3.  FINISHING
DEPARTMENT
IN THE APPAREL MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY, FINISHING
DEPARTMENT PLAY THE VITAL ROLE FOR PRODUCING COMPLETE
GARMENTS. AFTER COMPLETING THE SEWING PERFORMANCE,
GARMENTS ARE PASSING TO THE FINISHING SECTION /
DEPARTMENT TO GET THE FINISHING TOUCH, DEFECTS FREE AND
HIGH QUALITY GARMENT DUE TO INSPECTION.

4. Major Functions of Garments Finishing:
There are 4 major Functions of garments
finish are as follow:
 Washing
 Checking
 Pressing
 Packing.

5.  Once garments out from sewing machine first step we take
generally which is wasing To wash bulk garment we follow
the Buyer comments, we wash the garments as per Buyer
requirement like if they want Normal wash then we do the
same using only water. If Buyer needs soft hand feel or
chemical wash on a garment then we use chemical during
washing.

6. Garments Checking:
• After washing 2nd function is checking, once garments come
from the washing department for checking department then a
team starts to check garments, whether stitching is properly done
or is there any spots on the garment. If they find any spot they
remove it using chemicals and if there is a major stitching
problem they return back it to sewing department to rectify the
same.

7.  Garments Packing:
 The last function is packing buy before start packing QA
team check the measurements of garment, whether it’s OK
or not, so that they can be sure garments will pass during
final inspection. After measurements required accessories
like tag, alarm or sticker to be used during
individual packing. When packing done those packed
garments to be packaged in a carton as per Buyer
instructions and its ready for final inspection to dispatch.

8. Garments Pressing:
 Now the 3rd function is pressing (Ironing) once garment
comes to pressing department pressmen start pressing
following required measurements and Buyer comments. If
Buyer needs hard press, flat or light steam press accordingly
pressing done by pressmen.

10.  Work procedure of finishing section in
apparel industry:
 Finishing input: (color, size & style wise): In this stage, body
come from sewing section by way of per color, style or size to
finishing section as a input.
 Thread Sucking: Here finishing input is brought in touch of
thread sucking machine to remove loose thread from the body.
 Initial Iron: In this stage, garments are being ironed and close
all the button of the garments for helping further step easier

11.  Quality Check: Here body is inspected by a quality inspection to
check if there any swing, washing, or any other faults exist in the
garments. If found, the garments are send to the repair section or
defective garments are declared as reject. Here 100% quality check
is done.
 Sends body to get Up change: In this
stage, an inspector ensure the garments
get up is okay or not.
 Body inspection: An inspection randomly
inspection some number of garments to
ensure measurement is correct or not, quality
checking has been done properly or not, initial
ironing as per requirements or not.

12.  Iron: Here, garments are ironed properly for folding as per
buyer’s requirements.
 Folding: After the ironing of the garments, the garments are
being folded in the way buyer direction.
 Accessories Attachment: Here, accessories like hang tag,
security tag, collar stand, butter fly etc. are attached before poly
the garments.

13.  Cartooning: According to the packing list, after being poly the
garments, garments are being cartooned for shipment.
 Final inspection: In this stage, buyer’s represent inspect the
garments based on AQL label to ensure the garments are as per
spec sheet or not,
 Shipment: Garments
inspection is passed the
garments are ready for
shipment.
 Poly: In this stage garments are being poly to protect the
garments from dust as well as to ensure the garments be safe in
the cartoon.
