The situation in this photograph is that the boys are riding in protest against Hitler and the Third
Reich. The photograph shows this because of the White Rose flag.
What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey?
The photographer was just portraying people against Hitler’s regime.

A question that the photograph raises is “why are the boys doing the nazi salute while riding with
the White Rose flag?”

In order to find more information about this photograph, you could research popular bicycles
during the Nazi period in Germany.

1- The boys must be against the Nazis because of the White Rose flag on the boy’s bicycle.

the Nazi’s were in power and the boys are doing the Nazi salute.
3- The bicycles must be made from Schwinn because that was the most popular bicycle in
Germany at this time.

What is the situation of the people in the photograph? Provide evidence from the photo that tells you this. The situation in this photograph is that the boys are riding in protest against Hitler and the Third Reich. The photograph shows this because of the White Rose flag. What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey? The photographer was just portraying people against Hitler’s regime. Why is this photograph important to history?
  • 2. Watts 2 This photograph is important to history because it shows a time period during the Nazi reign. What questions does this photograph raise? A question that the photograph raises is “why are the boys doing the nazi salute while riding with the White Rose flag?” Write your own caption for the photograph: “Riding Rebels.” What could you do to find more information about this photograph? In order to find more information about this photograph, you could research popular bicycles during the Nazi period in Germany. Based on what you have observed list 3 things you might infer from the photograph 1- The boys must be against the Nazis because of the White Rose flag on the boy’s bicycle.

Photo #2 Who are the people in the photograph? The people in the photograph are American soldiers at a base in a war. What is the situation of the people in the photograph? Provide evidence from the photo that tells you this. The situation in the photograph is that the soldiers are in a war because they have uniforms on and ammunition is around them. What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey? The message that the photographer was trying to show was how American soldiers had captured an enemy fortress. What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey? The message the photographer was trying to show was how big of an impact Prohibition had on people.
