The most interesting aspect to me was that different emotional effects could come
from the same, or similar, music. In the hospital and assault scenes, we hear the
same instrumental song, a fast beat with a soft high pitched chorus. In the hospital
scene, it adds to the dramatic effect; the fast paced beat goes with the race against
the clock to save Orlando. In the assault scene the fast paced beat creates a sense of

near dusk time. He points out the extreme care that the children take in creating their

The encounters with Native Americans are a significant aspect of the literature of the
Early Americans. We can learn about both parties through the constant stereotypes
against the Native Americans by white people. These stereotypes impacted the culture
of society for future generations by making it look as though all Indians are bad
people with bad intentions. For example, the attempt to bring out the inner savagery
of the Indian culture. There are many stereotypes for example, the conversion of
Indians to another culture and forcing them to recognize the white culture as the
dominant culture over their native one. They had small chances of being accepted by

of Burmese women have changed through Myanmar s multiple political transitions,

She is starting to see a husband who is not direct or honest with her. In lines 4 and
5 the narrator says, their cars pulled close along the sandy road... This line could
represent the selective perception beginning to crumble, like the road. The lie the
husband created is starting to reveal itself. By the end of the poem the wife s
selective perception is gone. This is evident from the line, The gather itself is not
what astounds her, but the casual accomplishment with which he lied. The fog has
been lifted and she is starting to see the person she married. Another literary device
Jane Kenyon uses is the double. The double represents the husband because his other

It seemed to the master of the slaves that if the master promised or highly assured
the slave that good hard working labor would pay off by being manumitted in
years to come. The slaves would use this to their advantage, many blacks brought
pressure for manumission by malingering, stalling, and in general, making it clear

The Catbird Seat by James Thurber introduces the prime character, Mr. Erwin
Martin has been an employee at F S for 22 years. Over time, he has established a
reputation of one who does wrong, but they are unaware of what monstrous deeds
he is capable of. Mrs. Ulgine Barrows is the latest to join F S, where she has only
been for a few months. In addition to her coming, she takes it upon herself, to reign
over the established company. Continuously, she pushes his buttons further, and he is
anticipating to rub her out, in order to rid of her before she begins taking over(1).

Burrows . This is the moment he is visualizing repeatedly, and one can assume that
he will take her life once he sneaks in. There is no reasonable explanation he would
be here. This woman was nothing other than a nuisance to him, and it is obvious
he is showing up with unpleasant intentions. He does not walk in as a guest, he
prowls like a poisonous snake, on the move for his prey. Once he is clear of

Martin is not a hunt for any weapon, the text reads, Mr. Martin looked quickly
around the living room for THE weapon (3). The search for something to hit her
with is not random, it is the weapon he assumes would be available, as mapped out.
Initially, his plan all along was to kill her with whatever he found in her place.
Following, he catches sight of a knife and he test if it is sharp enough, but came to
a loss because, It was blunt. It wouldn t do (4). Obviously, this is a red flag,
especially considering how much he despises her. Not only is he seeking the
appropriate sharp object, he also makes sure to retain his gloves, in case there is a
residue of blood or fingerprints. Once he fails to find a dagger, a sudden thought
arises. Instead of striking her dead, he realizes it is possible to deceive her. As he
