This document describes a Road Safety Education Programme developed in India to help children learn how to safely navigate roads. It notes that over 17 people die on Indian roads every hour, many of them children. The programme was created with input from children, parents, teachers, and the community. It consists of 30 road safety activities for various age groups in schools, along with 12 community activities, and aims to provide children with the understanding, confidence and skills to make road safety a way of life. 16. Child Road Safety Package includes:
• 30 road safety activities that will be conducted in and around the
school on a weekly basis by the teachers
• 12 community activities to support the children in building their
capacity and to raise their awareness about road safety, which will
be conducted on a monthly basis and managed by a project team
member
• A full day of Child Road Safety Education teacher training
• Guidance and support in implementing the Child Road Safety
Education Package (max. 3 hours per week)
• Monthly monitoring and review meetings to discuss the results
• All materials that are needed to conduct the school activities:
-A module with worksheets for the children
