Life Experiences In Life
McVay.Session1. Journal
I ve had three life experiences I feel have influenced my academic goals for the better. The first one
was when I was 18 years old. I had a promising future ahead of me, but I was young and naïve.
Getting married was more important than going to college. Before I knew it, we had three children
under the age of four years old. I was a busy, stay at home mom, and I absolutely loved it. I valued the
closeness I had with my kids. I dabbled a bit in home businesses to bring in extra money.
Sales sparked my interests and talents. My marriage was crumbling and I knew I needed a backup
plan, so I tried to pursue school but my husband never allowed it. I lived in a controlled environment,
with no room for personal growth.
The kids and I experienced verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. My marriage lasted 15 years before
it came to an end. In 2010, I found myself with three kids, no house, no job, no education, and money.
I was starting completely over with nothing but a high school diploma. I was kicking myself for not
going to college when I was eighteen. Having someone control my life to the point that you became
completely dependent on them was eye opening. This experience taught me a lot, but it also fueled my
desire to become educated and not let anyone take that away from me again. I was an advocate for any
youth I was in contact with to get an education and become independent before they get married.
I spent 5 years finding out who I was while

Symptoms And Treatment Of Clinical Depression
Recently, critics have questioned the ability of SSRIs to reduce the symptoms of clinical depression.
Dr. Hieronymous and his researchers believe high rates of unsuccessful clinical trials additionally fuel
negative critiques. The team from University of Gothenburg, Department of pharmacology set out to
investigate 32 past trials concerning new medications many containing similar compounds to those
found in common market SSRIs such as Paxil, Prozac, Celexa, and Zoloft. Greater than half of the
company sponsored SSRI trials, using common test protocols, demonstrated significant depression
relief regarding active drug versus placebo groups. Their resulting data points out possible depression
measuring defects as a possible source of trial failure, rather than solely SSRI drug ineffectiveness.
The Effect Parameter To prove a drug works, researchers must quantify significant patient symptom
differences before and after active treatment and differentiate these results against placebo effects. The
metric commonly used to measure SSRI impact regarding depressive symptom changes is the
Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS), or more specifically HDRS 17. Dr. Max Hamilton s
article A Rating Scale for Depression , describes his depression scale design developed in the 1950s.
HDRS 17 analyses 17 different symptoms associated with depression where each is given a grade
reflecting symptom severity (0 to 4, or 0 to 2). A score of 0 represents an absent symptom while a

Renaissance And The Renaissance Era
Renaissance The Renaissance era was a time of great change in music, art, literature, and science. The
Renaissance, which lasted from the 1300 s to the 1600 s began in Italy and spread throughout other
countries to England, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. During this time, there was a great
deal of agricultural economy and the church were dominate and transform society. The word
Renaissance come from the Latin word meaning rebirth. During the Renaissance period many artists
studied art of Ancient Greece and Rome. Frenchmen Jules Michelet was the first to employ this term
and put it into his own personal use. Many artists wanted to bring the spirit back to Greek and Roman
through their art work. The Renaissance was known as a period of rebirth of these cultures and began
as the Middle Ages were coming to an end. Leaders of the Renaissance did not agree with many of the
ideas of the Middle Ages as artwork and learning during this era focused on primarily religion and
spirituality. However, many Renaissance artists began to broaden their imagination, study other
cultures and their way of life. Leaders believed that Greeks and Romans had a better understanding of
people and behavior as far as problems were concerned. Renaissance thinkers, infatuated with the
Greek and Romans, often times copied their style of work, as the thirst for their culture grew.

An Investigation Of A Burglary Report
On 6 20 2016 at about 1743 hrs I was dispatched to 407 6th ST NE for a residential burglary report.
Enroute dispatched advised that the homeowner, Susan Cwanila, had called 911 to report a burglary to
her residence. I arrived on scene and contacted Susan and her boyfriend, Wayne Briggs, who also lives
at the address. Susan stated that they both left the residence this morning around 0800 hours and when
they returned home they noticed that someone had forced entry to their residence. Susan stated that
they noticed someone had attempted to break open a double panel window, however, only the first
window was broken and no signs of access to the residence were made at that point. However, also on
the back side of the residence they located another window which had been broken. Upon entering
through that window, access could have been made to the residence. Wayne also stated that damage
was found on the window style air conditioning unit on the side of the residence. Suggesting that
someone had attempt to removed the unit and gain access to the residence at that point. Susan stated
that several of the screens for the windows around the residence were removed and found laying
around the yard. Susan also stated that they noticed fresh foot prints in their garden area. Susan stated
the dirt had recently been racked and no foot prints should have been in the dirt. The dirt was on the
far back side of the residence and led to their fence line. It is the same area of the

Myths And The Reason Behind Mythology
WHAT ARE MYTHS AND THE REASON BEHIND MYTHOLOGY? Mythos, the Greek word for
myth means story, appertain to colorful tales that enlightens about the origins of humans and the
universe. Myths, as amazing as it sounds, is also a cause for birth of new religions, where and how
they originated. Many cultures have myths about how the gods and goddesses came to be, even
elucidating the origin of humanity and its traditions. Even ideas about how this world of ours came to
existence have many myths, creation myths behind it, disparate in every culture and society, which
demonstrates a view on its role in the world. Mythology is simply the study of the myth. There are
many psychological theories and meanings that explicate mythology. The most recurrent belief about
the psychological value of myth is that myths emblematize contrasting elements of our own psyches
or souls. The psychoanalytical frames of reference on myths have indisputably been ineluctable.
Myths were and still are progressively seen as expressions of desideratum in the human psyche. But
the big question is, what is the beneficence of mythology towards the amelioration of society? If there
are myths to decipher or exhibit certain things, character or situations, there also are science and
technology, which accommodate every explanation needed to understand each of those things. Many
go to science for such interpretation, which conveys the impression of taking care of the signification
behind all those natural phenomena,

Mexicans and The Lady of Guadalupe Essay
The Lady of Guadalupe is a huge part of the Mexican tradition, and how many people look up to her
in a very godly way. She is important, because she reminds people of their appreciation for their own
cultures, along with the other cultures that are all over the world. The Lady of Guadalupe is someone
that is the exact replica of the Virgin Mary. But, the only difference is, is that the Virgin Mary is a saint
that is represented in the European culture, and the Lady of Guadalupe in the Aztec and Native culture
of Mexico. The lady of Guadalupe is a positive influence on different religions, especially
Christianity.

Another prayer that is said in her honor is:
MEMORARE TO OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, that in thy celestial apparitions on the mount
of Tepeyac, thou didst promise to show thy compassion and pity towards all who, loving and trusting
thee, seek thy help and call upon thee in their necessities and afflictions.
Thou didst promise to hearken to our supplications, to dry our tears and to give us consolation and
relief. Never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy
intercession, either for the common welfare, or in personal anxieties, was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, we fly unto thee, O Mary, ever Virgin Mother of the True God! Though
grieving under the weight of our sins, we come to prostrate ourselves in thy august presence, certain
that thou wilt deign to fulfill thy merciful promises. We are full of hope that, standing beneath thy
shadow and protection, nothing will trouble or afflict us, nor need we fear illness, or misfortune, or
any other sorrow.
Thou hast decided to remain with us through thy admirable image, thou who art our Mother, our
health and our life. Placing ourselves beneath thy maternal gaze and having recourse to thee in all our
necessities we need do nothing more. O Holy

3. Taking it slow. Thinking of writing calligraphy as drawing instead will help us a lot in our learning
calligraphy. We should draw each stroke and focus on drawing a perfect stroke. We will be amazed at
how this small paradigm shift makes a huge difference in our calligraphy.
Step #5: Correcting our Errors and Perfecting our Craft
We got our basics, we know how to form letters, and we are practicing hard.
Can we now create beautiful calligraphy pieces or crafts worthy of being gifts?
Possible, but probably not yet.
We need to get to the last step which is learning to detect and correct the errors in our calligraphy.
This is the part where we learn to become an independent calligraphy that is perfectly capable of
coaching self only. We know exactly what a beautiful calligraphy piece is like and how to create it
ourselves.
In the course of learning calligraphy, we will make mistakes. How fast we are going to learn

Human Desire Through Questionable Acts
In Metamorphoses, Ovid explores human desire through questionable acts performed by multiple
characters in his first and eighth book. These driven characters evoke a response from the all powerful
gods based on his or her actions. The gods respond to either just or unjust acts in three different ways.
They either transform the character into a bird or a tree, or they will allow a character to die. The new
form of the characters depicts the four theological locations (heaven, purgatory, earth, and hell).
Through these transformations, Ovid explores the fate of humans based on the morality of each
character in relation to the gods will. As the most sacred location, heaven provides a place of grandeur
and peace for the gods away from the corruption of Earth. In the beginning, the elements oppose one
another and create chaos within the shapeless universe. As a solution, Ovid stated, Some god (or
kinder nature) settled this / dispute by separating earth from heaven (1:26 27). Therefore, heaven and
earth automatically become two opposite locations. These two locations should not mix or interact
with each other because disorder would bring ruin to each location. When mortals or earth bound
beasts try to invade heaven, the gods protect their homeland by killing the invader. Ovid wrote, So that
the skies above might be no more / secure than earth, the race of Giants plotted / (we hear) to rule in
heaven by themselves (1:205 207). In reaction to the invasion, the unnamed god

Teamwork In A Team
Two heads are better than one. We ve all heard the old adage encouraging teamwork. Of course with
more minds set on a specific goal, more ideas you access. So, we can finish our works on time. The
process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal is what we call
teamwork. When people work in a team, they will try to cooperate with each others, use their
individual skills and providing constructive feedback. When a team works well together as a unit they
are able to accomplish more than its individual members can do alone. Different members apply
different skills, they are often able to come up with a more effective solution than one person working
on the same problem. Teamwork is absolutely fundamental for teams to work effectively. A team
combines individual s.trengths with a shared commitment to performance, it s not just about getting on
well together. That s why I like to work in a team. Only when joined the strengths ang skill of

With real teamwork, we tend to see positive attitudes and behaviours such as sharing a common vision
of the future together. People also willing to help others when they needed. The biggest reason I like
to work in a team is teamwork making the work more efficient. First and foremost, working in a team
will make the work more efficient because it helps to increase the productivity of our work. When
people with different opinions and experiences work together, more ideas get generated and we can
finish our work faster. If a job requires 5 days for one person to finish, then it will just be done in 3
days with a group of people. Besides, it not only increasing the productivy, it also upgrade the quality
of the work. This is because when people work together, they can easily see each other s mistakes and
fix them perfectly. Everybody makes mistakes, but it s good to have someone fixing the mistakes we

Receptor Proteins
A cell is the smallest basic functional unit of a living organism. The cell is composed of organelles that
help the cell perform its specialized function. Every cell contains a cell membrane and a cytoplasm,
the material that is within the cell but does not include the organelles. The cell membrane is a semi
permeable structure with 2 layers of phospholipids containing embedded proteins. The role of this
fluid mosaic model is to monitor the exchange of substances, separate the cytoplasm from the external
environment, form a communication between other cells, and act as an identification that protects the
cell from unidentifiable substances. Also known as fats, the phospholipids creates a barrier between
the layers because they consist of a nonpolar hydrophobic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For cell communication, the cell membrane has signaling molecules called glycolipids, lipids that
have a carbohydrate and are bonded by a glycosidic bond. There are different proteins that belong in
the phospholipid bilayer and each of them have a function. Channel proteins are designed to allow
diffusion of molecules through small openings. Carrier proteins have binding sites and work by
targeting specific molecules to allow for passage through gate channels. Receptor proteins triggers a
release of molecules that stimulate cellular responses, for example the release of hormones through the
synaptic cleft. Proteins that use tags to identify cells to the immune system are known as cell
recognition proteins. Proteins also include enzymes and they perform metabolic reactions in the body.
The transport across the membrane allow for particles with no charge or small ones to pass through,
such as carbon dioxide. However, water cannot pass through easily across and needs the assistance of
an aquaporin, a channel protein, to move through the bilayer. There are two types of transport: passive
and active

Foreign Market Entry
Entering a foreign market can be delicate for a business. There are different steps to entering a market
abroad, and there are different strategies to look at, as they all vary. There is no single approach to
enter all forms of international business. Many benefits come from expanding a business globally.
Making the move into foreign markets will increase the size of an organization, their profits, and the
overall global economy. A company must determine trade barriers, the different risks associated with
their entry, and develop a strategy (Hill 2008). Steps to entering the foreign market vary, but here are
six basic steps to consider: First the organization needs to assess their competitive advantage. Second
determine the different markets to enter and what advantage and disadvantage each market offers. The
third step is to figure out which product or line an organization will enter the market with. Fourth step
is to make an evaluation of the resources needed. Step five is what the limitations are going to be for
the organization. Finally, step six is to choose what method of entry is the best for the business
(Sjolander). Once each of these steps are complete, a company is ready to enter the foreign
marketplace. From the six steps to foreign market entry, step six was choosing what method is going
to be used. To determine what method of entry to use, an organization has six options to choose from
and they include exporting, turnkey projects, licensing, franchising,

Hito Steyerl Vs Francisco De Goya
In this essay, a comparison and contrast of Hito Steyerl (born 1966) with that of Francisco de Goya
(1746 1828) work of art will be made. These artists have been selected to demonstrate that they both
can be defined as revolutionary artists but within separate art periods. To demonstrate this, it must first
be defined what is revolutionary art and how does it affect us? The history of art has gone through
constant changes from movement to movement, with ideas being portrayed differently. Revolutionary
art is something that people take notice the many years after being presented. It leaves a lasting
impression no matter the genre or means to make it. Even though Goya and Steyerl are artists from
different eras, they still contribute value to the art community. Francisco de Goya born in 1746 in

Analysis Of George Orwell s A Hanging
Under the pen name of George Orwell, Eric Arthur Blair writes an essay titled, A Hanging, to show
how capital punishment is wrong. This essay is a past experience Orwell has been across. Orwell
changes his view on capital punishment, who has the right to shorten someone s life. Orwell witnesses
a hanging of a Hindu man and realizes that it is inhumane and immoral to take a life away from
someone. Although Orwell has helped with hangings in his past he realizes that capital punishment is
wrong and it is not right to take someone s life away.
During the time of the writing of this essay Orwell was living in Burma as a police officer in a local
jail to oversee and help with executions. He witnessed many deaths and hangings in his duty as a
policeman. Orwell did not like Burma (Biography.com Editors, p.2) and his witnessing of these
hangings and mistreatments is where the motivation, to stop the process of executions, for his writing
came from.
Right from the beginning of the essay, Orwell sets the mood by describing the scene as a sodden
morning of the rains (Orwell, p.1). The rain is used to set a sad mood for the essay because of the
events that are about to occur. The schedule for the day is to execute, hang, a prisoner after his appeal
was denied by the court. It is not a happy day for anyone, not the guards, not the prisoner, or his
fellow inmates. Orwell also uses the word, Sickly, to describe the upsetting mood, as the color of
yellow coming over the walls in

Essay on The Life of Sir Isaac Newton
Over the centuries, math has evolved in an astounding way. Since the beginning of time, there have
been many mathematicians that has influenced and contributed to the math we know today. None
compares to the work of Sir Isaac Newton. He was influential as a person, as well as in his work.
Sir Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642 in Wools Thorpe, Lincolnshire. Shortly after his
father s death, Newton was born premature and was not expected to survive. After his father s death,
his mother got remarried to an ignorant man. His stepfather didn t seem to like him, so he was then
sent away to live with his grandmother. At the age of eleven, his stepfather died. After the death, he
decided to move back home with his mother.

In 1667, Newton returning to Cambridge and quickly completed all his requirements for a master s
degree. His greatest discoveries and innovations came about during his years at Cambridge.
Newton was the one to formulate the theory of universal gravity. It is claimed that, when he watched
an apple fall from a tree he wondered if the force that caused that the apple to fall was also the force
that kept the moon in its orbit. According to the text in Newton (1642), his theory that is described in
Newton s law is that gravitational force depends on the mass of each object. His doubt wasn t about
the fact that gravity existed, but whether it was what was keeping the moon in its orbit. He figured
that, if the force was to be decreased he would be able to calculate the Moon s orbital period. He
figured that this was the same force responsible for other motions in the orbit and with his hypothesis;
he decided to call this theory universal gravitation. With many trials and errors he could not get his
calculations to match his theories; he finally figured out his error, he had been using the wrong
formula to figure out the diameter of the Earth.
According to Harper (2006), Newton s distinction between absolute and relative motion is based on
his laws of motion, which he described as accepted by mathematicians and confirmed by experiments
of many kinds . His distinctions between absolute and relative

The ceremonies have influenced all forms of Japanese art (such as garden design and flower
arrangements), and has become a social custom to Japanese people (Tea). This way of life is still
prevalent in Japanese culture today (especially among the older generations).
Along the lines of Japan s long history of tea, the first signs of these exports appeared in 1610 by the
Dutch East India Company, when a shipment of Japanese tea was sent to Europe (Ito En). Later in
1858 Japan opened its ports, first to the United States, then to countries like the UK, Russia, and
France. This marked the time in which tea became one of Japan s main exports. Afterwards the export
of tea expanded due to the support of the Japanese government, with their main focus on the United

It By Stephen King Compare And Contrast
Differences and changes have to be made in order to make something better. The book IT by Stephen
King shows this statement. Especially when comparing the book to both of the movies. When reading
this book and watching the movies the person doing so can see there are drastic differences. Such as
the children s fears, the time period of the setting, as well as the flashbacks. There weren t only
differences there were some similarities as well like the opening scene and the overall theme of the
book. As a whole, there were definitely more differences. To start off, in the book as well as both
movies all three had pretty much the exact same opening scene. It started with the boat that George
had made with his sick older brother Bill. The water was too fast and George couldn t catch up to it.
That is when the paper boat floated down into the sewer. This is when George meets the killer clown,
he didn t know would be the cause of his death. This is how all three start off. They meet the same
way and George still ends up dying. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One possible theme for this story line is Working together to face your fears. In the book as well as the
movies you can see the main characters working together to overcome each personal fear. The clown
Pennywise tries to beat them with their own personal fears thinking that the others will/can not help
the others. They end up proving him wrong throughout each of the timelines. In each one the
reader/watcher can see the protagonists overcome what is thrown at them by the antagonist and it s

Biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Although Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is often regarded as just an author, he was much more. His works
were inspired by the times and the people he met, and his literary influence remains relevant today. On
May 22, 1859 Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to Charles and Mary
Doyle. He was their third child, and one of ten children all together. Charles Doyle was a political
cartoonist and civil servant who earned only £300 per year, so money was very tight in the household.
Partially due to his father s alcoholism and mental instability, he and Charles weren t ever close.
However, he and his mother were. Mary was passionate about books and was a gifted storyteller.

Arthur wrote a short story entitled The Mystery of Sasassa Valley, and it was accepted in the Chamber
s Journal, an Edinburgh magazine. Soon after, he wrote the story The American Tale which was
published in London Society. He said, It was in this year that I first learned that shillings might be
earned in other ways than by filling phials. When Arthur turned 20 he was offered a job as surgeon on
the whaling boat Hope. He loved the adventure and camaraderie on the barge saying, I went on board
the whaler a big straggling youth, I came off a powerful well grown man. and that the arctic awakened
the soul of a born wanderer. These experiences influenced the story Captain of the Pole Star. He went
back to the university in 1880 and acquired his Bachelor of Medicine and his Master of Surgery
degree. Then he went on the Mayumba, serving as ship s surgeon again, for his first gainful
employment. It navigated between Liverpool and the West Coast of Africa. He found Africa detestable
and quite as soon as they were back in England. Facing the prospect of having to file for bankruptcy,
he moved to Portsmouth to open his first practice. He struggled with trying to be a good doctor and

How Did The Influence Classical Greek Art
The Influence of Classical Greek Art throughout the Eras The forms and styles of Classical Greek art
were the essential backbone of artwork and have drawn inspiration for artists through various periods
of art ranging from the beginning of the Roman Empire to present day art. The Classical Greek
sculptures were typically composed of marble and the body forms had a much idealized style; where
the forms represented ideal body types. One of the most popular sculpture forms during the Classical
Greek art period during 600 to 300 BCE, was the male nude sculptures. The male nude sculptures
represented the ideal male figure during the earlier centuries. One of the most popular male nude
sculptures that represent Classical Art is the marble sculpture of Doryphorus (450 440 BCE) by
Polykleitos. The male nude sculpture is in a very relaxed pose where his right leg is in the background

However, the Roman artists contributed their own additions to Greek art. Instead of taking an
idealized approach when completing works of art, the Roman s used the style of verism. The concept
of verism was to make their artwork as realistic and similar to human forms as possible, hence why it
was known as the warts and all style. During the 1st Century, a marble sculpture of Augustus of

to the Greek sculpture of Doryphorus, both marble statues display movement; however the Roman

What was not visible was the aged oak tree with TD + MH = FOREVER carved into the side or the

the pixel domain. Detection of the watermark can be done...
the pixel domain. Detection of the watermark can be done by correlating the pixels values with
expected pixel values. The drawbacks of this technique is limited information embedded, less resistant
to noise and compression and less robust to geometric attacks. These techniques are abandoned
recently[17]. Some common spatial domain algorithms include Least Significant
Bit(LSB)Modification, Patchwork, Texture Block Coding, Correlation based, SSM modulation based
etc. The most commonly used algorithm is LSB.
1) Least Significant bit(LSB)
LSB which replaces the least significant bits of pixels selected to hide the information. In this example
only the least significant bit of each pixel will be used for embedding information. If the pixel ... Show

A remarkable feature of this technique is the high robustness to any kind of distortion, since both
image areas are distorted in a similar way, which means that the watermark recovery by
autocorrelation still works [23].
B. Transform domain
Transform domain method takes advantage of properties of alternate domains by modifying transform
coefficients to support additional features. Transform domain method is divided into frequency
domain and wavelet domain.
1) Frequency domain
In frequency domain, we insert watermark into the coefficients of a transformed image[24] and then
watermarked image is inverted to obtain image in spatial domain.[24] The approaches used in
frequency domain are JPEGbased[ 25],spread spectrum [26],[27] and content based approaches
[28].Frequency image transformations include the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Discrete Cosine
Transform (DCT) and others.
a) Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)
Fourier transform is a powerful tool for analyzing the components of a stationary signal (signal in
which there is no change in the properties of signal) [29]. It is a powerful tool for processing signals
that are composed of some combination of sine and cosine signals (sinusoids) [30]. Fourier
coefficients have two components phase and magnitude[31]. One of the main advantage of DFT is that
it is rotation, Translation and scaling invariant which helps it in recovering from geometrical
distortions. Licks algorithm [32] is one example.

Mandatory Public Assistance Programs
Can we continue to support individuals who abuse their welfare benefits? The public assistance
programs created during the 1930 s that have provided a safety net for people living below the federal
poverty level. Chemical dependency screenings and monthly account audits are presently needed to
thwart the irrational spending of supporting welfare recipients that misuse their benefits to obtain
illegal drugs or alcohol. I feel that drug screening new applicants or beneficiaries who currently
receive public assistance should become mandatory to strengthen the integrity, accountability, and
health of our welfare program in America.
First and most important, the integrity of our public assistance programs need strengthening.

Are We The Dumbest Generation Analysis
Are we the Dumbest Generation? Americans today look back and realize how much technology has
advanced. The big question is whether this technology is affecting our way of thinking. Or like some
authors politicians and older generations say dumb. So why is it that we are considered the dumbest
generation, won t we just grow up and call the next generation dumb? Older generations (over 30)
believe that people under 30 are the dumbest generation, but if you think about it that s what each
generation has said about the previous, making it a pointless and incorrect statement said by the
elderly. It is said we are the dumbest generation, but that s something that is apparently said about
every generation. And that is exactly what R Smith Simpson is saying. He says there seems to be a
lack of knowledge, when people were asked questions they d reply with the thinnest recital of facts
some couldn t even discuss them at all. Although Simpson doesn t provide a direct quote to indicate
that each generation is going to be considered dumb by the previous; we take in consideration the year

Analysis Of The Meursault
Amanda Glassman
English 12
10/20/15
Meursault Portrays a Teenager As I stood overlooking the edge of a steep, mountainous cliff, I noticed
the waves gradually growing taller. In Hawaii, on this particular day, the waves seemed choppier than
normal. Out of fear, I automatically associated the bottom of the cliff with death. On the other hand,
my friend had a different mentality. Her eyes glistened as she gazed down. I could see her eagerness to
dive straight into the ocean. Without even holding her breath, she was gone. However, her decision
was not surprising to me. Like my friend, many teenagers live a day to day basis by sayings such as,
life s too short and you can never get second chance. These mottos often cling to juveniles, causing
them to make rash and careless decisions. In today s day and age, teenagers are the one group of
people that portray this reckless behavior. Although frowned upon in society, existentialism is
commonly found in many pieces of literature. This theory usually highlights man s existence with
society and the world. Like teenagers, the characters in these books and stories are usually displayed
as emotionless and disconnected to the world. In The Stranger, by Albert Camus, the protagonist,
Meursault, perfectly fits the image of an existentialist. In this book, Camus creates realistic scenarios
that Meursault undergoes, however, wants each reader to react differently to Meursault s actions. The
language of the novel is abrupt

Pt1420 Unit 6 Paper
Before a participation process can be designed and implemented, one must determine if there is a
problem to begin with. I would argue the need for judgment links to tyranny. The person setting the
table for a potential process has control over how the problem is framed and if there is a problem to
begin with. Perhaps the public needs to be involved in even the planning process of the process itself?
Could this look like a group of stakeholders? If the goal is to create a horizontal, people controlled
system of decision making? A compromise that deals with the challenge articulated above is some
form of power devolution. It s not an invitation to have too many cooks in the kitchen ; rather
devolution promotes the decentralization of power and decision making. The creation of public action

The New Destination Of Las Vegas
Since you hotel s your playground, where you stay can make a big difference to your experience of

For the first time in years, the number of guest rooms in Las Vegas will grow only slightly in 2001 by

stark contrast to the extraordinary growth rate of the late 1990s, when the Strip provided fertile ground
for a bumper crop of ever more elaborate hotel casinos, culminating in the arrival of the Aladdin in
summer 2000.

Where to stay
If you want to stay on the Strip, remember it s a 32 mile (5.6 kilometre) hike from one end to the
other. You could spend a lot of time tramping from casino to casino, so consider whether you want to
be based at the north, centre or south. The more recent mega resorts are the most attractive places to
stay, but there are also older properties that retain a charm that hints of old Vegas. The cluster of
Downtown casino hotels do a good job with accommodation, although their dining options are more
limited than those on the Strip, and non gambling entertainment is practically non existent.
Of course, you don t have to stay in a casino. Off the Strip, in the area surrounding the Convention
Center, rooms are aimed at the business traveller and are generally unencumbered by noisy casinos,
while out of town, the Regent in Summerlin and the Hyatt at Lake Las Vegas cater for visitors who
want to combine casino luxury with easy access to the golf course. Casino rooms offer such good
value that the budget accommodation sector is relatively small. In addition to the hostel on page 62,

The role of human resources is also very important in maintaining an effective health care industry. If
the managerial personnel are performing their duties effectively and efficiently in a health care

and composition of health care work force. In addition to this, the issues related to the training of the
work force are also a challenge for the human resource management. The relocation of the health
workers is also a great concern. Moreover, the degree of economic development is also a great
challenge that negatively impacts the level of performance shown by a health care organization. These
challenges must be addressed properly in order to have an effective health care delivery anywhere in
the world.
If we compare the health care financing of past and that of recent times, there exists a dramatic shift in
the trends of the issue. In the past times, the

Sports Players Get Paid More Than Soldiers
Do sports players make more money than soldiers, if yes is this fair. Should soldiers get paid more
than than sports players. Lots of people oppose to this saying that soldiers should get paid more. Both
sport players and soldiers get hurt. But i think it s fair how the pay is .Who gets paid more soldiers or
players. Should soldiers get paid more than than sports players. Lotz of people oppose to this saying
that soldiers should get paid more. To me its no soldiers shouldn t get paid more then players, because
soldiers do risk their life for us . But so do sports players.IN fact players get paud more then soldiers
because of how they play. Yes, soldiers protect our country, but sports players entertain us. The least a

Onset of Breast Cancer
Onset of breast cancer:
Introduction:
DNA makeup our gene in each cell which control our functions. Gene which increases cell division
are called oncogene, others which slow down cell division, or cell die at right time are called tumor
suppressor gene.Certain changes or mutation in DNA turn on oncogene or turn off tumor suppressor
gene to cause normal breast cell to become cancerous.the stem cell mutation are the actual root of
cancer which causes cancer again and again we use different strategies to diagnose the presence of
these kind of mutation including different scans including CT scan, ultrasonography,FED.
Inherited gene mutations
Certain genes that were mutated in parent can dramatically increase the risk of developing certain
cancer that run in families. For example BRCA gene are tumor suppressor gene a mutation that can
occur in one of these gene in parents cause tumor in progeny, as it no longer suppresses abnormal
growth and causes cancerous cell proliferation. (Bahcall O et al.,2013)
Genetic testing can diagnose women having inherited mutated gene BRCA1 or BRCA2 tumor
suppressor gene. These women can take step to prevent its proliferation. (Goodwin et al.,2009)
Mostly high penetrance mutation can cause the development of cancer although many women do not
develop the cancer due to high penetrance but can be caused by low penetrance or gene variation
causes cancer development. Each of these may have a small individual effect on cancer development,
but the overall

Water Shortage in California is Ruining the Farmers Essay
Water is a precious resource. It is the lifeblood of every living thing on Earth. California is in the
midst of a water crisis. Combined with a three (plus) year drought and many people moving into the
state there is not enough water to support the crops the farmers need to grow. There is also a tiny little
fish that is causing a mess in the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta. The Delta water pumps were turned
off to prevent the extinction of the tiny little fish. Some farmers have to let their fields sit idle for the
fall and spring planting season. This is causing a lot of problems in California. The pumps need to be
turned back on. The needs of the people should come before that of a fish.
California is an ever growing state, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sacramento San Joaquin Delta supplies almost two thirds of the state with water. Many plants and
animals live in the Delta. One of them is a tiny three inch fish called the Delta smelt. It is due to the
endangerment of this fish that the pumps that supply many of the farmlands in the state with water to
grow crops were shut off. The fish were getting caught in the pumps. This caused the
environmentalists to file a suit to get the pumps shut off. When the suit was won it was hard blow to
the farmers. Having to worry about getting enough rain every year is enough of a burden to them.
Now the water they need to grow crops was shut off for a fish. Humanity is more important than a tiny
fish.
Due to the shut off many farmers did not get the rationing of water they need to plant, so many fields
will sit idle this fall and spring. California produces 53% of the nation s fruits and vegetables.
California is also the leading food producer to the world. Some people do not even know California is
facing a water crisis, and more of them did not know California is the Nation s food producer. In a
recent survey 76% knew of the water crisis; however, only 56% of them knew that California is the
leading food producer. With many of the state s fields sitting idle this fall and spring it is going to
cause the produce prices to increase. It also causes the loss of thousands of jobs. An outraged woman
spoke out about the

  • 3. Life Experiences In Life McVay.Session1. Journal I ve had three life experiences I feel have influenced my academic goals for the better. The first one was when I was 18 years old. I had a promising future ahead of me, but I was young and naïve. Getting married was more important than going to college. Before I knew it, we had three children under the age of four years old. I was a busy, stay at home mom, and I absolutely loved it. I valued the closeness I had with my kids. I dabbled a bit in home businesses to bring in extra money. Sales sparked my interests and talents. My marriage was crumbling and I knew I needed a backup plan, so I tried to pursue school but my husband never allowed it. I lived in a controlled environment, with no room for personal growth. The kids and I experienced verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. My marriage lasted 15 years before it came to an end. In 2010, I found myself with three kids, no house, no job, no education, and money. I was starting completely over with nothing but a high school diploma. I was kicking myself for not going to college when I was eighteen. Having someone control my life to the point that you became completely dependent on them was eye opening. This experience taught me a lot, but it also fueled my desire to become educated and not let anyone take that away from me again. I was an advocate for any youth I was in contact with to get an education and become independent before they get married. I spent 5 years finding out who I was while ... • 4. Symptoms And Treatment Of Clinical Depression Recently, critics have questioned the ability of SSRIs to reduce the symptoms of clinical depression. Dr. Hieronymous and his researchers believe high rates of unsuccessful clinical trials additionally fuel negative critiques. The team from University of Gothenburg, Department of pharmacology set out to investigate 32 past trials concerning new medications many containing similar compounds to those found in common market SSRIs such as Paxil, Prozac, Celexa, and Zoloft. Greater than half of the company sponsored SSRI trials, using common test protocols, demonstrated significant depression relief regarding active drug versus placebo groups. Their resulting data points out possible depression measuring defects as a possible source of trial failure, rather than solely SSRI drug ineffectiveness. The Effect Parameter To prove a drug works, researchers must quantify significant patient symptom differences before and after active treatment and differentiate these results against placebo effects. The metric commonly used to measure SSRI impact regarding depressive symptom changes is the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS), or more specifically HDRS 17. Dr. Max Hamilton s article A Rating Scale for Depression , describes his depression scale design developed in the 1950s. HDRS 17 analyses 17 different symptoms associated with depression where each is given a grade reflecting symptom severity (0 to 4, or 0 to 2). • 13. Human Desire Through Questionable Acts In Metamorphoses, Ovid explores human desire through questionable acts performed by multiple characters in his first and eighth book. These driven characters evoke a response from the all powerful gods based on his or her actions. The gods respond to either just or unjust acts in three different ways. They either transform the character into a bird or a tree, or they will allow a character to die. The new form of the characters depicts the four theological locations (heaven, purgatory, earth, and hell). Through these transformations, Ovid explores the fate of humans based on the morality of each character in relation to the gods will. As the most sacred location, heaven provides a place of grandeur and peace for the gods away from the corruption of Earth. In the beginning, the elements oppose one another and create chaos within the shapeless universe. As a solution, Ovid stated, Some god (or kinder nature) settled this / dispute by separating earth from heaven (1:26 27). Therefore, heaven and earth automatically become two opposite locations. These two locations should not mix or interact with each other because disorder would bring ruin to each location. When mortals or earth bound beasts try to invade heaven, the gods protect their homeland by killing the invader. This essay is a past experience Orwell has been across. Orwell changes his view on capital punishment, who has the right to shorten someone s life. Orwell witnesses a hanging of a Hindu man and realizes that it is inhumane and immoral to take a life away from someone. Although Orwell has helped with hangings in his past he realizes that capital punishment is wrong and it is not right to take someone s life away. During the time of the writing of this essay Orwell was living in Burma as a police officer in a local jail to oversee and help with executions. He witnessed many deaths and hangings in his duty as a policeman. Orwell did not like Burma (Biography.com Editors, p.2) and his witnessing of these hangings and mistreatments is where the motivation, to stop the process of executions, for his writing came from. Right from the beginning of the essay, Orwell sets the mood by describing the scene as a sodden morning of the rains (Orwell, p.1). The rain is used to set a sad mood for the essay because of the events that are about to occur. The schedule for the day is to execute, hang, a prisoner after his appeal was denied by the court. Newton was the one to formulate the theory of universal gravity. It is claimed that, when he watched an apple fall from a tree he wondered if the force that caused that the apple to fall was also the force that kept the moon in its orbit. According to the text in Newton (1642), his theory that is described in Newton s law is that gravitational force depends on the mass of each object. His doubt wasn t about the fact that gravity existed, but whether it was what was keeping the moon in its orbit. He figured that, if the force was to be decreased he would be able to calculate the Moon s orbital period. He figured that this was the same force responsible for other motions in the orbit and with his hypothesis; he decided to call this theory universal gravitation. Later in 1858 Japan opened its ports, first to the United States, then to countries like the UK, Russia, and France. This marked the time in which tea became one of Japan s main exports. Transform domain method is divided into frequency domain and wavelet domain. 1) Frequency domain In frequency domain, we insert watermark into the coefficients of a transformed image[24] and then watermarked image is inverted to obtain image in spatial domain.[24] The approaches used in frequency domain are JPEGbased[ 25],spread spectrum [26],[27] and content based approaches [28].Frequency image transformations include the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and others. a) Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) Fourier transform is a powerful tool for analyzing the components of a stationary signal (signal in which there is no change in the properties of signal) [29]. Analysis Of The Meursault Amanda Glassman English 12 10/20/15 Meursault Portrays a Teenager As I stood overlooking the edge of a steep, mountainous cliff, I noticed the waves gradually growing taller. In Hawaii, on this particular day, the waves seemed choppier than normal. Out of fear, I automatically associated the bottom of the cliff with death. On the other hand, my friend had a different mentality. Her eyes glistened as she gazed down. I could see her eagerness to dive straight into the ocean. Without even holding her breath, she was gone. However, her decision was not surprising to me. Like my friend, many teenagers live a day to day basis by sayings such as, life s too short and you can never get second chance.
