With the explosion of the maker movement, schools are beginning to embrace creativity. However, what does this mean for assessment? Should we assess the creative process? Should we assess the finished product? Does assessing creativity actually make kids more risk-averse? In this workshop we explore what it means to assess both the creative process and the creative product without leading to risk aversion.
To reduce the number of accidents, schools need to work with traffic safety and Safe Roads awareness. To create an understanding for what can be done, the schools can start this to work from children´s angle with “My Dream Road”.
The result of this handbook will end in arranging an event in your school showing what and how the students have worked with this issue, who got rewards. In the program
you will invite parents, the road administration and politicians. Don’t forget to share your ideas and results of Safe Road to the net.

Repositioning PLASTIC - A nation-wide educational movementAmarkant Jain
"Ban plastics", "Say NO to plastics", "Plastics Ban" are the most misleading campaigns doing the rounds today. There is an urgent need to change perceptions about the plastic industry. The real issue lies with incorrect Waste Management and limited recycling of plastics. It is important to educate the masses about these issues. With proper knowledge and awareness the likelihood of correct disposal and management of plastics will increase. We created a 360 degree strategy to create a nation-wide educational movement to reposition plastics. I would love to discuss this further. Do email me on amarkant.jain@gmail.com
To create a traffic park in order to develop pedagogical strategies that will help the children and young kids, at the Canaverales International School, as well as the children from the other schools in Yumbo, promote a campaign of safe mobility in our roads and streets. To emphasize preventing accidents and promoting safe habits and a save behaviors in the road. To try and lower the number of casualties due to wrong human behavior.
It gives me immense pleasure to speak about the awareness activities taken up by India Youth for Society. A colleague of mine requested me to attend to their events. I did not pay much attention. In fact, I was always busy with my work. So, I could not find time to go. But I had a thought of helping the young people in some way. One day I went to an event to find out what I could do for them. I realized that my involvement is needed more than money. Gradually, I indulged myself in all the activities. Today I am heading the team.

"Nous Participons!" is the final project, a personal Citizen Engagement initiative that allows communication/collaboration between university students and their school management for informed decisions. This is part of the MOOC offered by the World Bank and partners for their course "Engaging Citizens: A Game Changer for Development?"
In our city there is only one traffic safety education park and a group of people from that office who goes to the schools in order to give information and workshops about this. Which makes it almost impossible to get an appointment with the park or even to get them to visit our school; for this reason and considering the school’s infrastructure and after a brainstorming session, the students in 9th grade from the Cañaverales International School proposed to fully adapt the car track in preschool (Pic. 2) into an educational traffic safety park for the children in preschool and elementary. And also in order for this one to be available as a service to other schools as part of the CAS in the IB Program.

Keep Calm and Fit In: Perspectives From My Experiences Working In the CountryAniisu K Verghese
I did a short assignment in the UK in 2016 with the Communications team leading an initiative to audit and refresh the core purpose branding across the organization and help connect colleagues to the values.
Having conceptualized, created and launched a crodwsourcing campaign that recorded over 300 stories within the first 3 weeks since launch and continues to receive a story a day, I am sharing experiences from my interactions and work in the country. Hopefully, it will help others think about how they approach work. More insights can be read at: http://www.aniisu.com/2016/05/25/working-for-the-first-time-in-the-uk-keep-calm-and-fit-in/

5 Internal Communication Trends To Watch For in 2015 And BeyondAniisu K Verghese
With the world of work changing rapidly and expectations from the increasingly young workforce rising, internal communication in 2015 and beyond will never be the same. In this presentation I share perspectives that internal communicators must consider to stay relevant, add value and continue making an impact. Keen to hear your views.
You know the work on hand. You have a fair idea on how to get things done. You want to grow and get better at what you do. Yet, when you reflect on the outcomes a few months or a year later you feel not much has changed. Or plans you made didn’t get the attention it needed. Often what you began at the start dropped off the list.
Making progress is hard work and without a plan and knowledge of what it takes to move ahead you can get overwhelmed. Identifying what is important, defining what is achievable and setting clear measures are essential to progress. Having a mentor is very relevant to discuss approaches and gain perspectives.
The progress guide covers actions you can take to self-reflect, engage stakeholders, your manager, your team and the community among others.
Keeping a progress handy can hopefully keep you grounded.

Internal Communications and Social Media - the India PerspectiveAniisu K Verghese
I recently presented at the 2011 World IABC Conference at San Diego, US.
The World Conference brings 1,400 business communication professionals from 40 countries to learn about the latest trends, issues and best practices in communication. Over 70 conference sessions were organized into seven tracks and presented by a global faculty of communication experts.
My topic: Social Media and Internal Communications - the India Perspective
Background: Social media adoption for internal communication in India is growing and employee engagement is one of the most important outcomes of this trend. In India social media adoption challenges include lack of business context, inability to decode cultural nuances and security concerns. Organizations need to revisit policies, build better controls and involve staff to fructify ideas for effective change management and improved decision making. Also vital are efforts at managing online reputation and averting crisis through an in-depth knowledge of social media. This presentation shares social media strategies for organizations working in India to improve internal adoption and demonstrate value.
NAASCOM Foundation invited me to speak on ‘Leveling Web 2.0 for social causes’ at their Connect IT forum at Bangalore on March 24, 2011. The presentation slides share insights and tactics that non profits can benefit from.
This presentation walks you through the process of building a personal brand using social media. It also indicates the need to appreciate why building a brand early helps get a head start.
I recently had the opportunity to address a group of leaders from a leading IT services provider. Here are thoughts shared with them on recession proofing communication during a downturn and the role of leaders.
During a recession, organizations make knee jerk reactions based on how they see the markets panning out which can be detrimental to employee morale and customer engagement. Organizations go after support functions and resize and reduce budgets, freeze benefits, curtail training and avoid engaging with employees. Very often, in their quest to get ‘leaner’ and ‘sharper’, organizations lose the ‘human’ touch’. Employees have good memories and these actions are always held against the business. I am aware of organizations cutting down on something as basic as toilet paper but allowing off sites at external venues to continue. Not surprisingly, trust is eroding for senior leadership (according to Edelman’s Trust Barometer) and organizational communication tools.
To summarize, the global downturn has posed numerous challenges for organizations and employees alike. That said, downturns may not last, but organizations that communicate effectively will. It is important to focus on the positives, craft consistent messages, reinforce often, communicate directly and focus on the positives while involving employees.
Last but not least, it is vital for organizations to revisit the core of their existence and the core values that will sustain them in the long run.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
MATATAG CURRICULUM: ASSESSING THE READINESS OF ELEM. PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS I...NelTorrente
