Masthead Design

    Planning
To come up with a Name of Masthead:
   Masthead it had to be
one that the female First the font had to fit the genre of the
magazine so you would know from the
audience of 16-25 of all Masthead as it is one of the first things
culture and social identity that catches target audience to buy the
                                      Magazine. So I came up with this one;
   who like the genre of
   Indie/Rock/Rock-Pop
i.e. Something simple but
   give a striking appearance
   that would grab the
Reader’s attention I chose this font (Viver Hand Itc) because it
                                     seemed the ragged, disorderly rock
type that would be suitable for the
                                     female audience.
Colour & Design
        • For it to be more visible
          I added weight and to
          make it more appealing
          I added colour to the
          back ground, however it
would take up a lot of
          space and ruin the front
          cover as it might not
          have matched.
• I decided to fill in the
  letters but it seemed as
  the Masthead wouldn’t
  fit the genre of Rock...
• Which is why I created
  another Masthead with
  a drop Shadow that
  would have colour.
• I changed the colour of
  the text to black, the
  weight of the border to
  white and the Shadow
  to Red.
• I tried different colours
  but they weren’t as
  appealing as red and
  they were too bright
  which didn’t fit with the
  convention and I
  couldn’t darken them as
  they wouldn’t blend in
  with the background
• I tried different designs
  and thought that the
  Masthead still looked a
  bit plain and didn’t stand
  out much so I tried
  putting together one of
  my previous one with the
current one to give a sort
  of 3-d effect.
• I tried lighting the colour
  but it wasn’t visible
  enough
