Frogs have smooth skin that always looks wet, they lose moisture easily so are usually found near water, and have long legs and webbed feet that allow them to jump. Toads have rough, dry skin with warts, their skin is more waterproof so they can live farther from water, and they have shorter legs so they hop rather than jump and have broader features with a dumpy appearance.

Life Cycle Of A Frog
The life cycle of a frog can be summarized in 3 stages:
1. Eggs are laid in water and hatch into tadpoles. Tadpoles live in the water, breathing through gills and feeding on algae with their mouths.
2. Over several weeks, tadpoles grow legs and lungs while their tails are absorbed. They transition from filter feeders to small carnivores.
3. Between 12-16 weeks, the tadpoles complete metamorphosis and emerge from the water as tiny frogs, called froglets. As adults, frogs live on land and return to water to breed, restarting their life cycle.

Frog vs toad
- 1. Frog looks very sleek with smooth skin. Toads looks warty with little lumps and bumps on rough skin.
- 2. Frog always looks wet as they just came out of water even they are completely dry. Toads’ skin looks dry all the time even if they are in water.
- 3. Frog loses moisture a lot more easily, so you will rarely see them far away from water. Toads’ skin is more water proof so you will find them in grassland or dry conditions too.
- 4. Frogs are good jumpers as they have longer legs, even longer than their head and body which helps them to jump. Toads take short hops as they have much shorter legs so mostly they prefer to crawl.
- 5. Frogs have webbed feet and pointy nose. They look little athletic. Toads do not have webbed feet. They have much broader nose with dumpy looks.
- 6. Frogs can freeze during winter. Toads go the burrows in winter
- 7. Frog lays eggs in bunches. Toads lay eggs in long tubes.
