The document describes the design and fabrication of a low-cost and fail-safe Segway personal transport vehicle. A team of students designed and built the Segway to address safety issues and high costs of commercial Segways. The fabricated Segway uses DC motors powered by rechargeable batteries, a microcontroller-based control unit, and a steel frame chassis. Stress calculations demonstrated the chassis can withstand the expected loads safely. The constructed prototype provides a stable and affordable alternative to conventional Segways.
