This document provides instructions for an assignment to write a 10 line poem, song, or rap incorporating various forms of figurative language including simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification, and onomatopoeia. Students must include imagery and use a key and color coding. They will be required to perform their original work for the class and can receive extra credit for performing with another student, though each must submit individual work meeting the requirements.

speech in your spiral notebook. Your topic: pumpkins.

• Extra Credit (5pts): You may perform your poem/song/rap in conjunction
with another student (e.g. a rap battle). However, you must submit your
own individual work that includes the requirements above.
