioral deficiency in rodent animal models of clip compressive surgery inducing spinal cord injury (SCI) of central nervous system. Our research proved the effect of grafted stem cells to the injured spinal cord region, focusing the application of mouse embryonic stem cells for regeneration of spinal cord nervous injury. Therefore, our research suggests manifest results that implantation of mouse embryonic stem cell could show behavioral improvement after severe spinal cord damage.

Myogenic differentiation requires to be exactly explored for the effective treatment of fracture. The speed of healing is affected by skeletal muscle, linked to activation of specific myogenic transcription factors during the repair process. In previous study, we discovered that psoralen enhanced differentiation of osteoblast in primary mouse. In the current study, we show that psoralen stimulates myogenic differentiation through the secretion of factors to hone the quality of repair in fractured mice. 3-month old mice were treated with corn oil or psoralen followed by a tibial fracture surgery. Fractures were tested 7, 14, and 21 days respectively later by histology and images observation. Skeletal muscles including soleus muscle and posterior tibial muscle around the damaged bone were collected for quantitative real-time PCR, HE staining, as well as western blot. Daily treatment with psoralen at seven, fourteen days or twenty-one days improves protein or mRNA levels responsible for the whole myogenic differentiation process, makes the muscle fibers more tightly aligned, and promotes callus formation and development. This data shows that high levels of myogenic transcription factors in the process of fracture healing in mice foster the repair of damaged muscles, and indicates a pharmacological approach that targets myogenic differentiation to improve fracture repair. This also reflects the academic thought of "paying equal attention to both muscles and bones" in the prevention and treatment of fracture healing.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
