This document provides instructions for formatting text in PageMaker 7.0. 3. Formatting Text:
You can also learn how to modify the spacing of text , change the
width of character, set tabs and indent, and add bullets and
numbering of paragraphs among other formatting option.
Create a menu that can be modified easily as new specialties are
available.
4. Planning a menu:
Create a menu requires more thought and effort then simply
copying a chef’s recipes on to a piece of paper.
Menu is usually include a lot of text.
So it is helpful to take advantage of page maker character and
paragraph formatting features to enhance then menu’s overall
appearance.
5. Set publication preference:
Start a page maker, open the file PM.G-2.pmd from the drive and folder
where your project files are stored and click ok.
Then save the file as bistro menu.
Open the preference dialog box and change the measurement in and
vertical ruler setting to picas.
Change the save option to smaller.
Click and open the more preferences dialog box
In the text section, select the typographers quotes check box
Click ok in all dialog box to close it.
Save the publication.
6. Format text using the control palette:
Click the text tool in the tool box, then select the text Bob’s Bistro
at the top of the publication.
Change the view to actual size.
Open the control palette in character view.
To change the font size in the selected text to 73 points
Apply small caps formatting to the selected text.
Open the character specification dialog box, then click ok.
Set the small caps size to 70.
click ok to close each dialog box.
finally save the publication.
7. Adjust the baseline:
Start the page maker, open the publication.
Select the ob’s in the word Bob’s
Change the baseline of the selected text to op8 the nudge up button on the
control.
Deselect the text and then select the intro in the word Bistro
Change the baseline to op8 for the selected text
Save the publication.
8. Adjust text spacing:
Start the page maker, then open a publication window.
Select the heading bob’s Bistro.
Using the control palette to change the tracking to very loose.
Select the heading appetizers, and then use the control palette to set
the kerning to 30.
Adjust the kerning to.30 for the heading salads and Entrees,
Scrolling down.
Finally adjust the spacing and save the publication.
9. Set character widths:
Open the define style dialog box, then select the category style.
Click edit menu on the menu bar, then click char.
Open the character specification dialog box.
Adjust the horizontal scale to 120.
click ok to close each dialog box, and then save the publication.
10. Set tabs and indents:
Start page maker, Open the define style dialog box, then select
description style.
Click edit menu on the menu bar, and click the tab to open indent/tabs
dialog box.
Select the dotted lines leader style.
Click edit menu, then click tabs.
Set the right tab market at the 16 pica mark on the ruler.
Select the dotted line leader style, close all dialog box.
Open the define style dialog box, select the description style, click the
edit menu on the menu bar.
Drag the left indent marker to the 1 pica mark, then click ok.
Close each dialog box, and save the publication.
11. Bullet and numbering plug-in:
Start a page maker, open the publication.
Click utilities menu on the menu bar, click the point to plug-ins
then click bullet and numbering.
Select a any bullet style choose them.
Click the all those with style option button, then select the item
style.
Click ok to close the dialog box.
Change the view to fit in window.
Save the publication, print a copy, close the page maker.
Finally then exit the page maker.
