Fighting Financial Crime with Artificial IntelligenceDataWorks Summit
How can we take the state of the art in deep learning and AI research, and transplant it into a large bank to deliver useful results which impact the general public? To answer this broad-reaching question, we take the viewer through a solution Think Big Analytics recently deployed at a major European bank for fraud detection, using state of the art AI techniques and a near-real time open-source architecture. We show how financial transactions can be transposed into a form where the latest AI techniques in image recognition can be leveraged, in surprisingly novel ways. We have been able to more accurately detect fraud and reduce financial crime, cutting losses and improving customer experience. We describe some architectures which can be used to do this in production, at scale, in global financial institutions.

Understanding Your Crown Jewels: Finding, Organizing, and Profiling Sensitive...DataWorks Summit
Emerging regulations such as GDPR and increasing incidence of data breaches such as those at Equifax are bringing a firm’s handling and processing of sensitive data such as personal data of its customers and employees into focus. Enterprises need to now be able to discover and manage sensitive data usage to answer compliance and regulatory reporting requirements and to prevent any reputational damage in the event of a data breach. In this talk, we will outline how using the foundation of open source technologies such as Apache Ranger, Apache Atlas and the recently announced Hortonworks DataPlane Service platform components data stewards, analysts, and data engineers can better understand their sensitive data assets across multiple data lakes at scale. We will demonstrate how enterprises can get a comprehensive 360-degree view of their sensitive data including where such data is located, who is accessing what data and how frequently, when was such data accessed, deleted, moved, how is the data protected, and where did this data come from. In addition we will show how such data can be discovered and profiled to understand their characteristics. We will also demonstrate organization and classification use cases for such sensitive data to facilitate their curation into collections for various business purposes and how such collections can be aggregated and summarized to provide a single view of sensitive data footprint in an enterprise from risk management and audit/compliance/forensics perspectives.

Journey to Big Data: Main Issues, Solutions, BenefitsDataWorks Summit
One of the most fruit aspects of being chosen as a partner bank is that you can have a backend that can communicate directly with the client's system. With this partnership, Banco Santander has led to running a large series of third party applications on their banking system for many years.
Banking is the most regulated sector to make day-to-day operations more interesting. Adapting the system to regulation is not optional and is mandatory. For today's banks internal and external audits are an important routine. Furthermore, considering that SCIB is a global player, this pattern is repeated in each country where the group exists.
It can be said that it is a really interesting compound! Various kinds of third party systems are installed in many countries, coexisting with our centralized system, transmitting information mutually, being adjusted manually, data is aggregated / integrated at the back office. Spaghetti comes to mind when considering that all data comes and goes without delay. More and more, regulators and auditors are able to perfectly identify the origin of each data. This often means that you need to manually interfere in order to fully locate the data.
Javier Nieto, active in Banco Santander's corporate investment banking architecture and innovation department, talks about integration challenges that Santander experienced when building an on-demand Data Lake to move to global big data.
Oracle's BigData solutions consist of a number of new products and solutions to support customers looking to gain maximum business value from data sets such as weblogs, social media feeds, smart meters, sensors and other devices that generate massive volumes of data (commonly defined as ‘Big Data’) that isn’t readily accessible in enterprise data warehouses and business intelligence applications today.

Big Data Analytics: Reference Architectures and Case Studies by Serhiy Haziye...SoftServe
BI architecture drivers have to change to satisfy new requirements in format, volume, latency, hosting, analysis, reporting, and visualization. In this presentation delivered at the 2014 SATURN conference, SoftServe`s Serhiy and Olha showcased a number of reference architectures that address these challenges and speed up the design and implementation process, making it more predictable and economical:
- Traditional architecture based on an RDMBS data warehouse but modernized with column-based storage to handle a high load and capacity
- NoSQL-based architectures that address Big Data batch and stream-based processing and use popular NoSQL and complex event-processing solutions
- Hybrid architecture that combines traditional and NoSQL approaches to achieve completeness that would not be possible with either alone
The architectures are accompanied by real-life projects and case studies that the presenters have performed for multiple companies, including Fortune 100 and start-ups.

Cloud Migration headache? Ease the pain with Data Virtualization! (EMEA)Denodo
Watch full webinar here: https://bit.ly/3CWIBzd
Moving data to the Cloud is a priority for many organizations. Benefits - in terms of flexibility, agility, and cost savings - are driving Cloud adoption. This journey to the Cloud is not easy: moving application(s) and data to the Cloud can be challenging and entails disruption of business, when not carefully managed.
When systems are being migrated, the resultant hybrid (or even multi-) Cloud architecture is, by definition, more complex AND making it harder/more costly to retrieve the data we need.
Data Virtualization can help organizations at all stages of a Cloud journey - during migration as well as in our “new hybrid multi-Cloud reality”
Watch on-demand this webinar to learn how Data Virtualization can:
- Help organizations manage risk and minimize the disruption caused as systems are moved to the Cloud
- Provide a single point of access for data that is both on-premise and in the Cloud, making it easier for users to find and access the data that they need
- Provide a secure layer to protect and manage data when it's distributed across hybrid or multi-Cloud architectures
… watch a live demo about how to ease the migration.

Curiosity and Lemontree present - Data Breaks DevOps: Why you need automated ...Curiosity Software Ireland
This webinar was co-hosted by Curiosity and Lemontree on April 22nd, 2021. Watch the webinar on demand - https://opentestingplatform.curiositysoftware.ie/data-breaks-devops-webinar
DevOps and continuous delivery are only as fast as their slowest part. For many organisations, testing remains the major sticking point. It’s viewed as a necessary bottleneck, at fault for delaying releases, yet still unable to catch bugs before they hit production. One persistent, yet often overlooked, barrier is commonly at fault: test data. Data is the place to improve release velocity and quality today.
For many test teams today, test data delays remain their greatest bottleneck. Many still rely on a central team for data provisioning, before spending further time finding and making the data they need for a particular test suite. This siloed “request and receive” approach to data provisioning will always be a game of catch-up. Development is constantly getting faster, releasing systems that require increasingly complex data. Manually finding, securing and copying that data will never be able to keep up.
Delivering quality systems at speed instead requires on demand access to rich and interrelated data. With today’s technologies, that means “allocating” data during CI/CD processes and automated testing, making rich and compliant data available to parallel teams and frameworks automatically.
This webinar will present a pragmatic approach for moving from current test data processes to “just in time” data allocation. Veteran test data innovator, Huw Price, will offer cutting edge techniques for allocating rich test data from a range of sources on-the-fly. This “Test Data Automation” ensures that every test and tester has the data they need, exactly when and where they need it.

You may have already heard about common microservices patterns like CQRS, Saga, Event Sourcing and Transaction Outbox; we’ll share how GoldenGate can simplify these patterns while also bringing stronger data consistency to your microservice integrations. We will also discuss how complex event processing (CEP) and stream processing can be used with event-driven MA for operational and analytical use cases.
Business pressures for modernization and digital transformation drive demand for rapid, flexible DevOps, which microservices address, but also for data-driven Analytics, Machine Learning and Data Lakes which is where data management tech really shines. Join us for this presentation where we take a deep look at the intersection of microservice design patterns and modern data integration tech.

As part of the DOE Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) program, NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and ALCF at Argonne National Lab are working closely with General Atomics on accelerating the computing requirements of the DIII-D experiment. As part of the work the team is investigating ways to speedup the time to solution for many different parts of the DIII-D workflow including how they run jobs on HPC systems. One of these routes is looking at Globus Compute as a way to replace the current method for managing tasks and we describe a brief proof of concept showing how Globus Compute could help to schedule jobs and be a tool to connect compute at different facilities.
Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.
We describe the deployment and use of Globus Compute for remote computation. This content is aimed at researchers who wish to compute on remote resources using a unified programming interface, as well as system administrators who will deploy and operate Globus Compute services on their research computing infrastructure.
