 A home security system is a network of devices that all work together to
secure your home.
 IoT
 It describes the network of physical objects – “things”, embedded with
sensors and software for the purpose of exchanging data over the

Introduction - Objectives
 The primary objective of the project is to design and develop a Low-Cost IoT-
Based Home Security System using Computer Vision.
 In this regard, the specific project objectives are as follow:
 Door Lock/Unlock
 RFID-based In-door Access Control
 Outerwall Security
 Fire Alarm System
 Power Monitoring

Literature Review
 The design of smart home using raspberry pi and computer vision technique is proposed
in [1]. However, due to the usage of raspberry pi, its a costly project.
 A three-layer security system with first step as RFID matching, second as password
detection and then a face detection model for recognizing the authorized and
unauthorized person is discussed in [2].
 A controller (MyRIO 1900 Controller) has been programed as per the requirement for
face detection. Personal computer easily used to display the output using LabVIEW. One
of the disadvantages of this technique is that, it is based on MyRIO module, which is very
costly [3].

 In future, we can further reduce the cost of our framework by using
cheaper microcontroller instead of an Arduino
 We can install CCTV camera to capture any intrusion when detected
 Additionally we can extend our model framework as we can likewise
control Water pumps, Irrigation framework for house yards, Swimming
pool water changing framework

Conclusion: Impact on Society
System is developed to integrate different facilities such as Security,
Automation and Power Monitoring using IoT, Arduino and computer vision.
Impact on Society:
 This project helps people to conveniently protect their home, family and
belongings.
 It’ll help reduce crime rate (robbery, burglary etc.).
 We can save money and electricity.
