This presentation highlights key findings from the most recent Cadre harmonisé analysis on the food and nutrition situation in the Sahel and West Africa. Some 4.9 people are currently in immediate need for assistance (October-December 2019). Key findings were presented by Issouffou Baoua, CILSS/AGRHYMET at the 35th RPCA annual meeting on 9 December 2019 in Paris.

24. Recommendations
 Use the results of CH analysis for planning and formulation of appropriate
response plan for Food and Nutrition insecure populations
 Continue to strengthen the security operatives in troubled areas with a view to
making the vulnerable populations in such areas more accessible for
humanitarian assistance.
 Targeted Emergency humanitarian interventions especially in the Lake Chad
Basin (North East States of Nigeria, Diffa in Niger and Lac in Chad) and the
Liptako Gourma Authority Zone and some of the North ‐western states (Burkina
Faso‐Mali‐Niger)
 Promote recovery and resilience interventions to improve self‐reliance as well
as prevent further deterioration of the food and nutrition security situation
during the lean in all the countries

25. Recommendations
Strengthen emergency response in IDP and refugee
camps in Niger and Nigeria as well as for IDP in the host
communities (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and
Chad).
Assess the quality of humanitarian assistance in IDP
camps in Nigeria's Borno State and refugee camps in
Niger
Set up a data collection system for conflict zones and
inaccessible area to facilitate the FNI analysis
IDPs and refugees

Accelerating the pre‐positioning of feed stocks
in biomass‐deficit areas in Senegal,
Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and
Chad
Accelerate the transhumance political
