Following conventions of the adventure genre
- 2. Mise-en-Scene To take advantage of natural lighting is a key aspect of my trailer as it makes the atmosphere of the setting more natural and fluid. By conforming to the conventions of the adventure genre it would make sense to have the majority of the trailer filmed outside among natural landscapes. The use of costumes and props has been kept to a minimum as the concept of a traveller/backpacker is to carry as little as possible. The costume consists mainly of an army jacket, top, backpack and boots.
- 3. Cinematography Within the adventure genre it seems evident that the most popular camera shots consist of close ups of the main character and wide landscape shots of the location surrounding the protagonist. With this information I adapted my trailer to have a more natural feel by using the landscapes and natural lighting to my advantage. The cinematography used within my trailer has been drawn by inspiration from popular adventure films such as Lord of the Rings, Into the wild and Samsara .
- 4. Characters Within the film there will be only one main character that the film and trailer will be focused on. As the concept of the film is upon the focus of a single mans journey it seems relevant to only have one character. The idea of having more than one focus character has come into consideration but after much debate over the idea the sensible option would only be to only have one character as the trailer is focused on the backpacking journey of one man.
- 5. Locations There are many locations that I have chosen to shoot my trailer. Mainly because of the easy access to the public locations and the views that can be captured throughout the day and at sunset. Due to the flat land the camera is able to capture everything within a 2 mile radius. Conforming to the conventions of the adventure genre I have chosen these locations because of the view, the natural landscapes and the easy access. Taking advantage of the locations allows my main character to travel long distances on camera without being disturbed by external factors such as other people and animals
