1. CENSORSHIP IN OUR LIVES
Most of people live in a dream. In this dream all people have the same rights and opportunities to enjoy a happy life. Some of us know that’s no truth and try to say this to the rest of the people, but there’s a problem: they don’t want listen. Why? It’s no easy answering with a few words but I’ll try to make a resume.
In my opinion, we live a big lie supported by mass media. They make up a image of reality which does not correspond with truth, ergo we choose our leaders and they are worried about our needs, governments and big corporations always respect law, and judges protect citizens against any abuse, infringement or imposition. That sounds nice but it’s not true. And then, what´s the problem? Censorship is the problem.
We can think that’s not possible because our democracy has laws against censorship. That’s true, but we haven’t laws against self censorship. Journals, televisions and radios need advertising incomes to survive and they know that if they want to maintain their income levels, they have to avoid publishing polemic news about political corruption, economic scandals, environmental disasters, consumer rights or unjustifiable wars or any other type of news that could open our eyes and our minds. And of course journalists avoid these themes because they need their badly-paid jobs.
What can we do to fight against this situation? I don’t know but I’ll continue screaming in the middle of the desert.
JOSÉ DAMIÁN ROIG
Very good- but what a gloomy picture! Surely there are differences between countries. In any case, for this composition you have to weigh pros and cons, not express one view without concessions. Look at the writing section guidance at the end of unit 4. If you feel strongly, as is the case, that censorship is all bad, the thing to do is focus on an aspect of censorship which lends itself to discussion of advantages and disadvantages.
CORRECTIONS
CENSORSHIP IN OUR LIVES
Most of people live in a dream.
