Difference between butterfly and moth

1. Butterflies are active during
Day . They are diurnal.
Moths are active during
night. They are nocturnal.

2. Butterflies are most of the
time colorful.
Moths are usually plain.

3. Butterflies have smooth and
lean bodies.
Moths are stockier and have
furry bodies.

4. Butterflies antennae tend to
be long, bare and eject from
the head in a club shape.
Moths antennae tend to be
leaf or feather shape.

5. Butterflies rest with closed
wings means they keep their
wings to one side.
Moths rest with open wings or
sometime folded downwards.

6. Butterflies make chrysalis
during metamorphosis.
Moths make cocoon during
metamorphosis.

7. Butterflies do not have
Frenulum.
Moths have a frenulum, which
is a wing coupling device that
ensures the wings travel
together during flight.
