Laziness, he indirectly confronts the slothful in an effort to make them see the error of their ways.
Morley deals with the topic of laziness in a overly sarcastic and satirical tone to stress the
absurdity of the trait. Early in his essay, Morley utilizes ironythat made it evident that his essay on
the supposed benefits of laziness is meant to be treated as a satire. He in no way is actually

SELF EXPLORATION
My major at Nicholls State University is Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science;
however, I plan to transfer to University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue a degree in Physics.
The process in which one would solve a problem has always appealed to me. In math, specifically
calculus, derivatives tell me how the original function acts and integrals tell me the relevance of the
original function to the x axis. Using a simple formula to find the answer to a seemingly impossible
problem that involves numbers that geniuses have discovered centuries ago is the most amazing
thing one could possibly do, in my opinion. Also, upon taking my computer science course, I have
learned how to write certain scripts. Writing these scripts has taught me of a connection between
the person and the computer; sort of like a collaboration.
Ten years from now, I can see myself finally being self sufficient; drinking tea in my own
apartment while watching TV and petting my kitty cat. Career wise, I want to work in an office
probably creating a new way to solve some sort of problem. I could see myself in the

In the practice of the Way, Dogen places a strong emphasis on zazen or sitting in meditation. One
who meditates properly realizes that the practice of meditation and Enlightenment are one in the
same. In A Primer of Soto Zen, Dogen states that zazen is the practice of the Buddha. Zazen is
the ultimate practice. This is indeed the True Self (Masunaga 44). In the practice of zazen one
empties the self and enters a mode of being that is in itself Enlightenment. The experience of
Enlightenment within zazen reveals that the entire world is filled with Buddha nature. This is

Every individual needs to change the way they view themselves and those around them. In the
