- Good Morning My name is Gene Reznik and I lead Accenture’s Ecosystem and Ventures organization It’s a pleasure to be here with you this morning to share some views on how we see software engineering becoming a critical element of the Digital Transformation journey in many industries and companies today I will also highlight the recent partnership between Accenture and Pivotal to bring PCF and modern engineering practices to our clients on a global basis. But first a little about Accenture Accenture has a long history of developing process and technology solutions to our global enterprise clients. Today, we are over 400,000 professionals, operating in 40 countries across 17 major industries focused on helping our clients shape and deliver their Digital Transformations journeys We have made significant investments in building skills, solutions and partnerships in many of the key disciplines and capabilities Customer Experience Design Digital Marketing Analytics Artificial Intelligence Industrial Internet and IoT Accenture has also continued to invest and evolve our Software Engineering disciplines with 40,000 Java developers and 6,000 professionals working directly with open source technologies - We're part of a number of foundations and communities: Cloud Foundry Foundation, Spring, Mahout, Liferay, D3 just to name a few

- As we look at the Technology marketplace today, we are at a very important transition point between two key technology waves. On one side today’s enterprises remain grounded in many of the packages, processes and disciplines that have brought tremendous value to enable global operations, process standardization, automation and created the modern enterprise. ERP, Waterfall Development, ITSM, Java and .Net monoliths remain at the core and power today’s global business In parallel, a fundamentally different set of technologies, architectures, development practices come from the Internet world and are powering Digital Transformation for many businesses. These are grounded in fundamental different approaches Cloud, DevOps, OpenSource, Microservices, Analytics, AI delivered through local studio models And it is this co-existence and transition that shapes the technology agenda for many enterprises and drives the dialogue and debate about approaches for digital decoupling, operating models, cultural transformation, etc. BUT THE ONE THING THAT EVERYONE CAN AGREE ON IS THAT SOFTWARE AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT IS BECOMINING THE CENTERPIECE OF FUTURE VALUE CREATION IN THE DIGITAL WORLD.

- And it is for fundamentally this reason, that Accenture and Pivotal have come together to help our joint enterprise clients accelerate their journeys to become software-powered businesses. Through the Accenture Pivotal Business Group, Accenture and Pivotal are setting up local studios starting in US and then expanding globally to help our clients build Cloud Native solutions on PCF utilizing the development processes and disciplines made successful by Pivotal Labs. Through APBG, we are pairing the market leadership and expertise of Pivotal with the global scale, industry-centricity and broader digital services of Accenture to drive unique value for our clients.
- In terms of our services scope, we are focusing in three key areas: Developing New Cloud Native Applications – Working with our joint customers on their new OmniChannel applications, Connected Services Platforms, new digitally enabled products and customer experiences … all on the PCF platform, Modernizing Legacy Applications – Implementing microservices architectures, refactoring and legacy applications and integrating and calibrating legacy and Cloud Native architectures and development methods. Helping develop Agile workforces and disciplines for our clients – Through digital and physical academies helping our clients scale their skills and internal capabilities. We believe this is absolutely central to the overall success. Providing agile enablement to the business and technologists on how to use XP to collaborate better together the software development, but also beyond to organizational change management (OCM) Note: On point #3 you may want to mention the SolutionIQ acquisition which was the largest agile enablement company in the world prior to being acquired by Accenture and is involved with our joint efforts with APBG and Pivotal from a methodology and agile coaching perspective to scale XP to not just 10s of people, but 100s within our clients organization to ultimately get to 1000’s leveraging Accenture global deliver network.
