2. Project Description
• Create a campaign to spread awareness
against Texting & Driving among Stockton
students.
• Organize various events using different
advertising and promotional strategies to
reach out to students on campus.
3. Goals & Objectives
• Don’t Text & Drive Pledge
– Tabling: Encourage students to sign pledge against Texting & Driving
– Create a bulletin board or wall to display the pledges signed by students
• Create a Facebook page
– Get students to LIKE our page
– Inform subscribers of the upcoming events, as well as educate them
about the potential risks of Texting & Driving
– Share news, facts and tips related to Texting & Driving to make them
more aware
• Reach out to Stockton Police Department
– Organize an event where a representative could come in and give us a
speech or bring over a wracked car as a display
– Space request for tabling and additional events
• Distributional Methods
– Flyers/Handouts
– Posters
– TV ad
– Promotional Items (Thumb bands, Bumper stickers, etc.)
– Student Organizations
5. Strengths
• Seriousness of the subject matter
• Large student body population
• Cooperation with many departments (e.g. Stockton
Police Departments, Student Services, Student
Organizations, etc.)
• Presence on Facebook
• Additional help from the Stockton Student

6. Weaknesses
• Busy schedules of target audience
• Time constraints encountered due to
Hurricane Sandy
• Limited financial resources
• SET (student organization) backed out at last
minute from providing assistance for tabling

• Bring awareness to the driving population
on the Stockton Campus

the police department

19. Recommendations
• Distracted driving, including texting and driving, has
reached epidemic proportions in the United States,
and has proven to be deadly for thousands of people
on our roads every year.
• We felt strongly that this is a worthy cause and should
continue to be front and center on the awareness
scale for all of us.
• Thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands of
injuries could be avoided if everyone would commit to
this cause.
• The only way to curtail the catastrophic events
distracted driving causes is to continue to be diligent in
promoting awareness and caution.
