IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE
FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA
PRODUCTS?
CONVENTIONS
• Our fim does not follow the general conventions
assosiated with a horror film such as dark areas, old
and abandoned houses etc but rather then using
these our film is filmed in the open on a bright and
sunny day and the genre is enforced through a
paranormal aspect which is aparent incredibly
early in the film.
THE BACKSTORY
• Our film changes the form of normal horror films because we provide a
backstory of where the monster is from, we take out this sense of mystery of
who the monster is and replace it with pure fear for the main actor so all
throughout the film which sets us apart from a huge amount of horror films.
With us providing a small backstory for the monster it allowed us to develop
this throughout the film by giving the monster a paranormal aspect.
EDITING
• In our editing we inputted generic horror music to
allow us to fit into the genre so people where aware
from the beginning what type of film they where
watching. Our fast cuts allowed us to fit in the
monster without giving it a specific section in the
film so the focus was always on the main character.
FILMING
• Our filming was based around our main actor rather then the monster, the
monster always fitted into the shot with the main actor they where never
focused around him which allowed us to use a wide range of spots to fit it in
where nessesery. We put some longer lengh clips in where the monster was
not aparent at first but later came in which challenges normal forms of media
products because the clips are not based around the monster even though
he plays a key role.
