zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images

2. Esri Understands Forest Management
Esri technologies give you the flexibility to respond quickly to today’s challenges
and the power to effectively manage your forest for years to come.
• Get more value from your forest and land data.
• Perform forestry analysis anytime, anywhere, and on any device.
• Improve collaboration among departments, contractors, and shareholders.
3. Better Forest Management
Forests are dynamic. Understanding forest science, economics, and social principles helps you
better care for the forest and meet your business objectives. Use Esri® ArcGIS® technology to
see your forest, analyze complex problems, and design effective solutions.
Accurate forest inventory maps with timber composition and condition
information is essential for forest management planning and contract
management.
Satellite imagery is used to update base map features such as roads
and timber stands as well as provide an indication of forest health.
Advance Forest Management
Monitor Forest Health
Great forestry management includes knowing the
resources the forest contains, calculating potential value,
and planning operations. ArcGIS has a powerful suite
of analytical tools to help you understand and manage
your forest. It has robust data management capacity,
visualization capabilities, modeling tools, and web
applications. Combine ArcGIS with SAP, Cognos, and
Microsoft systems to dramatically advance the way you
manage forest operations, planning, and protection.
A healthy forest is good for the planet and good for
business. You can use ArcGIS to monitor forest health
and calculate loss caused by pests, disease, and invasive
species. Study the relationships between stand type,
climate change, and other disturbance types. Using satellite
imagery and aerial photography in GIS will help you assess
the impact of land-use change and deforestation. You can
also prioritize and keep forest restoration projects on task.
4. Increase Business Value, Efficiency, and Productivity
Make timely, intelligence-based decisions. ArcGIS helps you better understand your forest’s operations and market
values. Built on industry standards, ArcGIS integrates with your existing software and IT infrastructure. This means you add
geographic context in various business tasks such as cost analysis, asset management, and market intelligence. See your
analysis on a map and use advanced geospatial tools to enhance your analysis. Better manage your forest’s portfolio, attract
investors, and collaborate with stakeholders.
ArcGIS increases staff productivity and improves data sharing and distribution. Bring your organization’s forest data
together on a centralized platform. Staff members can easily search data, see it with a map viewer, bring it into their
projects, and analyze it using powerful tools and models. Staff will also be more efficient by using automated workflows and
customized, task-specific tools.
Use Esri ArcGIS Online to collaborate with stakeholders and develop land-use strategies that meet multiple objectives.
You can create maps to show schedules for sustainable harvesting, planting, and other activities. Then publish the maps
online so the people who need them can easily access them anytime, on any device.
SM
5. Forest operations managers use GIS to develop harvest schedules,
optimize route selection, and determine transport costs to mills.
Detailed maps of stands, adjacent harvests, roads, boundaries and
topography improves field worker productivity and leads to better
planning decisions.
Improve Manufacturing Returns
Make Better Land
Administration Decisions
In a dynamic economy, a forest company’s ability to
respond to changing markets is critical to success. A
company that keeps its mill timber inventories lean must
respond quickly to buy wood, change the product mix, and
move loggers to all-weather jobs.
The Esri ArcGIS platform will improve communications
between the mill, corporate managers, supply chain
customers, and foresters. Create a common operational
picture for coordinating production and distribution
activities. Monitor facilities and operations in real time
including production levels, downtime, and costs.
Land managers need to access the right data at the right
time to quickly evaluate it, and take action. Use ArcGIS
to effectively manage agreements, land records, and
real estate. Through the map interface, you can quickly
locate relevant and current information such as land
access agreements, adjacent landholders, acquisitions,
and appraisals. ArcGIS also helps you estimate taxes
and fees, evaluate land values and potentials, and seize
opportunities.
