environment

 Yamaha had recently hired 200 woman for its plant in Uttar Pradesh for the
assembly line of its scooter ‘Ray’
 women would be discriminated against in terms of projects and promotions if
they joined a company based on a quota and not on experience

2. GLASS CEILING

the 136 countries it rated
• Out Of the 1,112 directorships of 100 companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange,
only 59 are held by women
• More and more women become entrepreneurs to by-pass the ceiling

3. COMBATING THE GLASS CEILING
 Create a climate in the company that is more inclusive and
holistic, and more conducive to the management styles of
women
 Make accommodations to women to enable them to strike the
right work-family balance.
 Have an open communication policy.
 Consciousness among women managers to make mentorship of
other women one of their primary responsibilities.
