This document discusses fundal changes seen in pre-eclampsia and the use of fundoscopy to monitor patients. Fundoscopy allows visualization of hypertensive changes in the retina, which runs parallel to severity of pre-eclampsia. Normal findings include uniform caliber arteries with smooth course and branching at obtuse angles. Hypertensive changes include vasospasm seen as narrowing, straightening and acute branching, vasosclerosis seen as Salus' sign and Gunn's sign, and retinopathy seen as exudates, hemorrhages, edema, hard exudates and retinal detachment.
