Starting System
Includes the battery, starter motor, solenoid, ignition switch and a relay
 Battery is a lead acid storage that supplies electric
energy to an automobile.1
 Ignition Switch uses a key as the actuator3
 Starting motor for rotating an internal combustion
engine.2
 Solenoid is a coil wound into a tightly packed helix.4
 Relay is a simple electromechanical switch.5
 (add’l) Flywheel designed to store the monetum
from combustion to keep the crankshaft turning in
between the engine’s power strokes.6
The starting sysm has w separated but related circuits.
The LOW CURRENT and the HIGH CURRENT circuits.
A gear on the starting motor shaft moves into mesh
with ring gear around the engine flywheel or drive plate
