Four Kingdoms(4 out of 6) By: Olivia Jacobs 10/21/10
Monerans All bacteria are monerans. They are prokaryotic, and they have no nucleus. Basically there is no brain. Some are mobile and some aren’t. They are mostly beneficial. Since monerans and bacteria are the same, they make dairy products such as: Milk, yogurt, and cheese.
Protists Most protists live in water. All protists are eukaryotic, which means they have a nucleus. Since they are so small, they have to be seen by a microscope, and that makes them microscopic. One cool thing is that they are single-celled! Some examples of protists are…… an amoeba, a paramecium, and a euglena.
Fungi Every time I think fungi, I remember it is a decomposer. Even though fungi isn’t a plant, its cells have a cell wall. It absorbs nutrients from either living or once living things. Other than protists, fungi is multicellular. Finishing up this subject on fungi, some examples are…… Mushrooms; different types of mold, yeast, and morel.
Archaebacteria The last kingdom is the Archaebacteria. Archaebacteria is very ancient. It can live in harsh environments, and that is exactly where it lives. It’s prokaryotic just like monerans. As you may already know when something is prokaryotic, it has no nucleus. They are unicellular. Uni- which is a prefix, means one, so it means the same thing as single celled.
