Best Friends For Life Essay
Best Friends for Life
By: Marellus Sawyer
Morgan? You asleep? Dallas asked me while looking ahead at the road.
I was laying back in my seat, staring out the passenger window at the trees whizzing by.
It was a hot summer night and we had driven down to Detroit to watch a Tigers game. We were
headed north to home, almost a 4.5 hour drive.
I m not sure why I didn t answer him. I pretended to be asleep and looked out the window, lost in my
thoughts.
Dallas turned up the radio a bit and sang along off key to The Fray.
Dallas is my best friend. I owed everything to him. When I moved next door to him when I was 10
years old, we became instant best friends. I hung out with the popular crowd at school because of him.
I made the baseball team ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dallas was hot. At least he was to me. He had thick brown hair and blue eyes. His body was ripped.
He had a goatee on his chin.
We were both about the same height, me at 6 0 and him at 6 1 . He had about 10 pounds of muscle on
me, but we were both built similarly. We could even share clothes if we wanted.
I had blue eyes and dark blond hair, but I kept my hair buzzed pretty short.
When we passed a sign that said REST AREA: 2 MILES , Dallas muttered Oh, man. Thank God. I
gotta piss so fucking bad.
Dallas pulled into the deserted rest stop and nudged my arm.
Morgan. You need to piss?
I sat up. Yeah.
Fuck, dude. I m gonna piss my pants, he laughed as he parked the car.
He shut the engine off and practically sprinted to the small building. I was right behind him. I looked
around and there was no one around. It was pretty late, after midnight. There were a few semi trucks
parked on the truck side of the parking lot, but otherwise it was deserted. It was dark and kind of scary
and it freaked me out a little bit.
Dallas was unzipping his shorts as soon as we were in the restroom. He made a beeline for the last
stall and I took the one next to him. I could hear him loudly pissing into the bowl. I pulled out my dick
and let loose my own stream.
Fuck, that feels good! Dallas shouted over the stall wall.
I tried not to think about Dallas next door with his dick in his hand. I finished pissing and was shaking
off when I heard him

Genetic Counseling Paper
Genetic Counseling
According to Berger (2014), a patient can receive genetic counseling to learn more about a
condition/disease he or she may possibly be at risk for and may possibly pass onto their children (p.
88). A genetic counselor is educated and trained to describe to the patient the condition/disease, the
benefits and drawbacks for taking the genetic test, the test results meaning, and how having the
condition could affect their future children (Berger, 2014, p. 88). Then, the patient not the genetic
counselor makes decisions about his or her next steps with respect to all the information they have
been provided by the genetic counselor (Berger, 2014, p. 89).

However, I could not find genetic counseling for other types of conditions and diseases. Overall, the

and cardiovascular conditions and diseases (Genetic Counseling, 2016). Both websites are very
informative about genetic counseling presenting current detailed material in an organized format

Theme Of The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight From Heaven
Imagine a society that prevents you from being successful because of who you are. That is the kind of
life both Balram and Victor lived throughout their lives. In The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, the
main character Balram experienced excessive discrimination because of his background. People like
him who came from extreme poverty are treated like animals because of the caste system that people
in India follows as some form of tradition. On the other hand, Victor, from The Lone Ranger And
Tonto Fistfight From Heaven by Sherman Alexie, he witnesses the tragic lifestyle of native americans
in the reservation and after leaving the reservation, he also experienced discrimination because of the
stereotypes against the native americans. The marginalization Balram accustomed in the caste system
of India and Victor experienced outside of the reservation and within the community of the reservation
caused them to escape from their own lives and hope for a better reality.
Both Balram and Victor thinks that the culture that they lived throughout the most part of their life is
completely dysfunctional and that thought made them eager to attain the outside culture. The life that
Victor witnessed in the reservation and Balram witnessed in his village proved the society they live in
is flawed. In The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven, Victor and Adrian watches the
basketball game of Julius but he is not doing as well as they expected him to be. After the basketball

Bones Essay
In the past decade, network television has been bombarded by crime shows attempting to make their
mark on viewers. All of these programs CSI, Lie to Me, Numb3rs, Law Order have the same general
set up of a male lead with a hot head who is complemented by his team of FBI agents. As a loyal
viewer and fan of Bones, I often wonder what makes it stay afloat with so many shows out there like
it. Could it be that Bones isn t like any of the other crime shows? Through its crimes and unsolved
murders, Bones helps its viewers make sense of the disastrous world around them. The world we live
in is full of danger and unsolved crime, but after watching Dr. Brennan, her team of squints and Agent
Booth solve even the most bizarre murders, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, Nguyen also says that while the actors portray their roles very well, and it is clear that the
slight chemistry between Deschanel [Dr. Brennan] and Boreanaz [Agent Booth] doesn t seem to be
headed for any successful route, which he obviously thinks is an old, worn out scenario. The
chemistry between them is undeniable, and as we have seen in the most recent season, Booth has
accepted his feelings for Brennan and, in the early episodes of season five, has been trying to tell her
how he feels. In the real world, many crimes remain unsolved, but in Bones every murder is solved
and the killer is brought to justice. As Letizia, the author of a TV review entitled Bones , asserts, fans
root not just for crimes to be solved, but for [Booth and Brennan], working in tandem, to solve them.
The viewer begins to trust these two characters and think of them as real people they have let into their
lives. Another difference, pointed out by Letizia, that Bones offers is
Where an episode of CSI leaves one with the feeling that evil exists no matter what we do about it,
Bones makes the case that there is also good. Granted, truly happy endings are rare when it comes to
murder investigations, but the victims depicted in Bones often find some sort of redemption at the end
even if it simply means their families learn what really happened to them.

Using Lies to Define Morality of Characters in Adventures...
Mark Twain once said, Lie an abomination before the Lord and an ever present help in time of trouble.
Twain s description of deceit gives it a type of double meaning. This idea of lying being used for good
as well as evil is not unheard of. Many time people find it necessary to lie to maintain a greater good
or save a life. However, all too often, people lie for self serving, immoral purposes. In this quote,
Twain elegantly shows the delicate balance between good and evil in the performance of the same act.
Furthermore, Twain also shows this complex thought in his portrayal of characters in Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn. Twains novel emulates his quote, juxtaposing the good and bad aspects of
stretching the truth. Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through lies, Twain writes, ?And he always let on that Peter wrote him the things, but that was a lie: he
got every blessed one of them out of that young flathead that we canoed up to the steamboat. Then
Mary Jane she fetched the letter her father left behind, and the king he read it out loud and cried over
it? (ch. 25, 139). Here Twain displays the Kings contrived attempt of remorse over the death of his so
called brother, his conscience unaffected . These hollow signs of emotion portray the two men?s cold
response to a man?s death, as they attempt to profit off of his passing. Similarly, in another instance, ?
one of them got on one side of the coffin, and t?other on t?other side, and they kneeled down and
rested their foreheads on the coffin, and let on to pray all to theirselves?I never see anything so
disgusting? (ch. 25, 138), giving the reader another glimpse of the immoral tactics of the King and
Duke . In this situation, the two crooks play off of the sympathy of others so that they might better pry
them for money, an act properly referred to by Huck as ?disgusting? (ch. 25, 138). The duo?s spurious
act, as a means of swindling innocent townspeople, underlines their immorality by showing how
effortlessly they use their guile to delude others and bring upon them great misfortune. Another
attempt by the King and Duke to rob people of their money comes when the

Ap Euro Peasant Rebellion Comparision Essays
DBQ: Peasants revolts
From 1524 to 1526 peasant revolts were occurring throughout the German states. Many causes and
responses brewed out of these revolts. One cause is from religion issues (1,3,6) , Luther s idea of
equality. Another cause is the peasant gaining power (2,8,9). As a result of these causes came out
response, the most common response was riots and chaos (5,11,7). These revolts would end in
thousands of rebel deaths and others are also killed.
In the early 1500s religious reforms were constant throughout all of Germany, including the ideas of
Martin Luther. Martin Luther brought the idea of equality to the peasants (1,3,6) , which in term
started the revolts. In document 1 Leonhard van Eck states that the peasants were ... Show more

This document is written by peasants hence the encouragement for the revolt, although Lotzer might
be saying this so that we may be the leader of this revolt and he is a craftsman so this might get more
people to notice his craft, he then gains more money. Document 8 is the complete opposite perspective
of the peasants gaining power and the revolt. Lorenz Fries is a catholic archbishop and the revolts are
driven out of Luther s doctrines. He said that the peasants are troublesome and the revolt should be
stopped, but he most likely said this to get people to turn their backs on Lutheranism and accept
Catholicism. Although his report is a secret one so he probably wrote it secretly so that he would not
be killed or hurt by the peasant s rebellion. In document 9, Caspar Nutzel, a noble, says that the
peasants were blinded and they have gotten too strong. This document is also a response in that people
have allowed the revolts to happen and the peasants have gone too far. Though this document should
be approached with caution because he uses some absolute language in the regard to how the peasants
act, and Nutzel might be stating this to keep his job as town councilor.
The most common response to the revolts was chaos and rioting (5,11,7). In document 5, a
theologian/journalist states what happened at Weinsburg when the peasants arrived there.

Track Developmental Milestones
The reason why Ms. Carolyn stated that it is important to track developmental milestones is because
you will never know when you will catch something different from the child. It also helps with
making a milestone checklist because it helps with keeping up with each child s progress. Because of
using a checklist, it helps keep Ms. Carolyn in check and helps with thinking of things her children
should be doing next. It s also important to track developmental milestone because it s useful for the
families of the children. The reason why it is important for the families is because it can give great

An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer
Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a
granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem,
I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never
experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she
is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to hear more about the
purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can make yourself an angel by just
lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe winter as a place where angels are
made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes
that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you.
The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death.
Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was saying, so
that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the
Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike
things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean sun is
what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile adds to the poem s
meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is warmth in her home in the
Caribbean.
There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what the
author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives in the
Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the
eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked
for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again before the
cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian belief that when you die
you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma

The Bhagavad Gita is a story about the conversation between Arjuna and Krishna when Arjuna is
questioning if he should fight in a war. While The Ramayana is about the life of Rama during his exile
and going back to his kingdom. Although these two stories are very different, they do include some

He states, Do not become a cowardly eunuch, Son of Pritha; this is not fitting for you. Let go of this
lowly weakness of the heart and stand up, Scorcher of the Enemy! (p16: 3). Krishna is telling Arjuna
being a warrior is what he was born to do and a warrior should never be weak. Krishna also says,
Death is fixed for those who are born, and birth is fixed for those who die; since such an end is certain,
you should not grieve (p23: 27). He is basically telling Arjuna the way of life, so he should not be
worried since this is the cycle of life. Krishna proceeds to tell Arjuna this is his dharma as a warrior.
He suggests, If you will not engage this fight for the sake of dharma, you will have shunned your own
dharma and good name, and shall cause harm (p25: 33). Meaning if Arjuna believes he should not
fight because of what he thinks is his dharma, he will destroy his real dharma of being a warrior and
will cause himself bad karma. Krishna then talks about yoga in action. Krishna says, The person who

The Indian Ocean Jon Alikakos tsunami Mr. Pizzuto
On the morning of December 26, 2004 on the eastern shoreline of India, individuals saw the ocean
retreating a couple of hundred meters and they could see the uncovered beach front rack. This
happened in light of the fact that an enormous tsunami which happened after the undersea seismic
tremor with a size of 9.3 severed the bank of Bandeh Aceh in Northern Sumatra.
This wave spread itself to a length of 1200 km reaching the Indian Coast, Sri Lanka, Maldives

John Smith and William Bradford, both early colonial governors, were two writers from the same time

who took action with care. In their writings it is obvious they have noticeable personalities. They use
different ways of painting images in the reader s mind by using distinct vocabulary and writing styles.

The two religions of Rastafarianism and Judaism embody many of the same characteristics, as well as

The Falashas adhere to the teachings of the Torah, the five books of Moses, as well as all the other

Although, they reject any scriptures from the New Testament and the Koran, which are used by

attachment to the Jewish religion because they do not follow the precepts of the Halachah, or Oral

In the Jewish religion, Judaism is not only obtained through conversion but mainly through our

Pieter Bruegel s Parable
The Parable of the Blind
The Dutch inventive painter and remarkable draftsman, Pieter Bruegel the Elder was born in the
Netherlands in the1520s. That is all that is known until Bruegel residency is recorded in Antwerp,
Belgium in 1551, when he became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke, as a Master painter. Pieter
Bruegel the Elder created art that portrayed the humanity of people living in the real world. The
Parable of the Blind was the one of the last paintings he painted that is a biblical parable told by Jesus
about the leaders in church, the Pharisees, who created rules that lead the common people away from
God, just as the peasants were also lead astray in the 1500 and 1600s and how the people are lead

Bruegel s drawing and paintings are considered Renaissance Flemish Baroque paintings, which is art
from the Southern Netherlands during the 16th and 17th centuries. Bruegel s paintings were an
invention of moving away from the princes, queens, kings and wealthy divine paintings, to the life of
the peasants. The common people caught the eye of Bruegel, possible from the political and religious
conflict that surround him in his world.
Political movements in the early1600s caused bitterness for the people living in the Netherlands,
which most likely affected Bruegel s art. However, there is not documentation of Bruegel s political

The Goal Through Acts Of Domestic Terrorism
Maureen, who immigrated from Montreal, Quebec in 1995 moved to the United States for personal,
political, and economic reasons. She was in pursuit of a better life for herself and her family and
wanted to escape the growing linguistic and cultural intolerance of Quebec society.
The late 1960 s and early 1970 s in Canada was a time of political upheaval, especially in Quebec,
with the rise of the separatist/ liberation movement. The Front de Liberation du Quebec (FLQ) gained
popularity by expressing the outwardly harmless goal of Quebec independence from Canada and the
creation of a French workers society. But the FLQ attempted to achieve this goal through acts of
domestic terrorism, such as planting bombs in Canadian federal institutions like mailboxes, and
creating mass hysteria, especially in English communities. By doing this, the FLQ managed to even
further separate the French and English in Quebec. In October 1970, the FLQ kidnapped the British
trade commissioner, James Cross, and the vice premier of Quebec, Pierre Laporte. In response, Prime
Minister Pierre Trudeau sent soldiers and tanks into the streets of Montreal . The Prime Minister had
declared martial law in the province of Quebec, the only time that Canada has ever done this.

A Problem for the Aviation Industry Essay
Section 217: A Problem for the Aviation Industry
On a cold February evening in 2009, just outside the city of Buffalo, New York, two pilots crashed a
new aircraft on final approach to land into Buffalo Niagara International Airport. In an effort to
prevent an accident of a similar nature from happening, the U.S. Congress passed H.R. 5900, the
Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act. This bill under Title II was aimed
to enhance airline safety and in part prevent an accident of this nature from occurring again (U.S.
House 2010). Section 217 of the bill pushes the minimum hours required to act as a pilot on a regional

Asia s economy is booming and this has resulted in the growth of many startup carriers that offer tax
free salaries and free housing for pilots with less than 1500 hours a very attractive opportunity. This
may cause a potential migration of pilots that would lead to many U.S. airlines having planes but no
one qualified to fly them.
Further contributing to the shortage is that the cost to become a pilot is already expensive, causing low
interest in the field; this law would make it even worse. By calculation, if a potential pilot were to start
today, he would probably be facing a debt of between $50,000 and $80,000 just to receive the flight
training required to gain 250 hours (Chatterjee). Added to this is the cost of attending a college with an
accredited program. Potential pilots could be looking at paying well over $200,000 in loans to be able
to fly. Before this law passed, pilots were assured that if they worked hard and passed through all the
training received from college and flight school they would be able to become a pilot with one of the
regional carriers and make a small salary while obtaining the required hours for one of the major
carriers. Now, even this option has been taken away by the government because of the new hour
requirement. Many pilots will have to look for work at their local airport for two or even three years
without a steady pay in order to get a job which will only

Susan Wallace (2007:114) A key consideration in the planning of any lesson, therefore, is that it
should create learning activities which are accessible to all learners and which do not make any
learner feel excluded, directly or by implication The lecturer needs to be aware of the awarding body s
requirements while devising a scheme of work, time restraints within a lesson will mean that you have
to keep to your aims and objectives and that they are realistic resources need to be reasonable and not
outside the reach of any student/ lecturer/ learning facility s budget. Delivery and Facilitate The
delivery or lecture (call it what you will) is the method of getting the information over to your
learners, it s all about how you deliver the lesson as to it being a success or failure. It is the purpose of
delivery and facilitating to ensure that as Susan Wallace (2007:95) states the body of knowledge or set
of competences which must be transferred to the learner. The act of facilitator enables the students to
be guided by the lecturer and allows the students to become responsible for their own development,
only stepping in when needed. There is a balance between Lecturer and Facilitator mode. The lecturer
must also take into consideration all of the legislative laws and implement them where s required. It is
the lecturer s responsibility to also: A, Create a positive classroom environment which is safe, friendly

A Comparison of Men and Women Essay
Men vs. Women
I do not pretend to be a complete expert in the vast world of men and women. However, as one of
these creatures, I decided early on in life to do my best to figure out the relationship between us and
our counterparts. This was very interesting to me because, unlike most people, I do not believe that we
simply evolved to become what we are today. I believe we were created the way we are by a very big
God who knew what He was doing, and did it for a purpose. After a mere 18 years of observation, I
have concluded that we as humans are trying to look too deeply into the purpose of man and woman.
We make the relationship too complicated. We need to stop prying into why men like football and
women like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree that something needs to change. In 1912 there was a divorce for every 12 marriages. In 1932,
there was one for every six. By the time 1990 rolled around, one out of every two couples were getting
a divorce. Now it is considered rare if you have been with the same spouse your whole life. The big
problem with divorce is that each person continues on in life to marry a creature with the exact same
flaws as the previous one. Some, however, declare war on the whole opposite sex, and end their lives
lonely and confused as to why they are lonely. In his book, Tender Warrior, Stu Weber refers to a
poem recently written by a woman struggling with these issues:
Life in a Tomb
The emptiness of 20+ years.
The loss of hope.
The battle for joy with a good man
a man content to be alone
(but he needs me to be the keeper of his house,
the mother of his children)
a companion but no communion.
How can one endure contented
with so little
amidst so much material?
I worry for my soul

An Analysis and Comparison of Modern Tragedy in Drama
Aristotle thoroughly describes his understanding of the tragedy in the Poetics and bases this
conception on certain requirements. According to Aristotle the three most important variables that
define a tragedy are plot, characters, and theme. Using Oedipus Rex as a sort of ideal, this philosopher
demonstrates how a tragedy functions in order to evoke catharsis while exploring themes and human
flaws, or mistakes. In Oedipus Rex, the main figure, Oedipus the King is a subject of fate, unable to
escape himself and his desire to uncover the truth. In essence, this drama demonstrates the fall of a
prominent figure brought down by his inescapable fortune and self destruction. I definitely believe it
is difficult to find a modern day tragedy that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
case rests in the fact that Teddy murdered his wife, who suffered from mania, after she drowned his
two children. Once Teddy becomes aware of these truths his character, his status as a U.S. Martial,
evaporates as he contemplates his history and loss. Likewise, Oedipus search for the true murder of
Laius eventually reveals that he in fact murdered the former King. Once Oedipus becomes aware of
this fact his whole persona and world unravel as further truths become inherently evident. He must
face the reality that destiny drove the outcome of his life; and his inability to heed the advice of
Jocasta, his wife and mother, who pleads In God s name I beg you no.3 results in his fall from
greatness and virtue. These two stories therefore illustrate the climax in manners described by
Aristotle who argues, The middle, or climax, must be caused by earlier incidents and itself cause the
incidents that follow.4 Granted, this element seems characteristic of drama in general, the onset of
conflict eventually elicits the apex of action. However, the events that follow the climax allow tragedy
to separate from other sects of fiction. The dénouement of Shutter Island demonstrates the aspect of
unraveling, or even entropy, which Aristotle discusses. In this story, Teddy comes to his realization of
the truth, and as a result, decides to feign lunacy in order to receive a lobotomy. We initially view
Teddy Daniels as an imposing figure, a U.S.

Ballistics In The Field Of Criminal Justice
What are the different types of ballistics that we study in the field of criminal justice? We study three
main types they are: internal, external, and terminal ballistics. Internal ballistics is the interior
workings of a weapon and the functioning of its ammunition. External ballistics is the study of the
flight of the bullet from the mussel of the gun to the target. Terminal ballistics is what happens to the
bullet once it hits the target. We will take a closer look at each one of these throughout this paper.
Internal Ballistics Internal ballistics is the study of what occurs within the barrel of a firearm from the
exact moment when the firing pin hits the primer to the time that the bullet exists out of the barrel of
the firearm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this can be broke down into two categories penetration ballistics, which is the capability of
missile to penetrate through materials. Wound ballistics which is the effect the missile has on living
tissue. Penetration potential is the penetration through different materials and is an influential factor in
shooting incidents. One of the most standard tests to the penetration levels was pine boards of various
thicknesses, which is often plagued with inaccuracies. In general wound ballistics, which is the
capability of a bullet to strike through a human being. The first of these is where a bullet drills its way
through the body leaving a small entry and an equally small exit hole. The second is when bullet
leaves a small entry hole and an enormous exit hole. The third is when the victim is shot by something
other than a rifle, and the impact is enough to throw the person through the air. After leaving the barrel
of the firearm there are three main factors that make for unstable condition, which are: yaw is the
angle between longitudinal axis of a projectile and its line of flight as it exists before the bullet is
stable. Precession is the rotational effect of the bullet about its mid axis. Nutation is the constant
corkscrew motion of the bullet. To stimulate body tissue they use ballistic gelatin. So that the forensics
team can demonstrate or recreate the crime scene in a lab for the

Crisis in Ukraine Essay
The big crisis in Ukraine is starting to get out of hand. The government cannot even figure out what to
do, and is getting kicked out of office. There are street protests happening all over Ukraine especially
at Kyiv s Independence Square. There is civil unrest against Yanukovych because he did not do what
the people wanted to have. After everything is starting to cool down, Russian troops start to enter the
country. The crisis was getting so far out of hand that the US and the EU had to figure out how to help,
so they got involved in the crisis. The Ukraine conflict was triggered by Yanukovych declining the EU
deal, and when everything was getting settled down in Ukraine, Russia invades Ukraine.

Vlad Roditelev, a Russian policeman, considered the assignment a noble calling when the government
called for reinforcements (Crowley and Shuster 183). The main reason that Ukraine asks Russia to
help is that Russia is Ukraine s biggest trading partner, and Russia is the source of much of Ukraine s
energy, and Ukraine will ask them for help when they really need it. After the rallies that Ukraine had
were finished, back in Kiev s Independence Maiden Square, coffins were displayed in front of huge
crowds, so people can see all the people that have been killed by the government. The coffins were
also showed to let the people think that something like this should not happen again in Ukraine. Petrou
also said, Kyiv s Independence Square is a shrine to the fallen, a celebration, and a place to wonder
and worry what might lie ahead for Ukraine (127). The civil unrest in Ukraine started when
Yanukovych declined an EU deal that the citizens wanted him to agree with. Matthews said, One of
the demands that the EU wanted to do, in the free trade and political cooperation, was the freeing of
the Prime Minister Yulia Tymosherko (Danilova). People in the west did not really follow
Yanukovych, so Matthews said, Yanukovych has never really been president of the western part of
Ukraine (Matthews 162). It was out of balance in Ukraine Matthews also said, People desired

THE SORRY STATE OF FILIPINO ATHLETES AT THE OLYMPICS
Look! Even, what s that Uzbekistan?! What s Uzbekistan?! Even this Uzbekistan has at least one

Olympic medal count. For this year s Olympic Games in London, the Philippines sent out eleven
athletes to compete in eight sports, making it the smallest Philippine delegation at the Summer Games
since 1936. Out of those eleven, only two made it past their events preliminary rounds: boxer Mark

Olympiad, the Philippines failed to get a medal of any sort.

The United States also have their own form of NSAs, but are called national sports federations. The
USOC s main focus are the athletes themselves and entering them into these competitions, while the
individual sports federations are in charge of these athlete s training of the regulation of their own
sporting community. These organizations roles are defined and clear, much unlike in the Philippines.
There also exists a second problem, this time, within the NSAs themselves. In an article by Gerry
Carpio, he talks about how divisions within the NSAs are causing major setbacks. In the Philippines,
NSAs can have two presidents: one to be recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the
other to be recognized by international committees. Carpio even goes on to state that these two chiefs
and their followers are mortal enemies. In the article he describes an instance where feuding within an
NSA ended in disaster. A conflict between the two figures of authority forced a divide between the
athletes, and eventually started a war in the NSA. The constant struggle limited the athletes
opportunities and stalled preparations for competitions. By the time the conflict had been resolved, it
was already too late: there wasn t enough time to train these athletes properly. In the end, they weren t

According to Keller (2002), work due to sin can become an idol, pointless, fruitless, lead to alienation,
and lead one to seek and to identify with their status or position, a job can bring them in the present
life; however, that is not how work is meant to be but rather allow one to use their gifts and abilities
while remaining in their own capacities, use work to benefit others and their field of work, and to
bring about joy and happiness that one is living out their destiny. The way one views work has the
ability to change their whole life since one was meant to work in the first place. Despite that
businesses are able to contribute to the redemptive plan all the way down to the operation of the
organization.
According to Grudem (2003), all work that is done should be used to glorify God as its end result,
some of the examples of this would be giving, preserving resources, using profits to help benefit
society as a whole, not taking advantage of others, and et cetera. Businesses are able to participate by
operating in a manner that is ethical, demonstrating corporate social responsibility, operating by the
guidelines given within the Scripture while following laws and regulations, treating employees and
stakeholders with the respect that they deserve while not taking advantage of them, taking
responsibilities for any wrong misconduct or accidents that occur while providing a solution to

Just one more hour... just one more, I remember saying to myself as I watched the clock tick by tick,

There was no clouds in the sky and it was hot. When I got home my mom said are you ready Yes I can

cute. I walked into the kitchen where my mom had to put safety pins in it because it was so big It felt
like I was gonna take a trip down the stairs. After a while I was so excited I couldn t stand it, it got to a
point where I started annoying my mom asking her if it was time yet. When she was ready I ran to the
suburban. I sat all the way in the back because I loved the back it was my favorite spot. On our way
there I sat in my car seat waiting to get to the court house it took us about two minutes to get there but
it felt like hours. I got out of the suburban and waited for everyone to get out, when everyone was

Rmk Influence On German Culture
With this concept in mind, the Kampfbund für deutsche Kultur, or the Militant League for German
Culture, was created in 1929. Originally headed by Alfred Rosenburg, the Nazis took over the
institution when Hitler rose to power and it became known as the Reichskulturkammer in 1933. The
RKK was created to combat cultural influence that did not further Germanness . A division of the
RKK became known as the Reichsmusikammer, or the RMK, that was used to censor music all
throughout Germany. The only problem with the RMK was that it was entirely run by men with
almost no musical background. It can be agreed that all Germans were very fond of music and its
impact on the soul, but not all took the time to learn how to create and play music. The first of many
cultural restrictions targeted music specifically and crippled the creation of music in German society.

The Dangers of Carbon Dioxide
Thesis: As the environment encounters damage from increasing levels of carbon dioxide, actions on
both governmental and individual levels need to be implemented in order to protect the welfare of
future life.
Introduction
In an era of rising technology and increasing population, demands on the environment are continually
being pushed to new levels. As a result, it becomes important for us to expand our knowledge about
the environment and take appropriate actions to protect this element of most importance to human
existence. One component of our environment experiencing some of the greatest abuse due to humans

Some of the major greenhouse gases excluding water vapor are: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous
oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons. Of these, CO2 is the most important because of the vast amount
released by human activity. Before the Industrial Revolution, atmospheric concentrations of carbon
dioxide was 280 ppm; it has now risen to a level of 360 ppm today with an annual increase of 2 ppm
(Rising Carbon, 1992).
There are various consequences that may arise if significant global warming begins to take effect.
Some scientists believe that over the next 50 years, global temperatures could rise by as much as 1.5
4.5 degrees Celsius worldwide (Climate Change, 1997). Many speculate that this increase in
temperatures could produce profound, if not devastating effects to our environment and ourselves.
Already, many scientists are attributing some of the severe weather around the world such as
hurricanes, floods, and droughts to global warming (Bernard, 1993). The high latitude regions are
likely to have the largest temperature change, while regions such as the North American Great Plains
are predicted to feel a large decrease in precipitation (Climate Change, 1997). In regions with a
lowered precipitation rate, agriculture would suffer, potentially causing severe economic and food
shortage problems. Numerous species of plants and animals could also suffer, causing permanent
damage to ecosystems and biodiversity. It is also thought that because of

Alison Of Bath Antifeminism
Madeline Daigle
ENG 150 008
Alexandria Krause
Oct 20th 2017
Themes of Antifeminism in Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Chaucer s The Wife of Bath s Prologue and Tale in The Canterbury Tales appears to be an illustration
of feminism, one that showcases a female character s progression in power in a primarily patriarchal
society. However, beneath the simplistic plot of women s empowerment, lies underlying themes of
antifeminism in the character, Alison of Bath. Alison endorses the misogynistic role which she is
fighting against with the objectification of her own body, her misinterpreted dictations of religion, and
her fascination of sovereignty and dominance. Although Alison sees herself as a feminist, it is unlikely
that men in the middle ages saw her the same way. She embodies the stereotypes of women in
medieval literature; lustful, irrational, domineering, and a danger to a man s salvation. Throughout the
prologue and the tale, there are inconsistencies with what Alison preaches and how she behaves. That
leads to the question, is Chaucer the forward minded feminist he is often depicted as, or is Alison of
Bath a mockery of the ideals of feminism and an illustration of what men thought of women at the
time?
The Wife of Bath is a notable, sexually forward character in The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer describes
her facial features and body as sexually suggestive. In the General Prologue, Alison s physical
appearance is thoroughly described; feet, legs, hips, and expensively dyed clothing. However, Alison s
most note worthy physical trait would be her gap tooth. The General Prologue reads, Gat tothed was
she, smoothly for to seye (468). The translation of this would be that her teeth were widely spread; the
supposed sign of Venus the goddess of love. Being gap toothed in the Middle Ages was regarded as a
sign of a strongly sexed nature, one of The Wife of Bath s character traits. Alison s strongly sexed
nature is also shown through her own frequent exploitation of her body to manipulate her husbands
into consenting their property and money to her jurisdiction. In the Prologue to The Wife of Bath s
Tale, Alison boasts about said manipulation when she says:
As help me God, I laughe whan I thinke

Sample Naturalistic Observation Papers
On Friday, February 10th, 2017 I did a naturalistic observation with the intent to observe gender
dynamics unfold in a specific setting. I attended a party on Friday night and observed for
approximately 2 hours. The setting was a lingerie party at Gaia s Cradle.
Gaia s Cradle is a living learning community at Northland, located next to the CSE building, in a
historical two story home with six students residing. It is a learning community dedicated to gender,
women s, and sexuality studies. Gaia s regularly holds educational events, and always offers free
condoms and dental dams for anyone who needs/wants. As a setting, Gaia s is an extremely open,
accepting, and diverse place. For the party, he house was decorated with art made from a previous
event this week, photos of people with their bodies painted, and various lingerie (bras, stockings)
hanging from the ceiling. The lights were off, but there was mood lighting, fairy lights and black
lights. Dance music was playing loudly from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men at the party only drank beer, while playing beer pong. The beer was in bottles, cans, or in the
red solo cups from the game. The women at the party either took shots together, or brought their own
wine or mixed drinks in water bottles. I believe many women brought their own drinks for safety
reasons. College, especially college parties, can be a very dangerous place for women. Rates of sexual
assault are extremely high on college campuses. These women likely mixed and brought their own
drinks so they would know they aren t getting drugged. The men weren t worried about being drugged
by drinking open solo cups of beer that were setting out in public. This is an example of male
privilege. The men at the party didn t need to worry about being drugged and possibly assaulted
because the overwhelming majority of assaults are committed by men and the victims are

  • 2. Best Friends For Life Essay Best Friends for Life By: Marellus Sawyer Morgan? You asleep? Dallas asked me while looking ahead at the road. I was laying back in my seat, staring out the passenger window at the trees whizzing by. It was a hot summer night and we had driven down to Detroit to watch a Tigers game. We were headed north to home, almost a 4.5 hour drive. I m not sure why I didn t answer him. I pretended to be asleep and looked out the window, lost in my thoughts. Dallas turned up the radio a bit and sang along off key to The Fray. Dallas is my best friend. I owed everything to him. When I moved next door to him when I was 10 years old, we became instant best friends. I hung out with the popular crowd at school because of him. I made the baseball team ... We were both about the same height, me at 6 0 and him at 6 1 . He had about 10 pounds of muscle on me, but we were both built similarly. We could even share clothes if we wanted. I had blue eyes and dark blond hair, but I kept my hair buzzed pretty short. When we passed a sign that said REST AREA: 2 MILES , Dallas muttered Oh, man. Thank God. I gotta piss so fucking bad. I looked around and there was no one around. It was pretty late, after midnight. There were a few semi trucks parked on the truck side of the parking lot, but otherwise it was deserted. It was dark and kind of scary and it freaked me out a little bit. Dallas was unzipping his shorts as soon as we were in the restroom. He made a beeline for the last stall and I took the one next to him. I could hear him loudly pissing into the bowl. I pulled out my dick and let loose my own stream. Fuck, that feels good! Dallas shouted over the stall wall. I tried not to think about Dallas next door with his dick in his hand. Genetic Counseling Paper Genetic Counseling According to Berger (2014), a patient can receive genetic counseling to learn more about a condition/disease he or she may possibly be at risk for and may possibly pass onto their children (p. 88). A genetic counselor is educated and trained to describe to the patient the condition/disease, the benefits and drawbacks for taking the genetic test, the test results meaning, and how having the condition could affect their future children (Berger, 2014, p. 88). Then, the patient not the genetic counselor makes decisions about his or her next steps with respect to all the information they have been provided by the genetic counselor (Berger, 2014, p. 89). That is the kind of life both Balram and Victor lived throughout their lives. In The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, the main character Balram experienced excessive discrimination because of his background. People like him who came from extreme poverty are treated like animals because of the caste system that people in India follows as some form of tradition. On the other hand, Victor, from The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight From Heaven by Sherman Alexie, he witnesses the tragic lifestyle of native americans in the reservation and after leaving the reservation, he also experienced discrimination because of the stereotypes against the native americans. The marginalization Balram accustomed in the caste system of India and Victor experienced outside of the reservation and within the community of the reservation caused them to escape from their own lives and hope for a better reality. Both Balram and Victor thinks that the culture that they lived throughout the most part of their life is completely dysfunctional and that thought made them eager to attain the outside culture. The life that Victor witnessed in the reservation and Balram witnessed in his village proved the society they live in is flawed. All of these programs CSI, Lie to Me, Numb3rs, Law Order have the same general set up of a male lead with a hot head who is complemented by his team of FBI agents. As a loyal viewer and fan of Bones, I often wonder what makes it stay afloat with so many shows out there like it. Could it be that Bones isn t like any of the other crime shows? Through its crimes and unsolved murders, Bones helps its viewers make sense of the disastrous world around them. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and as we have seen in the most recent season, Booth has accepted his feelings for Brennan and, in the early episodes of season five, has been trying to tell her how he feels. In the real world, many crimes remain unsolved, but in Bones every murder is solved and the killer is brought to justice. As Letizia, the author of a TV review entitled Bones , asserts, fans root not just for crimes to be solved, but for [Booth and Brennan], working in tandem, to solve them. The viewer begins to trust these two characters and think of them as real people they have let into their lives. Another difference, pointed out by Letizia, that Bones offers is Where an episode of CSI leaves one with the feeling that evil exists no matter what we do about it, Bones makes the case that there is also good. • 6. Using Lies to Define Morality of Characters in Adventures... Mark Twain once said, Lie an abomination before the Lord and an ever present help in time of trouble. Twain s description of deceit gives it a type of double meaning. This idea of lying being used for good as well as evil is not unheard of. Many time people find it necessary to lie to maintain a greater good or save a life. However, all too often, people lie for self serving, immoral purposes. In this quote, Twain elegantly shows the delicate balance between good and evil in the performance of the same act. Furthermore, Twain also shows this complex thought in his portrayal of characters in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Then Mary Jane she fetched the letter her father left behind, and the king he read it out loud and cried over it? (ch. 25, 139). Here Twain displays the Kings contrived attempt of remorse over the death of his so called brother, his conscience unaffected . These hollow signs of emotion portray the two men?s cold response to a man?s death, as they attempt to profit off of his passing. Similarly, in another instance, ? one of them got on one side of the coffin, and t?other on t?other side, and they kneeled down and rested their foreheads on the coffin, and let on to pray all to theirselves?I never see anything so disgusting? In this situation, the two crooks play off of the sympathy of others so that they might better pry them for money, an act properly referred to by Huck as ?disgusting? (ch. 25, 138). • 10. An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem, I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to hear more about the purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can make yourself an angel by just lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe winter as a place where angels are made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you. The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death. Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was saying, so that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean sun is what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile adds to the poem s meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is warmth in her home in the Caribbean. There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what the author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives in the Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again before the cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian belief that when you die you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was in pursuit of a better life for herself and her family and wanted to escape the growing linguistic and cultural intolerance of Quebec society. The late 1960 s and early 1970 s in Canada was a time of political upheaval, especially in Quebec, with the rise of the separatist/ liberation movement. The Front de Liberation du Quebec (FLQ) gained popularity by expressing the outwardly harmless goal of Quebec independence from Canada and the creation of a French workers society. But the FLQ attempted to achieve this goal through acts of domestic terrorism, such as planting bombs in Canadian federal institutions like mailboxes, and creating mass hysteria, especially in English communities. By doing this, the FLQ managed to even further separate the French and English in Quebec. A Problem for the Aviation Industry Essay Section 217: A Problem for the Aviation Industry On a cold February evening in 2009, just outside the city of Buffalo, New York, two pilots crashed a new aircraft on final approach to land into Buffalo Niagara International Airport. In an effort to prevent an accident of a similar nature from happening, the U.S. Congress passed H.R. 5900, the Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act. This bill under Title II was aimed to enhance airline safety and in part prevent an accident of this nature from occurring again (U.S. House 2010). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Asia s economy is booming and this has resulted in the growth of many startup carriers that offer tax free salaries and free housing for pilots with less than 1500 hours a very attractive opportunity. This may cause a potential migration of pilots that would lead to many U.S. airlines having planes but no one qualified to fly them. Further contributing to the shortage is that the cost to become a pilot is already expensive, causing low interest in the field; this law would make it even worse. By calculation, if a potential pilot were to start today, he would probably be facing a debt of between $50,000 and $80,000 just to receive the flight training required to gain 250 hours (Chatterjee). Added to this is the cost of attending a college with an accredited program. Potential pilots could be looking at paying well over $200,000 in loans to be able to fly. Before this law passed, pilots were assured that if they worked hard and passed through all the training received from college and flight school they would be able to become a pilot with one of the regional carriers and make a small salary while obtaining the required hours for one of the major carriers. Now, even this option has been taken away by the government because of the new hour requirement. Many pilots will have to look for work at their local airport for two or even three years without a steady pay in order to get a job which will only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The big problem with divorce is that each person continues on in life to marry a creature with the exact same flaws as the previous one. Some, however, declare war on the whole opposite sex, and end their lives lonely and confused as to why they are lonely. In his book, Tender Warrior, Stu Weber refers to a poem recently written by a woman struggling with these issues: Life in a Tomb The emptiness of 20+ years. The loss of hope. According to Aristotle the three most important variables that define a tragedy are plot, characters, and theme. Using Oedipus Rex as a sort of ideal, this philosopher demonstrates how a tragedy functions in order to evoke catharsis while exploring themes and human flaws, or mistakes. In Oedipus Rex, the main figure, Oedipus the King is a subject of fate, unable to escape himself and his desire to uncover the truth. In essence, this drama demonstrates the fall of a prominent figure brought down by his inescapable fortune and self destruction. Once Teddy becomes aware of these truths his character, his status as a U.S. Martial, evaporates as he contemplates his history and loss. Likewise, Oedipus search for the true murder of Laius eventually reveals that he in fact murdered the former King. Once Oedipus becomes aware of this fact his whole persona and world unravel as further truths become inherently evident. He must face the reality that destiny drove the outcome of his life; and his inability to heed the advice of Jocasta, his wife and mother, who pleads In God s name I beg you no.3 results in his fall from greatness and virtue. These two stories therefore illustrate the climax in manners described by Aristotle who argues, The middle, or climax, must be caused by earlier incidents and itself cause the incidents that follow.4 Granted, this element seems characteristic of drama in general, the onset of conflict eventually elicits the apex of action. However, the events that follow the climax allow tragedy to separate from other sects of fiction. The dénouement of Shutter Island demonstrates the aspect of unraveling, or even entropy, which Aristotle discusses. The RKK was created to combat cultural influence that did not further Germanness . A division of the RKK became known as the Reichsmusikammer, or the RMK, that was used to censor music all throughout Germany. The only problem with the RMK was that it was entirely run by men with almost no musical background. • 33. Alison Of Bath Antifeminism Madeline Daigle ENG 150 008 Alexandria Krause Oct 20th 2017 Themes of Antifeminism in Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Chaucer s The Wife of Bath s Prologue and Tale in The Canterbury Tales appears to be an illustration of feminism, one that showcases a female character s progression in power in a primarily patriarchal society. However, beneath the simplistic plot of women s empowerment, lies underlying themes of antifeminism in the character, Alison of Bath. Alison endorses the misogynistic role which she is fighting against with the objectification of her own body, her misinterpreted dictations of religion, and her fascination of sovereignty and dominance. Although Alison sees herself as a feminist, it is unlikely that men in the middle ages saw her the same way. She embodies the stereotypes of women in medieval literature; lustful, irrational, domineering, and a danger to a man s salvation. Throughout the prologue and the tale, there are inconsistencies with what Alison preaches and how she behaves. That leads to the question, is Chaucer the forward minded feminist he is often depicted as, or is Alison of Bath a mockery of the ideals of feminism and an illustration of what men thought of women at the time? The Wife of Bath is a notable, sexually forward character in The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer describes her facial features and body as sexually suggestive. In the General Prologue, Alison s physical appearance is thoroughly described; feet, legs, hips, and expensively dyed clothing. However, Alison s most note worthy physical trait would be her gap tooth. The General Prologue reads, Gat tothed was she, smoothly for to seye (468). The translation of this would be that her teeth were widely spread; the supposed sign of Venus the goddess of love. Being gap toothed in the Middle Ages was regarded as a sign of a strongly sexed nature, one of The Wife of Bath s character traits. Alison s strongly sexed nature is also shown through her own frequent exploitation of her body to manipulate her husbands into consenting their property and money to her jurisdiction. In the Prologue to The Wife of Bath s Tale, Alison boasts about said manipulation when she says: As help me God, I laughe whan I thinke How ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
