Hunger Satire
Everyone feels it at one point or another. Hunger will sink its claws into anyone it comes in contact
with. Hunger, to most people, is their stomachs making slow rumbling noises; sometimes a deep ache
in the pit of the stomach; not knowing what it is they crave but know they want something. They say
hunger is simply the body needing food. While this is correct, it s the ignorant man s answer. I was
one of those ignorant people, until I experienced what it feels like to need something so bad I can t
think of anything else.
Hunger is not limited to someone merely wanting a midnight snack. It s the pain experienced when the
stomach has nothing inside but still tries to digest; the pain someone who knows they need to eat but
cannot fathom putting one bite of food into their mouth feels. Hunger is the feeling starving people
feel, as if their innards are being twisted so tight they might pop; the look in their eyes when they see a
restaurant worker bring out the trash and set it just out of their reach. Hunger ... Show more content on

It is not just wanting a sandwich; hunger is present everywhere. The look in someone s eyes when
they desire nothing more than to travel the world, that s hunger. When a musician spots a new piece of
music, and their finger twitch at the thought of being able to play it, they can t help themselves they
need to play it. Hunger is the feeling of love; when a person wants another so much they feel as
though they might burst; the need of the one that is not there with them. The feeling in the center of a
person who wants to do what they love, but have no time to do it. It s present when someone loses a
loved one; the feeling of regret for not doing enough with them; the emptiness when they realize that
person is gone forever. Knowing the one person desired most cannot be there, because they re off
living their life, or dead. Hunger is the feeling of seeing others laugh with ease, and not being able to it

Johnny Got His Gun Analysis
Leaving the Harbor Every individual comes to a point in their life in which they begin to swim away
from the harbor their parents raised them in, and begin navigating their own life. Dalton Trumbo
uniquely portrays the familiar concept of coming of age, within a passage from his novel Johnny Got
His Gun, in which he depicts a son wanting to take a friend fishing instead of his father who has taken
him annually during their camping trip. Trumbo gives insight into the internal turmoil that strikes
when confronting ones parents about wanting to drift away from the anchor they ve been for them. He
clearly articulates his point, illustrating the flow in thought from tense to reflective using precise
selection of detail, applying a shift in point of view, and naturalistic imagery. Trumbo shifts the tone
from tense to reflective through effectively selecting details which portray the impact of the encounter
between the father and son. Opening the passage Trumbo asserts the significance of the tradition by
carefully depicting the campsite, in a way which he conveys an atmosphere of nostalgia. Describing
how his memories included the pine needles...falling on their tent, sitting staring into the fire, fishing,
and hearing the streams which connected the lakes throughout the night. Reveling an appreciation of
company is present in the boy s childhood which lays the foundation for his anxiety to inform his
father of his wants, as the two were once connected like the streams and

Orthodontic Brace Case Study
Please accept this letter as Lola Gayton s appeal to Amerigroup s decision to deny coverage for
Orthodontic braces. It is my understanding based on your letter of denial dated April 6, 2017 that this
procedure has been denied based on a few reasons, the first being: Must be needed to protect life,
prevent significant illness or disability, or alleviate severe pain . Lola is in constant pain due to her
crowding of teeth; her gums are in pain to the point that she can only eat on the left side of her mouth
and she started to apply a wet cloth on the right side of her mouth to help eliminate the throbbing pain
that she was having. Her pain was affecting her at school and during her state FSA testing she did not
perform to her full potential due to her mouth/teeth discomfort. When it comes to Lola s teeth pain
affecting her daily functions of eating, and school work it is a major problem. ... Show more content

My understanding of this statement is Lola needs braces furthermore due to her extremely small
mouth and family history of using palate expanders, myself and her two older brothers used them prior
to braces, to make space. The palatal expander helps to widen the roof of the mouth and expand the
airway, helping Lola breathe. However, Lola s mouth is too small for the expander and she needs to
have two teeth removed prior to braces. Lola s small mouth and added crowding caused her to need a
lower lingual bar that was applied at age seven, and was in place for three years. Lola snores and there
is a family history of sleep apnea, the treatment of orthodontic intervention can help snoring and
possibly prevent the serious illness, sleep

Electroconvulsive Therapy
An emerging area of experimental research in MDD treatment relates to the use of electromagnetic
devices and stimulators in a therapeutic context. The approach builds on historical treatment methods
like electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), which though exceptionally effective in the short term, often
sees a return of depressive symptoms. Compounding the problem with ECT was the increased
tolerance some patients showed, thus requiring higher and higher voltage dosages to achieve the same
results, not unlike drug tolerance, and side effects like generalized mental confusion in the immediate
aftermath of the therapy. As Ren et al. (21014) describe in electromagnetic treatments have advanced
considerably since their inception and sophisticated new

quite often and took after his father in that sense and embraced his role of a pianist. Other composers
in the Classical Period consist of Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van
Beethoven. (Mello, 2017). Hayden, Mozart and Beethoven are perhaps the greatest composers of all
time. When people think of them, they think of their great works, or incidental stories, but they all had
a serious effect of the growth and development of the piano. This is often over looked and
underappreciated. Mozart challenged inventors, composers, teachers, and people each day. While
people had choice words to say about Mozart, he developed music in a way that not many people had.

With technology changing it is difficult to keep up with the progress. The piano today varies from the
piano in the classical romantic period in ways such as:
The modern Piano has 88 keys (52 white and 36 black), allowing the artist to emote with music. Each
key corresponds to two or three strings. The base notes have long strings and the higher the notes go,
the shorter the strings get. There are 100 parts to each key and 30 adjustments can be made to each
key. (LifeIsMusic, 2015).
Something else that has changed within the past few decades is that, since the Classical Period, almost
every middle class to upper class family had a piano in their household and it was expected that every
member of the family was to learn to play it. Because of the way technology has been moving, music
has been primarily heard through phones or laptops and could be made through other sources of
technology too. Unfortunately that means that the life of the piano has been at a standstill within
chamber music. Thankfully, a lot of composers today have kept the piano in their works and it is just
as important as it was during the Romantic and Classical

African Americans In The 1900 s
Brendan Campbell 12/8/14
In the 1900 s African Americans faced two main struggles in the South:
segregation and discrimination. Due to these hardships, the Southern African Americans migrated
North. This was called the Great Migration; which was a movement
of 6 million Southern African Americans into Northern cities like Chicago and Harlem. This
relocation led to the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920 s. The Harlem Renaissance
was a rebirth in African American culture through art, music, dance, and poetry. The
Great Migration influenced the Harlem Renaissance by attracting African Americans to
the North where they felt that they had more power and equality there, so they
expressed it. Writers like, James Weldon Johnson contributed ... Show more content on

These newspapers got to the
South by having Northern train workers put some papers on when they were going to a
Southern location. Once they reached the South the blacks would discreetly hand the
papers to others without getting caught by previous White Slave Owners ( Chicago
Newspaper Sparked the Great Migration ). Although African Americans expected
Harlem to be desegregated and have nice housing; it did not meet their expectations
they had. De Facto Segregation was the unwritten practice of keeping black and whites
separated. This affected their housing, which forced them to live in slums of the city
called ghettos. Ghettos were sections of a city where a minority or an ethnic group lives
due to social, economical, or legal pressure(Liccone). The African Americans left the
South due to discrimination and Voting Restrictions. This Great Migration then led to a
rebirth of African American culture called the Harlem Renaissance.
Despite the hardships African Americans faced in Harlem, they looked at the
North as a place where they could freely express themselves. One important Harlem
Renaissance writer was James Weldon Johnson. James attended Atlanta University

Summary Of The Concert By Gerrit Van Honthorst
The art work of Gerrit Van Honthorst called The Concert was painted during the 15th or 16th century.
The title of the painting gives a clue as to what is happening within the painting. The painting is an oil,
canvas. The title The Concert suggests just as in the painting, a group of people is gathering for a
concert. There are intense muted hues of yellow, blue, red, and green. The painting contains traditional
linear perspective and the book placed on the table helps create the 3 D dimensional on the overall
painting. The shapes of the figures are sharply defined and the objects such as the table, book, and
string instruments. There are diagonal rhythms throughout the painting in which it creates movement.
The light source in the upper left allows the source light to have a more natural appearance throughout
the painting. The shadows at the right hand corner and the men wearing green in the middle contrast
the main object with the most sources of lighting. The objects shadows and lighting create dimension
and a vivid sense of more contrast. There are areas in the making with more contrast and the sharp
contrast that creates movement in the painting. The shadows and the lighting throughout the painting
show gradations and the highlights create more depth. Staring from the upper left hand corner with the
first figure of a gentleman wearing a hue of blue and yellow, the left side of his face and garment
shows the source light in right above him. The source light above the

Write An Essay On The Most Dangerous Game
As I trot the familiar path from the locker room to the stadium, the air begins to thicken and crackle
with static. The sound of cleats scuffing along on the pavement of the track onto the turf, with a faint
cheering off in the distance is not easily recognizable inside the helmet. My heart crescendos its beats
per second as I get a glimpse of the visiting team. They form a blurry huddle on the other side of the
stadium, joined by their fandom that looks hazy like a demonsterous figure from my dreams. I try hard
not to notice their fist pumping movements.
Our own huddle is starting its formation on the sidelines in what seems to be a superpower figure that

The game allows freedom to let go of any fears or baggage I have. The game defines me. Elaborate
here. The game doesn t care if I am a good writer, proficient in English, or how many AP s I have

I dance to the tempo creating a story that is all mine for those pulsating sixty minutes that I am in there
keeping pace with the other opponents that at times are afraid of me, sometimes they want to dance
with me and at other times they try hard to stop the music that is playing in my head. But the volume

myself and when in motion with the team, that holds me safely in its wings, I am free to

Louisiana Code Of Civil Procedure Essay
Pursuant to Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure Article 927, Defendant, Lauris Hollis ( Defendant ),

Should Undergraduates Specialize Analysis
In the essay titled Should Undergraduates Specialize? Written by Patrick N. Allitt and published in
Reading for Writers, in New York in 2013, the author presents a discussion about the differences of the
United States and The United Kingdom s school systems. Mr. Allit proposes that U.S students should
have a choice between the two school systems.
The essay is was written by Patrick Allitt to present the contrasts in his college experience to that of
his daughter, Frances, who is about to become a freshman at Emory University. The author presents
some of the obviously outward contrasts in their college careers by discussing the differences in
college systems, criterion, cost, curriculum and length of each program. Mr. Allit explains that his

The difference in these two systems create a diverse college experience. For Mr. Allit, preparing for
college consisted purely of academic criterion. There was an entrance exam, followed by a personal
interview. Mr. Allit s daughters experience will differ as the expectation for not only academic
criterion, but pre college prep is essential. Frances was encouraged to participate in extracurricular
activities as well as pursue community service, as these would greatly improve her odds into getting
into a University. The author also explains that the cost was significantly different for him, that it will
be for his daughter. Mr. Allit discusses that due to the meritocratic school system he was apart of, each
students tuition was paid in full and grants were given to cover boarding and living expenses. His cost
of college was about $400.00. His daughter on the other hand, being apart of the decentralized system,
is expected to pay approximately $150,000.00 for a college education at an big league school. One of

These issues will also be addressed through marketing and sales efforts.
Management will also need to develop a Sales and Marketing Department to handle on going market
analysis and sales. Hire a marketing manager and a sales manager. The company must remain aware
of changing market conditions and work to be more proactive and flexible. Through marketing and
sales efforts, Azalea will be able to address customer base growth, expansion of distribution, and
financial issues. They will also be able to maintain greater control over product placement.
Competition for Azalea is moderate and also easily addressed through growth of the product and
name/reputation. Currently there are few gumbo products on the market that hold the reputation of this
product.
Marketing managers should focus on nutritional value and hand made quality of the product as well.
The customer is aging (baby boomers) and more weight conscious. This very tasty gumbo is not high
in calories and the company should capitalize on the nutritional pluses of the product. Be certain the
company is in line with the Food and Nutritional Labeling Act of 1990.
Management will need to implement a gradual price increase. Begin with a 2% price increase to ease
immediate financial stress. The cash flow, revenue, and debt issue can be resolved most quickly by
adding retail sales and catering. When the business acquires its

With this limited sort of resection the residual mid septal bulge still redirects flow posteriorly: SAM
persists because flow still gets behind the mitral valve. It is only when the deeper portion of the septal

With this in mind, a modification of the Morrow myectomy termed extended myectomy, mobilization

Why Did The Big Bang Happen
Energy cannot be created or destroyed so how did the Universe or anything start. There is a theory that
is called the Big Bang. There is a lot of evidence the Big Bang exploding. There are a lot of questions
that have not been answered yet. Also there is a lot of the Universe that has not been explored yet.
The most recent saying of the Big Bang is that it exploded. The Big Bang was a little dot somewhere
in the universe. In the middle of the dot there was a lot of heat. It was really hot that the people that
study the big bang say that it exploded because of the heat that was in the middle. They are also saying
that that space is what it is expanding. People who study the Big Bang say that there is something out

After a while of searching for it, they finally found it. It looks like and egg and over the years that

In conclusion, for now we have to believe about the Big Bang. People who study the Big Bang are
trying to find something else in the Universe that can explain how the Universe started or how space is

The Impact Of Prescription Drugs On The Health Sector
A substantial piece of the U.S market in the health sector is run by the prescription drugs and,
therefore, making the U.S the global largest market of pharmaceuticals accounting for more than a
third of the world s expenditure on drugs. It is estimated that in 2014 slightly over $300 billion were
spent on prescription drugs which accounts for roughly 10 cents of every dollar in the U.S healthcare
market. The U.S expenditure on prescription drugs has been growing at an annual rate of 11% for the
last 27 years between 1980 and 2007. But the expenditure has slowed between 2008 and 2013 to about
2% annual average which has been occasioned by several reasons including the 2008 financial
quagmire which was also responsible for the reduction in the overall U.S health care costs, the
application of controls towards insurer drug utilization and also the production of a less amount of
new blockbuster drugs within that period (Institute for Healthcare Informatics, 2014)..
The slow growth in the prescription market could also be attributed to the rising increased utilization
of cheap generic drugs with patents for the best selling drugs also being outdated. According to the
Centers for Medicare Medicaid services, the year 2014 witnessed a prescription drug spending
increase of over 12 percent that was partly due to an increase in the use of specialty drugs. It also
projected an average annual growth of 6.3% between 2015 and 2024 (Institute for Healthcare
Informatics, 2014). The

Standard cost of direct labour is calculated by multiplying the standard labour hour (comprised of both
the manufacturing standard hour and packing standard hour) and standard labour hour rate. Finally, to
calculate the standard cost of overhead, the overhead costs are distributed to different departments say
production department and service department which is called primary distribution and then the costs
of service departments are redistributed to production departments which is called secondary
distribution. From that, the variable and fixed overhead rate is calculated. By multiplying the rates
with the standard labour hour of a product, the fixed and variable overhead can be got. At last,
standard direct material cost, standard direct labour cost and standard overhead cost are added to get
the total standard cost of a product.
In cost variance analysis, the deviation between standard cost and actual cost of a cost element is
calculated. If actual cost is greater than the standard cost, then situation is called unfavourable and if
the actual cost is lower than the standard cost, then the situation is called favourable. By calculating
different cost variances, the company can take precautionary actions.
There are some major weaknesses in standard costing procedure and cost variance analysis. In
standard costing procedure, the standard

Ruth. Ruth s father worked as a bartender and ultimately opened his own tavern. Many believe that
George was an orphan all his life, but for the first seven years of his life he was with his parents, but
he survived without guidance on the dirty, crowded streets of the Baltimore riverfront.
On June 13, 1902, George Herman Ruth took his seven year old to St. Mary s Industrial School for
Boys. Not only did he place young George in the school, but he also signed over custody of the boy to

career of Babe Ruth.
In the mornings, Ruth would go into Landers Coffee Shop in Boston, and it is here that he met Helen
Woodford, a seventeen year old waitress. They married on October 17, 1914 in Ellicott City,

In December of 1919 Babe was sold to the New York Yankees. Prior to Ruth s arrival in New York,
the team had never won a pennant. With quot; The Babe quot; as part of their team they became a
dominant force in major league baseball, winning seven pennants and four World Championships
from 1920 to 1933. In 1921, the couple adopted a baby girl, Dorothy.

Weed In The Film
Family teaches us the importance of knowledge, education, hard work and effort. If you don t put
enough effort in anything you do, don t expect the best in return. Not everyone will knows the true
meaning of family until the situation is bigger than you can handle and when you need someone there
to listen or grade you to do the right thing, also to educate you to make the right choices. Never
underestimate a person in your life that s always there for you, that will go out of their way to make
sure you re alright. People have different stories to how they live their life. Whether it is it going to

When their father died, their mother got depressed. She was drinking alcohol daily and was never
sober. So June being the oldest had to step in and take care of his family. June had to sell weed to put

director gives the message that you should stick with your family and trust your instinct no matter
what the situation or what people say. Also some issues of class/wealth. In each of these films we see
how important it is to never give up on your family and how important it is to stink with your family
through anything and everything. The director s Patricia Riggen (Miracles from Heaven) and Jamal

Miracles from Heaven is when Anna was in hospital. Christy went to church and people came up to

Rem Sleep Research Papers
Most people dream anywhere from four to seven times per night, with each dream progressively
lasting longer as the body remains sleeping (Woolman). Some people say they don t experience
dreaming at all, which is not possible. What they are really saying is that they don t remember their
dreams, which is perfectly normal. What many do not realize is that in order to go into a dream state ,
it can take about thirty minutes. This is considered the rapid eye movement (REM) cycle. During
REM sleep, the human brain is just as active as it is if the person was in a conscious state. The length
of a dream is determined by how long the person is sleeping. Studies have shown that drugs and
alcohol regularly slow down a person s REM cycle, which results ... Show more content on

Cognitive theory on dreaming was explored by Calvin Hall, a behavioral psychologist. Hall writes,
The images of a dream are the concrete embodiments of the dreamer s thoughts; these images give
visual expression to that which is invisible, namely, conceptions ( Calvin Hall and The Cognitive
Theory of Dreaming ). Dreams are a way of displaying how we envision the our lives. Hall did a study
where he asked his students about their dreams, after studying thousands of them, he came down to
what dreams are really about. Hall suggested that the main cognitive structures that dreams reveal
include: conceptions of self, others, the world, penalties, or conflict ( Calvin Hall and The Cognitive
Theory of Dreaming ). Other studies that have been done about dreaming disclose that it can predict
what s next in life. Reports indicate dreams have foretold events upcoming in the dreamer s life,
including death. One study reports that 70 percent of women successfully predicted the sex of their
unborn child based upon dreams (Dreams Theories of Personality). Michael J. Brues, a sleep doctor,
worked on a study and concluded a theory to dreams, such as our brain and thinking, how we react to
certain situations, even depression or anxiety. Another aspect that has been discovered that is
accountable to dreaming is depression, anxiety, or

Dysfunctional Family Dynamics And The Integral Value Of...
Examples of dysfunctional families can be seen everywhere in society on television, in movies, in
music, and of course, in literature. Many books have recently been published that include complex,
conflicted families. The purpose of using dysfunctional families in popular literature is to make the
story more relatable, show different views on the traditional family dynamic, and to spark interest with
readers. These three intentions are shown in both George RR. Martin s Game of Thrones and Alice
Munro s Who Do You Think You Are?. Both works contain complex characters that illustrate
abnormal family dynamics and the integral value of dysfunctional families in literature. This idea of
dysfunction among families can be seen in the Lannister and Stark families in Game Of Thrones and
Rose s immediate family and her husband in Who Do You Think You Are?. The Lannister family in
George RR. Martin s Game Of Thrones are one of the most powerful and rich families in the series.
They are a prosperous dynasty and live the lives of kings and queens. However, they are also one of
the most dysfunctional families in all of literature. The lives of the Lannister family are filled with
incest, betrayal, murder and destruction. The Stark family are yet another example of dysfunction in a
family structure seen in Game Of Thrones. Rose s family in Alice Munro s Who Do You Think You
Are? are the cause of her having a very sad childhood. She resides with her father, his second wife
named Flo and

Gender Inequality In Boys And Girls By Alice Munro
In Alice Munro s Boys and Girls inequality is a proven action throughout the story. Gender roles and
stereotypes is what occur when the role or behavior is taught to a person as appropriate to their gender.
Alice Munro shows us in the story that in a second someone can change based off of what someone
else thinks they should be and do.
For example in the short story it shows us that women should be in the kitchen and men should be
outside working in the fields and providing for his family. When reading a poem entitled Gender
Inequality by
Ella Linero, it tells us that men and women are put into a system where gender inequality is being
ruled in the world. That men and women had to act a certain way and that women should be feminine
while on the other hand men should only be masculine. The time in which the short story Boys and
Girls took place was a time when men and women were not equal. Mothers had traditional roles,
which often left them working in the house while men also had their roles outside of the house. The
male was the dominate figure while the woman had to be subservient. You didn t see women outside
unless they had to go outside and does something for example, hang the clothes on wires and so on.
Gender Inequality took a toll on women in the early 1950 s.
In the short story Boys and Girls the main character is a young girl who struggles within herself and
also has external struggles as her father tries to change who she is and force her into a gender role that
he thinks is important. Munro does not give the girl a name and by doing this the protagonist is seen as
someone who has no identity and no power. This little girl in the story helps her father in their fox
breading farm which she enjoyed so much. Sadly that all changed for her as she got older and her help
wasn t needed. The narrator had problems coming in to terms with the role she was to lead. She
wanted to work outside with her father doing the work that she only knew to do and this work was so
important to her. But sadly the narrators mother tried to her in to work inside the house which I would
say to wing her off of what she enjoyed so much in the fox farm. The narrator didn t like being in the
house doing what her mother was

And secondly the members who are net contributers to the Community budget wish the level of

This keeps the costs of enlargement relatively cheap for the EU in terms of finances but the economic
weaknesss of the acceding members may be wrongly assesed and insufficiently supported.(Baltas
2004, p.147)
If we look at the economic structures of the new member states we find that they contribute a large but
rather inefficient agricutural sector: In total, enlargement to the CEECs will more than double the size
of the EU s agricultural labour force, increase its agricutural area by about a half, but raise its output
by about only 12 percent (Nugent 2004, p.14) The problem here is similar to that facing cohesion
funding and so is the solution. Common Agricultural Policy(CAP) support was to be gradually phased
in up to 2013. The change in the agricultural sector induced by the new member states is one of the
reasons why there have been debates on agricultural reform and it will be a key issue in the enlarged
EU.
The are several reasons why the EU 15 made a modest financial support for enlargement. Scarcity of
financial means imposed by the European Monetary Union(EMU) is one of them. The paymaster of

Music And The Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal music is often criticized for being a negative influence due to the lyrical content and
aesthetics of the genre. For those unfamiliar with heavy metal, it is easy to make this correlation
because of the darker and often taboo subject matter present throughout the music. With a little more
analysis, however, it can be discovered that these same aspects thought to be negative actually bring
forth positive results among metal listeners. What is found in heavy metal music is actually a display
of emotions and energy that often have a purging effect which helps listeners of metal cope with the
constantly changing world around them. Heavy metal is used as a tool for expressing emotion in a
nonviolent way, rather than through physical destruction sought by some other genres.
Heavy metal is a lot like an experiment to the people who do not understand it or those who dislike it.
They look at it as a disgrace, dissect it, run tests on it, and analyze the results in order to get
ammunition to put it down.
Researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia have found that when volunteers were
exposed to extreme music genres including heavy metal, emo, hardcore, punk, and screamo, they
actually experienced a range of positive feelings, such as calmness, happiness or being inspired. The
study, conducted by honours student Leah Sharman and psychologist Genevieve Dingle and published
in the June 26, 2015 edition of Science Alert by writer Peter Dockrill , took 39

The Puritan s Beliefs on Self Reliance
Are we or are we not? That is the question. Does the current generation of Americans have the same
values and morals of the Puritans of the 1600 s? Some would say yes and others would say no. This
paper will show both sides of the argument. It will discuss whether or not we share the values of self
reliance and honesty like the Puritans treasured. This essay will discuss the importance of the family
and home to the Puritans and compare that to today s standards. It will also discuss other issues not

In modern America, though, people are not taught to rely on themselves. Many people are homeless
and they rely on the government for money, food, clothes, and homes. They do not go out and take
their life into their own hands. They live their whole life relying on someone else to do the work for
them. It is not fair to the rest of the people that are self reliant and can take care of themselves. The
family and home were probably one of the biggest values of the Puritans. The Puritans stressed
togetherness within the family. They wanted families to be tight. As religious as the Puritans were,
family came before religion. Family life is also important in modern times. People are urged to spend
more time with their families and try to bring them closer together. Children grow up wanting to have
a family of their own they can take care off. It is one of the pleasures of adulthood. Family life has a
key role in today s society, but it definitely does not have the biggest role. Attending church regularly
was very important to the Puritans. They based their lives around their religion. The entire reason the
Puritans came to America was to escape the Catholic Church of England. They believed that if you did
not go to church on a regular basis, you were siding with the devil. It was practically a sin not to go to

Analyte Interaction Between Gauguin And Van Gogh In Arles
Jaehun Lee
11/8/17
Second Writing Assignment
The explosive interaction between Gauguin and Van Gogh in Arles in 1888 can be said to condense
and bring to head a conflict between two different ways of conceiving art and aesthetic experience that
had been brewing throughout the 19th Century. How do you see the contrast between their approaches
to painting? And how does this contrast bear out these different tendencies?
While the painters after the Impressionism period were called the Post Impressionists, the label is
quite reductive. Each artist had their own unique style, from Seurat s pointillism to Signac s mosaic
like divisionism, Cezanne, Émile Bernard, and others. These artists were all connected in that they
were reacting to the aesthetics of Impressionism. Two of the more influential painters from this
movement were Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin, who aimed to connect with viewers on a deeper
level by ignoring a Naturalistic approach that attempted to merely depict the real. However, the two
had distinct styles which attempted to achieve the same goal: to access Nature s mystery and meaning
beyond its superficial, observable level. In close examination of Vincent van Gogh s Self Portrait
(Dedicated to Paul Gauguin) and Paul Gauguin s Self Portrait with Portrait of Émile Bernard (Les
misérables), one may clearly see the two artists contrasting styles on display.
Van Gogh based his paintings on the observable world around him, but he wanted to paint beyond the

The Characters Of Moses In The Old Testament
The Old Testament in the bible is a very outstanding it has different amounts of books that
compromise the Old Testament differences between Christian Churches as well as the names
throughout the bible. It has 39 marvelous books in the bible, that tell different stories about important
people and how they change the world that we live in today. If I had to pick on a character I would
have to pick Moses. Moses, he is a character in the Old Testament and a prophet that was picked to
lead Israel out of Egyptian slavery, and delivered the Ten Commandments. Moses was born 1400 BC
in New Kingdom of Egypt, he is the son of Amram and Yochebed, and had siblings named Miriam
and Aaron. Moses had a lot of strengths in the Old Testament he guided people to battle against Egypt,
he defended slaves, and fought the men who harmed the women. His weakness would have to be he
was a very weak speaker and struggles with anger weakness. In Exodus 2:11 says One day, after
Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor.

Horror Narrative Essay
The horror genre has many lessons to teach us as an audience although being the genre most
connected with that of ridiculousness. It is regularly associated with the reaction it seeks from its
audience; both emotional and physical. In cinema success is measured by terrifying chills, bloody
deaths and the volume of the audiences scream. The appeal of horror narrative in literature, film and
theatre lies in the pleasures it associates with fear, suspense and terror; no matter what it is trying to
convey to the audience. Even when writers layer the genre with academic thoughts on psychology,
theology and the world in which we live in, horror remains the primary outlet to examine the notions
of dread, uncertainly, mysterious and the abject. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Films such as Carrie (DePalma 1976), Misery (Reiner 1990), Evil Dead (Raimi 1981), The Exorcist
(Friedkin 1973), The Birds (Hitchcock 1963) have all been made into stage productions; treading the

In 2014 the London theatre scene will be dominated by horror on stage. Productions of Fatal

outdo it as it can carry a blow that is extremely intensified because it is live. The question for the stage
though is how do we adapt iconic horror from screen to stage without the magic of high expensive

Horror on stage could be said to date back to the Ancient Greeks and their tales of incest, murder and
revenge, only using the role of the messenger as narrator to the horrors that happened off stage. In

presented explicit revenge tales from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s. The plays placed emphasis on

The Treatment Of Antibiotic Resistance
Antibiotic Resistance occurs when bacteria reformat themselves in order to become unaffected by the
drugs or substances created to terminate them. They gain resistance to the drugs which causes the
drugs to be ineffective of use and leading to more harm. Antibiotic Resistance commonly occurs
within patients due to physicians misusing or overusing antibiotics. This creates a common resistance
to patients and resulting in the constant creation for new antibiotics that would treat the bacteria. The
main conflict generally evolves from medical stewardship where physicians have the responsibility to
optimally heal their patients to their best efforts. However this is being neglected by misuse of
antibiotics due to several reasons, including patients ignorance and fear of malpractice. The authors in

Causes Of The Secession Crisis
Historians everywhere have many different ideas about why the Secession Crisis occurred. Moreover,
there are many debates about whether secession about slavery at all. Yet, the Secession Crisis was a
time in which many factors came into play.
The argument being made by McPherson in Antebellum Southern Exceptionalism is that even though
American Exceptionalism is a term that can be used loosely, such was not the case for Southern
Exceptionalism. Southern Exceptionalism is this idea that the period of time before, during, and after
the Civil War, the South managed to create another identity of itself, completely separate from that of
the North (McPherson 41). Furthermore, McPherson believes that the reason for the Secession Crisis

He gave many examples detailing why the bill was useless, one of them being that It is true that some
southerners cherished the hope of making Kansas the sixteeneth slave state, but even if they had
succeeded, it would have been a nominal and temporary triumph gained at excessive cost
(Fehrenbacher 90). Fehrenbacher explains how even if Kansas did become a slave state, by looking at
the whole picture, it was clear that ultimately the cons outweighed the pros. There was no point and in
the end it created even more anger. Overall, historians all over the world have many ideas as to why
the Secession Crisis occurred. McPherson believes that it is because of Southern Exceptionalism,
Gienapp believes it s because of the Slave Power, and Fehrenbacher believes it s because of the
Kansas Nebraska Act. However, though they all seem to have different ideas they all have one thing in
common: the trend. In his essay, McPherson does in fact bring up the subject of slavery. In this entire
essay, McPherson only speaks briefly about the effect that slavery had on secession, stating that The
fear that slavery was being hemmed in and threatened with destruction contributed to the defensive
aggressive style of Southern political behavior (McPherson 46). Furthermore, McPherson uses slavery
as a way to cement the idea of how the North and South had this difference in beliefs, rather than

Treatments of heavy metal contaminants from effluent discharged by industries are more complex
than designing the treatment process. Bacopa Monnieri is one of the wetland plant used for the
removal of heavy metal, lead (Pb) from the aquatic medium. Effluent was collected from the Lead
acid battery waste treatment plant. It is standardized to 5, 10 and 15ppm to observe the uptake by
plant. Effluent was categorized as Direct Effluent (DE), DE+Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)
and DE+Cow Dung Manure (CDM), where EDTA and CDM were used as a chelating agent to
influence in accumulation rate and degradation rate. Concentration of Pb in soil, plant (root and
shoots), and effluent had been done to calculate the degradation of Pb, Translocation factor (TF) and
Bioconcentration factor (BCF). This experiment shows tremendous differences in wetland plant unlike

The Tuscan columns, for example, are fully covered in polished stainless steel and their moldings and
curves have been abstracted to a minimum of flat, conic and cylindrical shapes, striping away the
entasis (5). The Tuscan architrave carries square panels of water jets which Moore s memoirs refer to
as wetopes (6). The horizontal molding bounding the echinus of several stainless steel capitals were
made of rings of neon lights. The Doric colonnade has no physical shafts, only cylindrical streams of
pellucid water. Whilte it has the rounded echinus and and abacus, the shaft is only suggested by the
water. Some of the composite columns have angular, stylized stainless steel capitals. These had no
echinus moldings, simple scrolls for volutes ancanthus leaves merely suggested by triangles and were
sprayed by more small jets of water. In their flutes, florid carved fillets were replaced with geysers.
These composite columns had the appropriate half circle flutes on the shaft, and fairly complete
moldings at that top and bottom of the shaft. The Ionic columns possessed the simpler and more fluid
Greek volutes and had the base and echinus convex molding. The alternately concave and convex
moldings at the foot of the Ionic columns were in style of Roman examples. In fact, streams of water

Toltecs Vs Cahokia
When considering the degrees of integration in various regions of the Americas, specifically
referencing the Chimu Empire, Toltecs, and Cahokia, the text makes the following statement: Two
forces contributed to greater integration in sub Saharan Africa and the Americas, from 1000 to 1300:
commercial exchange...and urbanization... From this, we can conclude that there was a great amount
of integration taking place among the Chimu Empire, Toltecs, and Cahokia. W also see that the two
main things that caused more extreme integration in the Americas were trading and urbanization
which are both powerful concepts when referring to how cultures develop and change over time.

Analysis Of Surah Al Kahf
Analysis of Surah Al Kahf
Introduction
The eighteenth surah (chapter) The Cave , is among the earliest of revelations revealed to the Prophet
Muhammad ‫ﷺ‬ . Regarding this surah the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬ is reported as saying whoever recites surah al
Kahf on Jumu ah (Friday) will have illumination from the light from one Jumu ah to the next this
assertion may be due to another narration in which he ‫ﷺ‬ said whoever recites three ayat (verses) from
the beginning of al Kahf he is protected from the fitnah (great trials and tribulations) of ad Dajjal (the
antichrist) .
The coming of ad Dajjal in Islam (although specifically not by name mentioned in the Qur an there are
narrations in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as the people of the cave were tested with their religious conviction amid endemic persecution, so
too will the conviction of people be tested at the time of ad Dajjal s coming. Dr Yassir Qadhi cites the
hadith of the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬as drawing a parallel to the people of the cave in that the fitnah of religion is
something to take great precaution against, or even flee from .
The exchange between the affluent and poor man (verses 32 44)
The following story is that of a dialogue between two men; one to whom had been given a bountiful
garden, high societal status and thamar . Although the verses prior credit his financial security to Allah
verses 34 36 depict the man self ascribing his fortune and denouncing as saa ah of which ultimately
lead to the destruction of all his produce .
Hadith states the Dajjal will come at a time of rampant poverty and famine with a mountain of bread
and a river of water and will lay claim to having control over cultivation however, the lesson to be
drawn from the hadith and within these verses, through the man of lower status is that there is no
power except in Allah , the true creator and so wealth, or lack thereof, can also be a fitnah one should
seek protection from.
Musa (Moses) and the nameless, knowledgeable servant of Allah (verses 60 82)
The surah also conveys the story of Musa following a servant to whom had been taught a certain
knowledge from

The audit is conducted in accordance with auditing standards and guidelines as issued by the auditing
practices board. Materiality
Materiality is an expression of the relative significance or importance of a particular matter in the
context of the financial statements as whole.
A matter is material if its omission would reasonably influence the decisions of an addressee if the
auditors report; likewise a misstatement is material if it would have a similar influence.
The auditors will normally attempt to set materiality levels at the planning stage of the audit.
The main reason auditors consider materiality at the planning stage is to help them to put audit risk
into context. Risk
Before preparing the audit plan, the auditors should appraise the risk of material errors and regularises
having taken place. (Financial difficulties of the client; known problems with internal controls)
(b)
Risks:
1. Old accounting system. Relies on manual input to transfer orders.
Impact
There is a lack of assurance that the input was properly stated. The amount might be reduced or
increased in benefits of the person who makes an order transfer.
Reason for choosing
The risk above was chosen because it one of the important risks which the mangers and the owners of
the company should try not to meet with.
2. Errors have been known to occur.

The city is located right where temperate and tropical climates collide. The weather never dips below
50 degrees and, according to a NASA study, is much less likely to experience a hurricane compared to
the rest of the state. Because of the Indian River to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east,
however, Satellite Beach can get quite humid year round.
Along with more than 10,000 people, a variety of endangered animals make their home in Satellite
beach, consisting mainly of various turtles, tortoises, fish, whales and birds. Average home prices and
rent are a bit steep at roughly $340,000 and $1,200 respectively, but Satellite Beach s crime rate is
several times lower than the national average according to City Data estimates, so the cost may be
worth it.
Satellite Beach is a philanthropic community at its core. In fact, the city keeps a list of contributors to
its Neighbor Helping Neighbor program that assists senior citizens with mobility impairments. The
city is home to multiple parks, a library, tennis courts and a skate and BMX park, as well as Samsons

  • 2. Hunger Satire Everyone feels it at one point or another. Hunger will sink its claws into anyone it comes in contact with. Hunger, to most people, is their stomachs making slow rumbling noises; sometimes a deep ache in the pit of the stomach; not knowing what it is they crave but know they want something. They say hunger is simply the body needing food. While this is correct, it s the ignorant man s answer. I was one of those ignorant people, until I experienced what it feels like to need something so bad I can t think of anything else. Hunger is not limited to someone merely wanting a midnight snack. It s the pain experienced when the stomach has nothing inside but still tries to digest; the pain someone who knows they need to eat but cannot fathom putting one bite of food into their mouth feels. Hunger is the feeling starving people feel, as if their innards are being twisted so tight they might pop; the look in their eyes when they see a restaurant worker bring out the trash and set it just out of their reach. Hunger is the feeling of love; when a person wants another so much they feel as though they might burst; the need of the one that is not there with them. The feeling in the center of a person who wants to do what they love, but have no time to do it. It s present when someone loses a loved one; the feeling of regret for not doing enough with them; the emptiness when they realize that person is gone forever. • 3. Johnny Got His Gun Analysis Leaving the Harbor Every individual comes to a point in their life in which they begin to swim away from the harbor their parents raised them in, and begin navigating their own life. Dalton Trumbo uniquely portrays the familiar concept of coming of age, within a passage from his novel Johnny Got His Gun, in which he depicts a son wanting to take a friend fishing instead of his father who has taken him annually during their camping trip. Trumbo gives insight into the internal turmoil that strikes when confronting ones parents about wanting to drift away from the anchor they ve been for them. He clearly articulates his point, illustrating the flow in thought from tense to reflective using precise selection of detail, applying a shift in point of view, and naturalistic imagery. Trumbo shifts the tone from tense to reflective through effectively selecting details which portray the impact of the encounter between the father and son. Opening the passage Trumbo asserts the significance of the tradition by carefully depicting the campsite, in a way which he conveys an atmosphere of nostalgia. Describing how his memories included the pine needles...falling on their tent, sitting staring into the fire, fishing, and hearing the streams which connected the lakes throughout the night. Reveling an appreciation of company is present in the boy s childhood which lays the foundation for his anxiety to inform his father of his wants, as the two were once connected like the streams and ... • 4. Orthodontic Brace Case Study Please accept this letter as Lola Gayton s appeal to Amerigroup s decision to deny coverage for Orthodontic braces. It is my understanding based on your letter of denial dated April 6, 2017 that this procedure has been denied based on a few reasons, the first being: Must be needed to protect life, prevent significant illness or disability, or alleviate severe pain . Lola is in constant pain due to her crowding of teeth; her gums are in pain to the point that she can only eat on the left side of her mouth and she started to apply a wet cloth on the right side of her mouth to help eliminate the throbbing pain that she was having. Her pain was affecting her at school and during her state FSA testing she did not perform to her full potential due to her mouth/teeth discomfort. When it comes to Lola s teeth pain affecting her daily functions of eating, and school work it is a major problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The palatal expander helps to widen the roof of the mouth and expand the airway, helping Lola breathe. However, Lola s mouth is too small for the expander and she needs to have two teeth removed prior to braces. Lola s small mouth and added crowding caused her to need a lower lingual bar that was applied at age seven, and was in place for three years. The approach builds on historical treatment methods like electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), which though exceptionally effective in the short term, often sees a return of depressive symptoms. Compounding the problem with ECT was the increased tolerance some patients showed, thus requiring higher and higher voltage dosages to achieve the same results, not unlike drug tolerance, and side effects like generalized mental confusion in the immediate aftermath of the therapy. Other composers in the Classical Period consist of Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van Beethoven. (Mello, 2017). Hayden, Mozart and Beethoven are perhaps the greatest composers of all time. When people think of them, they think of their great works, or incidental stories, but they all had a serious effect of the growth and development of the piano. This is often over looked and underappreciated. Mozart challenged inventors, composers, teachers, and people each day. While people had choice words to say about Mozart, he developed music in a way that not many people had. He broke rules, he did what felt right even if it was right , as did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With technology changing it is difficult to keep up with the progress. The piano today varies from the piano in the classical romantic period in ways such as: The modern Piano has 88 keys (52 white and 36 black), allowing the artist to emote with music. Each key corresponds to two or three strings. The base notes have long strings and the higher the notes go, the shorter the strings get. There are 100 parts to each key and 30 adjustments can be made to each key. (LifeIsMusic, 2015). Something else that has changed within the past few decades is that, since the Classical Period, almost every middle class to upper class family had a piano in their household and it was expected that every member of the family was to learn to play it. Because of the way technology has been moving, music has been primarily heard through phones or laptops and could be made through other sources of technology too. Unfortunately that means that the life of the piano has been at a standstill within chamber music. Thankfully, a lot of composers today have kept the piano in their works and it is just as important as it was during the Romantic and Classical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to these hardships, the Southern African Americans migrated North. This relocation led to the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920 s. The Harlem Renaissance was a rebirth in African American culture through art, music, dance, and poetry. The title of the painting gives a clue as to what is happening within the painting. The painting is an oil, canvas. The title The Concert suggests just as in the painting, a group of people is gathering for a concert. There are intense muted hues of yellow, blue, red, and green. The painting contains traditional linear perspective and the book placed on the table helps create the 3 D dimensional on the overall painting. The shapes of the figures are sharply defined and the objects such as the table, book, and string instruments. There are diagonal rhythms throughout the painting in which it creates movement. The light source in the upper left allows the source light to have a more natural appearance throughout the painting. The shadows at the right hand corner and the men wearing green in the middle contrast the main object with the most sources of lighting. The objects shadows and lighting create dimension and a vivid sense of more contrast. There are areas in the making with more contrast and the sharp contrast that creates movement in the painting. The Impact Of Prescription Drugs On The Health Sector A substantial piece of the U.S market in the health sector is run by the prescription drugs and, therefore, making the U.S the global largest market of pharmaceuticals accounting for more than a third of the world s expenditure on drugs. It is estimated that in 2014 slightly over $300 billion were spent on prescription drugs which accounts for roughly 10 cents of every dollar in the U.S healthcare market. The U.S expenditure on prescription drugs has been growing at an annual rate of 11% for the last 27 years between 1980 and 2007. But the expenditure has slowed between 2008 and 2013 to about 2% annual average which has been occasioned by several reasons including the 2008 financial quagmire which was also responsible for the reduction in the overall U.S health care costs, the application of controls towards insurer drug utilization and also the production of a less amount of new blockbuster drugs within that period (Institute for Healthcare Informatics, 2014).. The slow growth in the prescription market could also be attributed to the rising increased utilization of cheap generic drugs with patents for the best selling drugs also being outdated. According to the Centers for Medicare Medicaid services, the year 2014 witnessed a prescription drug spending increase of over 12 percent that was partly due to an increase in the use of specialty drugs. Some people say they don t experience dreaming at all, which is not possible. What they are really saying is that they don t remember their dreams, which is perfectly normal. What many do not realize is that in order to go into a dream state , it can take about thirty minutes. This is considered the rapid eye movement (REM) cycle. • 27. Dysfunctional Family Dynamics And The Integral Value Of... Examples of dysfunctional families can be seen everywhere in society on television, in movies, in music, and of course, in literature. Many books have recently been published that include complex, conflicted families. The purpose of using dysfunctional families in popular literature is to make the story more relatable, show different views on the traditional family dynamic, and to spark interest with readers. These three intentions are shown in both George RR. Martin s Game of Thrones and Alice Munro s Who Do You Think You Are?. Both works contain complex characters that illustrate abnormal family dynamics and the integral value of dysfunctional families in literature. This idea of dysfunction among families can be seen in the Lannister and Stark families in Game Of Thrones and Rose s immediate family and her husband in Who Do You Think You Are?. The Lannister family in George RR. Martin s Game Of Thrones are one of the most powerful and rich families in the series. They are a prosperous dynasty and live the lives of kings and queens. However, they are also one of the most dysfunctional families in all of literature. The lives of the Lannister family are filled with incest, betrayal, murder and destruction. The Stark family are yet another example of dysfunction in a family structure seen in Game Of Thrones. • 28. Gender Inequality In Boys And Girls By Alice Munro In Alice Munro s Boys and Girls inequality is a proven action throughout the story. Gender roles and stereotypes is what occur when the role or behavior is taught to a person as appropriate to their gender. Alice Munro shows us in the story that in a second someone can change based off of what someone else thinks they should be and do. For example in the short story it shows us that women should be in the kitchen and men should be outside working in the fields and providing for his family. When reading a poem entitled Gender Inequality by Ella Linero, it tells us that men and women are put into a system where gender inequality is being ruled in the world. That men and women had to act a certain way and that women should be feminine while on the other hand men should only be masculine. The time in which the short story Boys and Girls took place was a time when men and women were not equal. Mothers had traditional roles, which often left them working in the house while men also had their roles outside of the house. The male was the dominate figure while the woman had to be subservient. You didn t see women outside unless they had to go outside and does something for example, hang the clothes on wires and so on. Gender Inequality took a toll on women in the early 1950 s. In the short story Boys and Girls the main character is a young girl who struggles within herself and also has external struggles as her father tries to change who she is and force her into a gender role that he thinks is important. Munro does not give the girl a name and by doing this the protagonist is seen as someone who has no identity and no power. This little girl in the story helps her father in their fox breading farm which she enjoyed so much. Sadly that all changed for her as she got older and her help wasn t needed. The narrator had problems coming in to terms with the role she was to lead. She wanted to work outside with her father doing the work that she only knew to do and this work was so important to her. But sadly the narrators mother tried to her in to work inside the house which I would say to wing her off of what she enjoyed so much in the fox farm. • 31. Music And The Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal Music Heavy metal music is often criticized for being a negative influence due to the lyrical content and aesthetics of the genre. For those unfamiliar with heavy metal, it is easy to make this correlation because of the darker and often taboo subject matter present throughout the music. With a little more analysis, however, it can be discovered that these same aspects thought to be negative actually bring forth positive results among metal listeners. What is found in heavy metal music is actually a display of emotions and energy that often have a purging effect which helps listeners of metal cope with the constantly changing world around them. Heavy metal is used as a tool for expressing emotion in a nonviolent way, rather than through physical destruction sought by some other genres. Heavy metal is a lot like an experiment to the people who do not understand it or those who dislike it. They look at it as a disgrace, dissect it, run tests on it, and analyze the results in order to get ammunition to put it down. Researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia have found that when volunteers were exposed to extreme music genres including heavy metal, emo, hardcore, punk, and screamo, they actually experienced a range of positive feelings, such as calmness, happiness or being inspired. Analyte Interaction Between Gauguin And Van Gogh In Arles Jaehun Lee 11/8/17 Second Writing Assignment The explosive interaction between Gauguin and Van Gogh in Arles in 1888 can be said to condense and bring to head a conflict between two different ways of conceiving art and aesthetic experience that had been brewing throughout the 19th Century. How do you see the contrast between their approaches to painting? And how does this contrast bear out these different tendencies? While the painters after the Impressionism period were called the Post Impressionists, the label is quite reductive. Each artist had their own unique style, from Seurat s pointillism to Signac s mosaic like divisionism, Cezanne, Émile Bernard, and others. These artists were all connected in that they were reacting to the aesthetics of Impressionism. Two of the more influential painters from this movement were Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin, who aimed to connect with viewers on a deeper level by ignoring a Naturalistic approach that attempted to merely depict the real. However, the two had distinct styles which attempted to achieve the same goal: to access Nature s mystery and meaning beyond its superficial, observable level. In close examination of Vincent van Gogh s Self Portrait (Dedicated to Paul Gauguin) and Paul Gauguin s Self Portrait with Portrait of Émile Bernard (Les misérables), one may clearly see the two artists contrasting styles on display.
