The Value Of A Shepa Life Summary
In The Value of a Sherpa Life by Grayson Schaffer the argumentative article commands a change for
the lives and well being of the ethnic group known as the Sherpas. The well recognized summit of
Everest demands a lot from a human being but most importantly, it demands Sherpas. Schaffer uses
current events not only including the involvement of Sherpas but the significant amounts of death the
Sherpa climbing industry endorse. Although Shaffer does not believe that the solution is to stop the
climbing industry but to improve the value of these Sherpa s lives. Sherpa s deaths are not only a
detrimental effect on the climbing industry but more importantly, the families of these Sherpa s.
Shaffer believes that the industry values life on a two tiered basis: ... Show more content on

The Westerners are the majority of the reason that Sherpas have to put their lives on the line and most
of the time the Sherpa s do not even want this job; most Sherpa s are apart of the climbing industry to
do simple things like: sending their children to school, putting food on the table, and supporting their
families. Schaffer constantly argues that Without the hard work of the Sherpa porters, it would be
largely impossible for Americans and Europeans with slightly above average physiology, and well
above average disposable income to scale the world s tallest mountains (217). Schaffer believes that
the quality of life one may encounter whether it is on or off the mountain should not be determined by
whether one s job is to climb a mountain or a choice. When the Sherpas do not return home their
family are often left in massive debt, a loss of a supportive income and a loved one which is a
nightmare for the families. The Kathmandu based insurance company will

Carrie Chapman Catt Research Paper
Peterson 1
Carrie Chapman Catt, one of the most influential women of the nineteen twenties, was born on
January 9, 1859. After living a meaningful life she died with integrity on March 9, 1947.
Carrie Clinton Lane was born in Ripon, Wisconsin to her parents Lucius and Maria. Carrie was the
second born of the three children that Lucius and Maria conceived. She graduated High School in
1877, after her family moved to Charles City, Iowa when she turned seven. After High School, Carrie
worked hard to get herself an education. She financed her way through college washing dishes,
working in the school library, and teaching. Finally, in 1880, she graduated as the only woman in her
class and the highest ranking from Iowa Agricultural College and ... Show more content on

The marriage with Mr. Catt allowed her to travel due to his support morally and financially; thus
leading to her national involvement with NAWSA (National American Woman Suffrage Association).
Becoming notorious for her writing and speeches, Catt spoke at the Washington D.C convention for
NAWSA, and later, as requested by Susan B. Anthony, Congress. These were major accomplishments
that led to Ms. Anthony s decision to choose Ms. Catt as her successor of NAWSA. From there on
Catt spent the majority of her time organizing women at campaigns, and educating them with her
speeches. With her newfound political experience Catt longed to broaden her horizons to an
international level. Accordingly, she organized the International Woman Suffrage Alliance (IWSA).
This new role led her to step down from her position as the president of NAWSA to work with the
thirty two nations involved with IWSA.
Her resignation in 1904 was consequently founded by her sickened husband. She spent a year caring
for him before his death in 1905. From there to 1907 Catt was anguished with the numerous deaths
that followed, Her close friend Susan B. Anthony passed away in 1906, followed by her younger
brother, William in 1907, and finally her mother. Notwithstanding, Catt

Wrong With Cinderella
Both in the traditional setup and in the contemporary advanced world, it would be normal for parents
to worry about the environment in which their children grow. Parents would want to know and
influence the kind of friends their children keep because to their belief, the company a child keeps
would influence her general behavior as they grow into adulthood. This particular concern of parents
about their children is usually massively informed by the gender of their children. For girls, parents
would want them to grow into women who would be capable of keeping up with the many challenges
and gender stereotypes that face them in the society. For instance, parents would not want their girl
child to grow with the notion that they would only be successful by marrying men who are well off. In
this respect, this paper analyzes the article What s wrong with Cinderella? authored by Peggy
Orenstein and whose major argument is that a girl child should not grow up with her mind
preoccupied with the flashy life led by princesses. Peggy Orenstein s argument about the growth of the
girl child is about the now prevalent craze of the princess that is now being embraced by many girls.
According to this author, the personality of girls later in their life would be massively affected by this
trend. In Orenstein s view, princesses and the kind of life they lead are now being commercialized by
entertainment companies such as Disney. The results of such commercialization have seen

Shortly after Butler was born, her father died leaving Butler s mother and grandmother to raise her.
Octavia s mother used to read her bedtime stories until she was six years old. As soon as she got to
like the stories, her mother said, Here s the book. Now you read. She didn t know what she was setting
her both up for. Just at the age of ten Octavia began to write short stories of fiction.
Octavia lived most of her life in Pasadena. All through Junior High and High School, even college,
Butler was a very shy person. She would not get up in front of class to do anything, her teacher s
thought this was because she didn t do the work and was unprepared. One time, she even went as far
as to record her presentation on a tape and turn that in instead. During her years in school, there were
three teachers who made a critical difference in Butler s development. The first was Butler s home
economics teacher in seventh grade, Miss Peters. Peters took the time to read

Butler s stories and offer encouragement. The second teacher was Mr. Pfaff, an eighth grade science
teacher who typed her first story, quot;typed it the way it was supposed to be, with no holes erased

The Importance Of Design In Nature
Every particle in nature represents the complex, and intricate structure of the universe. The human
body alone undergoes many different processes per second, and yet, is able to do so almost without
error. It s almost undeniable that there is design in nature, however, many question whether or not this
design just came about or if it implies that a designer exists. Science and religion attempt to explain
design in nature in a much different context, and seem to be in conflict with one another about the
existence of a designer. Arguably, I believe that there is a loophole, in which both science and religion
can be integrated as one, and can function together to explain design in nature. Beginning with the Big
Bang, and Creationism to Evolution, and design in nature, religion provides science with answers and
vice versa. God is not the sole worker in nature, nor is he the supreme power, but he allows for natural
processes to take their course. Academics from a vast range of fields can all agree that there is design
in nature, meaning that nature doesn t consist of random things thrown together without a purpose.
Instead, almost everything in nature is intricately designed to achieve certain tasks. Design in nature
can be compared to a jigsaw puzzle in the sense that each piece is designed to fit another piece, and
they match up perfectly. For example, when our DNA goes through the replication process, an error is
made at approximately every one hundred thousand nucleotide.

Competitors are also well positioned in international markets in order to diversify economic stresses
of their business environments. Potential Entry of New Competitors In order to enter into the
confectionary market and compete with Hershey is impossible. Not only because they are number one
of the largest in their industry but because they are well established. Hershey has been doing business
for over a century. There is no way for a new entrant to achieve that level of brand awareness and
customer brand loyalty. It would also be impossible for an entrant to compete as an economy of scale
because of the large amount of start up capital it would require to compete. There is also the issue of
technological Know How. As stated earlier Hershey has been doing this sort of business for over a
century and is very efficient at what they do. Potential Development of Substitute Products Hershey
faces many issues when it comes to substitute products. In the confectionary industry there is a large
number of substitute products. If any of Hershey s competitors are delivering more value to consumers
through price, quality, or quantity they will lose customers. The only thing that separates Hershey
from everyone else is their brand recognition. Maintaining their image, product quality, and
competitive pricing is key to avoid losing customers. Bargaining Power of Consumer Consumers have
extremely high bargaining power when it comes to Hershey products. As

When manchester went to eat the bubble gum sized bite of pretzel he died instantly and people
suspected it involved his brother. The news just reported as if he choked but many people think
otherwise. There are many reasons throughout this story that may lead you to believe he poisoned his

Everyone, that is, except his younger brother, Skidmore. Everyone already knew that he didnt like his

Animal Testing Is A Waste Of Time
Imagine that you woke up one morning and discovered that your favorite pet was gone, and later
found out that it was kidnapped, sold into experimentation, and later discovered that your pet had died
from animal testing. How would you feel? Because according to Daniel Engber in his article Where s
Pepper? this happened to a farmer back in 1965 where his dog Pepper got kidnaped and later died of
experimentation. As far back as ancient Greek writing we have been testing on animals and there have
been strong feelings from both sides. Those who are for animal testing say animal testing has made
some great medicines like vaccines for hepatitis B and C. And those who are against animal testing
say that it is cruel and inhumane, that there are other methods, and animals are so different that it s a
waste of time and money. It is clear that overall that animal testing is bad because it is a waste of time
because animals are very different from human beings, a waste of money because of 21st century tech,
and an unnecessary waste of animal life because experiments on animals is cruel and causes animals

Impact of manufacturing 4.0 Manufacturing 4.0 is expected to accelerate in the next decade

With the gradual advent of manufacturing 4.0 however, challenges will continue to increase for
emerging economies. Over the last few decades, these countries have exploited their cheap labor and
natural resources to get global companies to manufacture on their land. However, with intelligent and
smart machines, the industry will require fewer, but more qualified workers to operate on
manufacturing lines. Lack of skilled workers in these countries will ultimately drive jobs back to the
developed nations like the US, UK and Germany. Businesses and institutions will need to analyze
where they could compete in a situation where previous advantages are gradually going away. Another
concern is jobs. Advanced manufacturing will require a highly skilled worker to deal with robots,
which in the years to come, will be able to make their own decisions. The workers will need to be
highly proficient at soft skills, critical thinking and even technical skills. In order to cope up with these
requirements, a complete revamp of the educational syllabus will be required. Challenges associated
with manufacturing 4.0 1. Data Integration The focus on waste reduction and simultaneous birth of

Overfishing Essay
Sage Teachout
Mrs. Hildebrand
English 101
October 16, 2017
Fishing for Answers
Overfishing to deplete the stock of fish in a body of water by too much fishing. Overfishing can be
defined in many way, all of them leading to the same conclusion: Catching too many fish is bad for
the environment. Overfishing is an unsustainable use of the oceans. Overfishing occurs because fish
are captured at a faster rate than they can reproduce. Also advances in fishing technology and an
increased demand for fish has led to overfishing, causing several marine species to become extinct.
Despite counter arguments, overfishing is harmful and needs to be stopped because we are depleting
our fishing industry, impacting the food web, and creating economical dangers. Without creating
stricter regulations, the fishing industry will continue to diminish. Due to advances in technology,
fishermen can access places that have never been fished. At first, it was the creation of the simple
trawler boat which had a minimal impact on our environment. It was the creation of the factory fishing
vessels that have taken over and led to mass amounts of overfishing. These boats use down scan sonar,
side imaging, and GPS giving them an unfair advantage over the fish they are after. Using nets that are
50 meters wide and able to hold a weight greater than two medium sized planes, the boats trawl depths
of up to 170 km deep. On board, the ships are processing plants. These plants process, package, and

The World s Population Will Face A Severe Shortage Of Water
Case Summary According to research conducted by the United Nations, approximately two thirds of
the world s population will face a severe shortage of water by 2025(Shaw Barry, 2014, pg. 131). Some
countries have begun to prepare early by importing tankers of water from other countries. The State of
Michigan; however, is not as concerned about the shortage due to having over 11,000 lakes including
the Great Lakes. Due to the vast amount of water sources, Nestle has built a bottled water plant in
Mecosta County, Michigan. The new plant has cost Nestle over 100 million dollars and has caused
much controversy with locals. Nestle had built a 12 mile pipeline from the plant to a local spring.
Many organizations in Michigan saw this as a huge threat to water conservation and later had resorted
to suing Nestle. Lawyers from organizations such as, Michigan s Citizens for Water Conservation and
Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians had claimed that due to reasonable use and a treaty from
1836, the land was protected from misuse of transportation of water. Michigan state judge, Lawrence
Root, had bought the argument and had upheld the lawsuit. Ruling that the environment is at risk no
matter how much water Nestle draws out, he ordered the pumps turned off (Barry, 2014, pg. 132).
Around two years later the case had been appealed and sent back to the appellate court to be revised.
The court had entered Nestle into an agreement that they would not pump more than 250 gallons

Tone Of Howl By Allen Ginsberg
Allen Ginsberg in his work, Howl tries to present a social commentary and a revolution. Allen
presents the struggle of the time when social pressures were quickly building up, and a revolution was
necessary which would free people from all forms of oppression. Allen presents his experiences which
is an encounter with his friend whom he met in a mental institution. Allen uses several literary
techniques to present the insanities in life and how people continue to struggle with it in life which
ends up in tragedies and cries. Throughout the poem, Allen uses an elegiac tone which is a tone of
mourning. From the very first line, the reader is prepared for what will follow in the subsequent lines
and stanzas. In the first line, Allen says he is outraged, and that is why is crying out to the world to
stop the destruction of a generation. In general, Allen is crying about the oppression and subjugation
in the society. The speaker in the poem appears to be smart. The speaker s words do not come out in a
proper order which makes the reader imagine that he was from a long sleep and he has been awakened
by the reality of things and he wants us to join him through his lane and tell us what he saw. The
speaker does not use proper English, and there is a lot of syntax in the verses which help the reader in
understanding that the person speaking is drugged or has some mental illness. For Allen, he embodies
the mental illness of his friend he is dedicating the poem too in a mental

Student Loans Cons
Student Loans
With the average student loan debt being almost $30,000 for people fresh out of college as of 2013, it

The Art Of Budgeting During The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a time of hardship and sacrifice for many families across Canada. With
many unemployed married men out roaming across Canada, looking for any means of income, it was
up to housewives to make ends meet with what little they had. Were Canadian housewives the reason
why many families survived the 1930s? To answer this question I will look at how Canadian
housewives managed the family finances, influenced change in their communities and made sacrifices
to make sure their families could make it to the next month. In my essay I will first look at how many
Canadian women mastered the art of careful budgeting during the great depression. Much like the
character Rose Anna, from Gabrielle Roy s novel The Tin Flute, mothers all

Who Is Hulu s Target Market
Companies always reshape their product to grow or to obtain their goal. Now multiple companies are
buying one another to get a better reach of their target market. The first article from Advertising Age
states that Hulu will stop offering TV shows for free. That is quite daunting for the users you range
from all ages especially millennials who are the main users. The streaming service is discarding its
free platform that provided streaming viewers with a library of hundreds of movies, TV shows, and
clips since 2007. Hulu s decision to terminate free streaming is a major step as it tries to gain more
traction against other streaming video sites, such as Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon. Hulu becomes a

It is drastic because when Hulu was announced back in 2005 the cable companies weren t too happy
about another platform getting all the views. Now they are on board with cable cutting. And that new,
live TV service just got a ton more channels: CNN, TBS, Cartoon Network, TNT, and more. Not a bad
haul! Alongside that buy in is the guarantee of Time Warner s many TV channels and the content they
produce to Hulu s live TV offering. Time Warner is far from the first major TV content creator to hook
up with Hulu s live TV service. NBCUniversal, Disney, and Fox are all in talks with Hulu to offer
channels on the new service. There are still lots of questions about the new service, like when exactly
it will launch and how much it ll cost. Rumors put the service at between $30 and $40/month, with an
expected launch in early 2017. The two articles are related because they depict Hulu s future and their

Narrative Of Slavery By Frederick Douglass
Kim Durr Professor S. Burns English 241 April 27, 2015 Slaves Owners Perpetuation of Slavery
Frederick Douglass s Narrative paints a very real and powerful picture of slave life. During the time
that his Narrative was written, some believed that black people were unable to contribute to society
and should simply be used as workers for white people. He shows how white slave owners maintained
power and control over their slaves by their brutal and inhumane treatment of them and by keeping
them ignorant and uneducated. Slave owners routinely kept very basic information from their slaves.
Douglass writes, I have no accurate knowledge of my age, never having seen any authentic record
containing it (Belasco 1016). Also, I do not remember to have ever met a slave who could tell of his
birthday (Belasco 1016). This is, of course, something that white children knew and most even
celebrated but for a slave to ask about was considered, improper and impertinent, and evidence of a
restless spirit (Belasco 1016). In addition to not knowing their age and date of birth, slave children

When Captain Anthony discovered that Aunt Hester had disobeyed him, Anthony stripped Hester, tied

Social Problem Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s
problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more
patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we have
done very little to dissolve it. Violence against women is everywhere, at home, at the workplace, and
even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not discriminate, it touches every
race and at every age. Many violence against women are left without punishment. No matter how
small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed. Violence against women is very much
workplace as any other place. Violence against women is mostly seen when the person initiating
violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to many acts of violence left unpunished or
resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly male who are the boss or the manager,
females do not speak up and report it. Females will most likely not report it because they will not like
to lose their job, they would believe no one will believe them, and it would cost to much drama and
talk in the workplace. Just a slap or a push is left unreported because females believes they are minor
things compared to other things. Plus, females in the workplace still have to deal with sexual
harassment. So, most little things are left unreported because, even though, we believe we live in a

Iran Contra Crack Cocaine
Did you know in December 1985 news broke of cocaine (crack) being trafficked by the Contras into

The World Of The House By Oscar Wilde
Wordplay is used extensively in all of Oscar Wilde s plays, and perhaps never more so than in The
Importance of Being Earnest, where every scene is peppered with double entendres, puns and
aphorisms. The world of the play is a high parody of Victorian society at the time it both follows the
rules and doesn t; norms are undermined through wordplay, and language is endlessly adaptable
through puns and paradoxes. Sos Eltis notes of the characters in this play that nothing stands in the
way of their self creation, for reality itself is infinitely adaptable. Eltis argues that the characters in this
play are able, through language, to create their own realities as well as adapting to one another s.

His name was Ernest all along, after all, so to his own surprise as much as anyone else s, it turns out
that Jack was being honest throughout the play (about his name, that is all other Bunburying aside).
Wilde makes use of puns for a variety of reasons in this play. Some of his punning reveals something
about the character speaking, for instance when Algernon speaks of his musical prowess at the
beginning of the play: As far as the piano is concerned, sentiment is my forte. This is a play on the
word forte , which means both my strength as well as being a musical term related to piano playing.
The pun ties into Eltis s idea of the language of the play adapting reality sentiment is indeed Algernon
s forte, as we see again and again throughout the play (more on this later). Algernon s talent for
sentiment outweighs any obligation he may feel for honesty. For Algernon, life is not about rules, and
because of his adaptability he never has to take anything seriously. Another type of pun used by Wilde
in the play is the double entendre, in this quote from Lady Bracknell a play on the word terminus : Mr.
Worthing, is Miss Cardew at all connected ... with any of the larger railway stations in London? I

Literary Analysis Of The Poisonwood Bible
Michela Murray Miss Keister AP English Literature 22 August 2014 The Poisonwood Bible by
Barbara Kingsolver, literary analysis In The Poisonwood Bible, symbolism is widely explored to
allude to and explore ideas in a nonliteral sense, Methuselah, a parrot left behind and adopted by the
Price family, is an example of this. Throughout the novel, his role as a symbol of the Congo is
examined. Methuselah, kept in a cage and tended to by its new masters, knows little about the world
of freedom. He has very little experience in fending for himself, and when Nathan releases him as a
consequence for his foul language, he is oblivious to the behavior a wild parrot should exhibit. He
remains near the house even after being released, still dependant on the Price family for food and
shelter. This shows that through years of being cared for, the parrot lost its instincts to fend for itself
leaving it open to attack and abuse, in comparison to the Congo, who under Belgian control lost the
political and economic stability to stand on its own without Belgium to take control over it. ... Show

Analysis Of The Movie The Return Of Martin Guerre
The role of Bertrande de Rols in the film The Return of Martin Guerre is a firm representation of the
way in which women of this time subscribed to clear gender norms. She was a dutiful wife who stayed
behind while her husband went off to war and to travel the world. She was willing to submit to him (or
Arnaud, the man who ended up being an imposter of Martin) and settle down to have children upon
his return. And when it came time to stand up him, she played her role in that process too (even
though it wasn t her husband for whom she was initially testifying). She doesn t have the leeway in
which to create her own path in life, and seems to constantly bend to the whim of others. Bertrande is
the quintessential example of how women throughout history kept the home fires burning while their
men explored the world, and then were forced to take back whatever iterations of their mates they got
back (which in this case, wasn t even the same man).
To say that Bertrande was likely initially underwhelmed with Martin s return would be putting it
mildly. Historians that have studied this period in French history for women surmise that Bertrande
likely enjoyed the freedom of making her own decisions (Lewis 65). In fact, in her book The Wife of
Martin Guerre, author Janet Lewis envisages an existence for Bertrande that speaks to just how much
she likely enjoyed the freedom of being her own person when Martin first went away. At the same
time, she was clearly vilified for it. Of this,

The Human Genome Project Essay examples
The Human Genome Project (HGP), an international scientific research project, has educated the
public tremendously on various topics concerning DNA and genetics. This study has been beneficial
to communities alike. As stated, the HGP sought to identify all the genes in human DNA, determine
the sequences of the three billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA, store this
information in databases, improve tools for data analysis, transfer related technologies to the private
sector, and address the ethical, legal, and social issues that may arise from the project. In favor of
achieving these goals, scientists studied the genetic makeup of several nonhuman organisms (Human

Due to scientist s interest in human genetic variation, human racial classification became a focus of
scientific investigation by evolutionary biologists attempting to categorize individual humans based on
presumed patterns of biological difference. Scientists had hoped to classify humans in the same way
that they classified other species. These scientists attached hierarchical titles to these categorizations;
they claimed that differences in skin color, physiognomy, and geography were associated with
scientifically measurable differences in character, aptitude, and temperament (Smedley, 1998).
However, studies supporting these claims have been unsound (Gould, 1981). Categorization of
humans by racial and ethnic groups continues, as researchers must remain aware of this historical
legacy of the science of heredity as the genomic era continues to develop (Bonham et al., 2005).
Although the HGP has been informative to the public, especially when it comes to racial variations in
disorders and genetic reflected illnesses, there are ways it may be used to harm rather than help human
development. Due to the information obtained through the research, the stigma related to illnesses or
disorders may be closely associated with certain ethnic or racial backgrounds. This can have negative
effects on ethnic groups, in that some people may already believe they are pre exposed to an illness.

Note that Mill speaks of the quot;free quot; development of women. In the history of philosophy a
social doctrine has usually been attached to those ontological and epistemological theses, the doctrine
that persons are free (or have freedom) to the extent that they are not constrained, either in their

principle limiting one sort of social influence. Mill elaborates and defends the political doctrine in On
Liberty and employs it in The Subjection of Women, which also contains the epistemology. Another
statement of the corollary from the latter work more clearly connects the discovery of the natural with
freedom: quot;no one can safely pronounce that if women s nature were left to choose its direction as

Scoliosis Research Paper
Introduction
Everyone s spine has natural curve which round our shoulders and make our lower back curve slightly
inward (Common Scoliosis Questions). Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine (Taylor, 2011,
p394). Scoliosis can also be defined as a lateral (towards the inside) curvature of the spine with
increased convexity (the quality or state of being curved outward) on the side that is curve (Taylor,
2011, p601). There are several less common types of scoliosis, but the four major different types of
scoliosis are congenital scoliosis, early onset scoliosis, idiopathic scoliosis, and neuromuscular
scoliosis. The spinal curves cannot be corrected simply by learning to stand up straight like poor
posture.

system disorders (cerebral palsy), muscle diseases (muscular dystrophy), or genetic diseases (Down

Who Is Brutus Use Of Flattery In Julius Caesar
The final years of the Roman Republic were a time plagued with political deception and secret

And Decius, using his knowledge of Caesar s vulnerability to flattery, turned him against his wife and

Discrimination Model of Supervision
Discrimination Model of Supervision

Ethics in Counselor Education and Supervision
June 25, 2011
School counseling is a complex and demanding component of the counseling profession. With an
increase of social and emotional stressors, children and youth of today face numerous challenges.
These challenges ultimately affect children in school. With an increase of suicides, drug abuse, gang

These four domains are identified by the American School Counselor Association as the key

or a combination of domains will be the focus of supervision. When examining the three major areas

Poe s writings are not without morals, and as a representation of a guilty conscience, The Tell Tale
Heart has been called one of the most effective parables ever conceived (Ward 310). I find it almost
impossible to believe that Poe has no serious or artistic motive in The Tell Tale Heart, that he merely
revels in horror and only inadvertently illuminates the depths of the human soul, James Gargano
asserts. He further states that though Poe s stories sometimes seem to be nothing more than ramblings
of crazed narrators, the structure, development, arrangement, and irony of the narrator s confessions
allow Poe to offer ideas which the narrators themselves never actually possessed ( The Question 328).

According to the second erroneous theory, another influence to the narrator s madness is the similarity
between himself and his victim. The gaze of the evil eye is duplicated in the dim ray of light from the
lantern, and the narrator and victim both remain completely still in the dark, not moving a muscle,
listening. Other sensory details connect the two until they seem to be the same person, and since the
narrator wishes to destroy himself, he murders the old man (Robinson 258 59). These assertions that
time and unity with the old man are the two pivotal motifs driving the narrator to murder are mistaken.
Time plays a different role in relation to the dastardly plot, and the murder has nothing to do with the
old man himself, only his eye. The extension of time in the story is only a result of the narrator s
caution in his preparations for the murder. The prolonging of time does not cause the narrator grief and
certainly does not drive him to homicide. In fact, his slow movements were intentional. I moved it
slowly very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old man s sleep (46). The narrator says these
words, referring to thrusting his head through the doorway to look into the old man s bedroom. Next
he says, And then, when my head was well in the room, I undid the lantern cautiously, oh, so

Leukemia, People magazine reported.
Squire s death was first confirmed after the band posted on their official Facebook page that Squire
has peacefully passed away at his home in Phoenix on Saturday, June 27.
Earlier in May, Squire broke out the news to the public that he had been suffering from acute erythroid
leukemia, a very rare form of myeloid leukemia. He also went through frequent treatments before he
passed away.
Though no further details about his death were provided, the remains of the band announced the sad
news with unbearable sadness, It s with the heaviest of hearts and unbearable sadness that we must

For the entirety of Yes existence, Chris was the band s linchpin and, in so many ways, the glue that
held it together over all these years, they wrote on the band s statement. Because of his phenomenal
bass playing prowess, Chris influenced countless bassists around the world, including many of today s
well known artists.
The talented bass guitarist was also one of the leaders of the progressive rock back in the 1970s. He
was also a choir member during his youth, which built a strong foundation of his skills as a musician.
Squire had launched his 1975 solo album Fish Out Of Water and had also played in the short lived
group XYZ (eX Yes Zeppelin).
The Grammy award winning band has had hits, which scored no. 1 on the Billboard pop charts in the
1980s, including the Owner of a Lonely Heart and the Roundabout .
Yes will be having its U.S tour with Toto this coming August and Billy Sherwood will temporarily fill
in for Chris Squire.
Squire is survived by his wife Scotland and his five children Carmen, Camille, Cameron, Chandrika

Compare and Contrast Two Supply Chains, Drawing on...
To start, it is vital to clarify the concept of a supply chain. It consists basically of all the process that
the materials suffer as they flow from the source to the final customer. There are many concepts linked
to this term, purchasing, warehousing, manufacturing, etc. Or more precisely: a supply chain is a
system of business enterprises that link together to satisfy consumer demand. The elements of a
supply chain can be contained in the same business or be part of different companies (Riddalls et Al.,
2000) For this essay I have chosen two very different companies; Zara, a Spanish fashion collection
manufacturing company, and Dell, American multinational information technologic corporation. Some
years ago, in the fashion industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What they do is listen to consumer preferences and what it is more popular and produce what they
want. That is why they always have fresh and trendy designs. In terms of production, they have and
control the main factory in La Coruña (north of Spain) to be able to supply as fast as possible all the
stores. The fact of having the factory in Europe and not in other countries such as China is high, but it
is something that is covered by lower transportation costs as well as the capacity to supply demand
almost immediately, which its translated in big amount of sells. It is a very flexible demand based
production. Another positive point of Zara, due to high frequency of changing clothes is the low risk
that this report. As they change constantly the outfit, if there is a product that is working good it can be
immediately replace within a maximum of one week, while in other companies, where the stock is
bigger, it will need to be stored in the shops for longer time. This will carry on low inventory costs.
Zara, has an agile production that focus it success in the quick response to demand even though it is
no, a priori, predictable. Dell s supply chain, on the other hand it is completely different that Zara s
one. The components of Dell s supply chain are the customers, Dell s website (which is the only
official place where you can buy a Dell computer), Dell s assembly plant and Dell s suppliers. The
way Dell computers production works is completely different from

Analysis Of The Article Objectification Of Women s Media

Women= Objects in Ads
What does a naked woman have to do in a men s cologne advertisement? Well the adver tisement
companies think that sex sells. When women is objectified, they are being degraded of their character
as a human. These days young women especially, they are being objectified to sell goods and services
using their looks and not their knowledge. In the article Objectification of Women in Entertainment
Media by Jon Barber, explains how the objectification of women in society is a trend that is
developing in the entertainment of media today. Barber points out it is specifically in movies, music
videos, music, television, and in the advertisement industries there is strong focus on women as sexual
objects rather than women. What Barber is saying it is true; an example of this is one of the Tom Ford
Ad (see image below). What is a men s fragrance cologne doing in between a woman s breasts?
Barber goes on to say that the media is creating social stereotypes for both men and women that can
result in un healthy social and physical habits which is catastrophic to society. (Barber par 1) This is
unfor tunate; there is no escape from these Ads, because the average of advertisements being watched
by a woman is about 400 to 600 per day. (Qtd. In Effects on Women)
Why is advertisement that amplifies objectification of women bad? A report by the American
Psychological Association says

Religion of Islam
The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word Islam itself
means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was
named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and
Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and
Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of Allah and as such, its name represents the
central principle of Allah s God s religion; the total submission to the will of Allah God . The Arabic
word Islam means the submission or surrender of one s will to the only true god worthy of worship
Allah and anyone who does so is termed a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It consists in the submission to Allah as one God, yielding to Him by obeying His commandments,
and the denial of polytheism and polytheists.
THE MESSAGE OF FALSE RELIGION
There are so many sects, cults, religions, philosophies, and movements in the world, all of which
claim to be the right way or the only true path to Allah. How can one determine which one is correct
or if, in fact, all are correct? The method by which the answer can be found is to clear away the
superficial differences in the teachings of the various claimants to the ultimate truth, and identify the
central object of worship to which they call, directly or indirectly. False religions all have in common
one basic concept with regards to Allah. They either claim that all men are gods or that specific men
were Allah or that nature is Allah or that Allah is a figment of man s imagination.
Thus, it may be stated that the basic message of false religion is that Allah may be worshipped in the
form of His creation. False religion invites man to the worship of creation by calling the creation or
some aspect of it God. For example, prophet Jesus invited his followers to worship Allah but those
who claim to be his followers today call people to worship Jesus, claiming that he was Allah!
Buddha was a reformer who introduced a number of humanistic principles to the religion of India. He
did not claim to be God nor did he suggest to his followers that he

The Value Of A Shepa Life Summary In The Value of a Sherpa Life by Grayson Schaffer the argumentative article commands a change for the lives and well being of the ethnic group known as the Sherpas. The well recognized summit of Everest demands a lot from a human being but most importantly, it demands Sherpas. Schaffer uses current events not only including the involvement of Sherpas but the significant amounts of death the Sherpa climbing industry endorse. Although Shaffer does not believe that the solution is to stop the climbing industry but to improve the value of these Sherpa s lives. • 4. Wrong With Cinderella Both in the traditional setup and in the contemporary advanced world, it would be normal for parents to worry about the environment in which their children grow. Parents would want to know and influence the kind of friends their children keep because to their belief, the company a child keeps would influence her general behavior as they grow into adulthood. This particular concern of parents about their children is usually massively informed by the gender of their children. For girls, parents would want them to grow into women who would be capable of keeping up with the many challenges and gender stereotypes that face them in the society. For instance, parents would not want their girl child to grow with the notion that they would only be successful by marrying men who are well off. In this respect, this paper analyzes the article What s wrong with Cinderella? authored by Peggy Orenstein and whose major argument is that a girl child should not grow up with her mind preoccupied with the flashy life led by princesses. Peggy Orenstein s argument about the growth of the girl child is about the now prevalent craze of the princess that is now being embraced by many girls. According to this author, the personality of girls later in their life would be massively affected by this trend. In Orenstein s view, princesses and the kind of life they lead are now being commercialized by entertainment companies such as Disney. The results of such commercialization have seen ... • 8. The Importance Of Design In Nature Every particle in nature represents the complex, and intricate structure of the universe. The human body alone undergoes many different processes per second, and yet, is able to do so almost without error. It s almost undeniable that there is design in nature, however, many question whether or not this design just came about or if it implies that a designer exists. Science and religion attempt to explain design in nature in a much different context, and seem to be in conflict with one another about the existence of a designer. Arguably, I believe that there is a loophole, in which both science and religion can be integrated as one, and can function together to explain design in nature. Beginning with the Big Bang, and Creationism to Evolution, and design in nature, religion provides science with answers and vice versa. God is not the sole worker in nature, nor is he the supreme power, but he allows for natural processes to take their course. Academics from a vast range of fields can all agree that there is design in nature, meaning that nature doesn t consist of random things thrown together without a purpose. Instead, almost everything in nature is intricately designed to achieve certain tasks. Design in nature can be compared to a jigsaw puzzle in the sense that each piece is designed to fit another piece, and they match up perfectly. For example, when our DNA goes through the replication process, an error is made at approximately every one hundred thousand nucleotide. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Overfishing can be defined in many way, all of them leading to the same conclusion: Catching too many fish is bad for the environment. Overfishing is an unsustainable use of the oceans. Overfishing occurs because fish are captured at a faster rate than they can reproduce. Also advances in fishing technology and an increased demand for fish has led to overfishing, causing several marine species to become extinct. Despite counter arguments, overfishing is harmful and needs to be stopped because we are depleting our fishing industry, impacting the food web, and creating economical dangers. Without creating stricter regulations, the fishing industry will continue to diminish. Due to advances in technology, fishermen can access places that have never been fished. At first, it was the creation of the simple trawler boat which had a minimal impact on our environment. It was the creation of the factory fishing vessels that have taken over and led to mass amounts of overfishing. These boats use down scan sonar, side imaging, and GPS giving them an unfair advantage over the fish they are after. Due to the vast amount of water sources, Nestle has built a bottled water plant in Mecosta County, Michigan. Lawyers from organizations such as, Michigan s Citizens for Water Conservation and Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians had claimed that due to reasonable use and a treaty from 1836, the land was protected from misuse of transportation of water. Michigan state judge, Lawrence Root, had bought the argument and had upheld the lawsuit. Allen presents his experiences which is an encounter with his friend whom he met in a mental institution. Allen uses several literary techniques to present the insanities in life and how people continue to struggle with it in life which ends up in tragedies and cries. • 23. The Art Of Budgeting During The Great Depression The Great Depression was a time of hardship and sacrifice for many families across Canada. With many unemployed married men out roaming across Canada, looking for any means of income, it was up to housewives to make ends meet with what little they had. Were Canadian housewives the reason why many families survived the 1930s? To answer this question I will look at how Canadian housewives managed the family finances, influenced change in their communities and made sacrifices to make sure their families could make it to the next month. In my essay I will first look at how many Canadian women mastered the art of careful budgeting during the great depression. Burns English 241 April 27, 2015 Slaves Owners Perpetuation of Slavery Frederick Douglass s Narrative paints a very real and powerful picture of slave life. During the time that his Narrative was written, some believed that black people were unable to contribute to society and should simply be used as workers for white people. He shows how white slave owners maintained power and control over their slaves by their brutal and inhumane treatment of them and by keeping them ignorant and uneducated. Slave owners routinely kept very basic information from their slaves. Douglass writes, I have no accurate knowledge of my age, never having seen any authentic record containing it (Belasco 1016). Also, I do not remember to have ever met a slave who could tell of his birthday (Belasco 1016). This is, of course, something that white children knew and most even celebrated but for a slave to ask about was considered, improper and impertinent, and evidence of a restless spirit (Belasco 1016). Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we have done very little to dissolve it. Violence against women is everywhere, at home, at the workplace, and even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not discriminate, it touches every race and at every age. Many violence against women are left without punishment. No matter how small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed. Violence against women is very much workplace as any other place. Violence against women is mostly seen when the person initiating violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to many acts of violence left unpunished or resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly male who are the boss or the manager, females do not speak up and report it. Females will most likely not report it because they will not like to lose their job, they would believe no one will believe them, and it would cost to much drama and talk in the workplace. The World Of The House By Oscar Wilde Wordplay is used extensively in all of Oscar Wilde s plays, and perhaps never more so than in The Importance of Being Earnest, where every scene is peppered with double entendres, puns and aphorisms. The world of the play is a high parody of Victorian society at the time it both follows the rules and doesn t; norms are undermined through wordplay, and language is endlessly adaptable through puns and paradoxes. Sos Eltis notes of the characters in this play that nothing stands in the way of their self creation, for reality itself is infinitely adaptable. Some of his punning reveals something about the character speaking, for instance when Algernon speaks of his musical prowess at the beginning of the play: As far as the piano is concerned, sentiment is my forte. This is a play on the word forte , which means both my strength as well as being a musical term related to piano playing. The pun ties into Eltis s idea of the language of the play adapting reality sentiment is indeed Algernon s forte, as we see again and again throughout the play (more on this later). Throughout the novel, his role as a symbol of the Congo is examined. Methuselah, kept in a cage and tended to by its new masters, knows little about the world of freedom. He has very little experience in fending for himself, and when Nathan releases him as a consequence for his foul language, he is oblivious to the behavior a wild parrot should exhibit. He remains near the house even after being released, still dependant on the Price family for food and shelter. • 33. Analysis Of The Movie The Return Of Martin Guerre The role of Bertrande de Rols in the film The Return of Martin Guerre is a firm representation of the way in which women of this time subscribed to clear gender norms. She was a dutiful wife who stayed behind while her husband went off to war and to travel the world. She was willing to submit to him (or Arnaud, the man who ended up being an imposter of Martin) and settle down to have children upon his return. And when it came time to stand up him, she played her role in that process too (even though it wasn t her husband for whom she was initially testifying). She doesn t have the leeway in which to create her own path in life, and seems to constantly bend to the whim of others. Bertrande is the quintessential example of how women throughout history kept the home fires burning while their men explored the world, and then were forced to take back whatever iterations of their mates they got back (which in this case, wasn t even the same man). To say that Bertrande was likely initially underwhelmed with Martin s return would be putting it mildly. Historians that have studied this period in French history for women surmise that Bertrande likely enjoyed the freedom of making her own decisions (Lewis 65). In fact, in her book The Wife of Martin Guerre, author Janet Lewis envisages an existence for Bertrande that speaks to just how much she likely enjoyed the freedom of being her own person when Martin first went away. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to scientist s interest in human genetic variation, human racial classification became a focus of scientific investigation by evolutionary biologists attempting to categorize individual humans based on presumed patterns of biological difference. Scientists had hoped to classify humans in the same way that they classified other species. These scientists attached hierarchical titles to these categorizations; they claimed that differences in skin color, physiognomy, and geography were associated with scientifically measurable differences in character, aptitude, and temperament (Smedley, 1998). However, studies supporting these claims have been unsound (Gould, 1981). Categorization of humans by racial and ethnic groups continues, as researchers must remain aware of this historical legacy of the science of heredity as the genomic era continues to develop (Bonham et al., 2005). Although the HGP has been informative to the public, especially when it comes to racial variations in disorders and genetic reflected illnesses, there are ways it may be used to harm rather than help human development. There are many concepts linked to this term, purchasing, warehousing, manufacturing, etc. Or more precisely: a supply chain is a system of business enterprises that link together to satisfy consumer demand. The elements of a supply chain can be contained in the same business or be part of different companies (Riddalls et Al., 2000) For this essay I have chosen two very different companies; Zara, a Spanish fashion collection manufacturing company, and Dell, American multinational information technologic corporation. That is why they always have fresh and trendy designs. In terms of production, they have and control the main factory in La Coruña (north of Spain) to be able to supply as fast as possible all the stores. The fact of having the factory in Europe and not in other countries such as China is high, but it is something that is covered by lower transportation costs as well as the capacity to supply demand almost immediately, which its translated in big amount of sells. It is a very flexible demand based production. Another positive point of Zara, due to high frequency of changing clothes is the low risk that this report. As they change constantly the outfit, if there is a product that is working good it can be immediately replace within a maximum of one week, while in other companies, where the stock is bigger, it will need to be stored in the shops for longer time. THE MESSAGE OF FALSE RELIGION There are so many sects, cults, religions, philosophies, and movements in the world, all of which claim to be the right way or the only true path to Allah. How can one determine which one is correct or if, in fact, all are correct? False religions all have in common one basic concept with regards to Allah. They either claim that all men are gods or that specific men were Allah or that nature is Allah or that Allah is a figment of man s imagination. Thus, it may be stated that the basic message of false religion is that Allah may be worshipped in the form of His creation. False religion invites man to the worship of creation by calling the creation or some aspect of it God. For example, prophet Jesus invited his followers to worship Allah but those who claim to be his followers today call people to worship Jesus, claiming that he was Allah! Buddha was a reformer who introduced a number of humanistic principles to the religion of India. He did not claim to be God nor did he suggest to his followers that he ...
