MADchesters back the boys who are bringing
music back to Manchester!
We’ve got a treat for you now an exclusive interview with up and coming music producers T.W
productions, the two young lads Alex Ward from Manchester have just hit number 1 on the charts
with their single ‘Last Words ft. Rihanna’and with the boys planning analbum it’s been ahuge year
for the 18 year olds. We sent chief Reporter Larry West to catch up with them in their Manchester
Studio.
So Alex and Owen it’s been a mad year for you two hasn’t it?
Yes it's been a good year so far, finally getting our foot into the music industry, something we both
have wanted to do for years separately growing up and now we have established our own music
together were like an unstoppable forcehaha. I mean we started this year coming into the studio just
learning every day you know, picking up things , and now we finally got our hands and our minds on
what exactly we want to do and what type of sound we are looking to create each day , it really
makes our life's good, you know what I mean, being able to come to 'work' and doing something
that you really enjoy doing, it's not even work to us anymore it's just life, we like to live the music if
you know what I mean haha
How does it feel to reach Number one with your first single ‘last words’?
Yes it's feels amazing, to have a track at the number one position in the charts that had been
produced by us. I mean it was crazy when Rihanna said she liked it and was interested in
collaborating with us! We couldn’t believe it and thought it was a hoax at first haha. When people
listen to music they automatically assume that the artist singing makes everything but it was a nice
touch from them to put our name on the song and get the name out there. It's great to know people
are recognising just the singer but also the producers as we mix the whole track and record it , we
have to make everything perfect, the vocalists can leave the studio after their vocals are down and
we can be in there for hours even days perfecting the track adding new things, and some people
who make it to number one cannot even write the lyrics themselves and they could have loads of
producers who don’t get the recognition they deserve .Now we have set a goal for ourselves we now
have to be better than that we have to surpass that. We’ve set a standard now , people are going to
expect better from us each time, so we hope to carry on making good music and to also learn from
others people's music.
2. You’ve got an Album coming out if I’m correct?
The Album, well we've been working recently producing with a few well known artists on their work
and they’ve helped us with producing our Album. So we've been helping them get the right sounds,
we usually do hip hop record but this is RnB, so it's really given us a chance to learn about other
genres of music and how we can improve ours, the album name 'unknown' I really like that title
because it’s basically describes what we are and where we have been at , I mean everyone starts off
unknown don't they, and you get more attention the more you do and the more work you put into
it, and we've been working so hard, And to have gone from 'unknown' to known it's good it's great
feeling, so the tittle of the album is a good way of describing what we've been through so far, and I
mean we're still young and relatively unknown. The albums still not complete and were hoping to
work with some more big named artists on finishing it so we hope to get it realised towards the end
of the year.
Who inspires you?
Who inspires us? For us I think Bob Marley and Michael Jackson have been be our biggest
inspiration, just because of everything they achieved in the life and bob was able to start a whole
worldwide movement an really make history and he’s still affecting people today, also other
producers just making great music you know, like drakes producers Noah '40' Shebib. I think he's a
great producers and the distinct sound he has it inspires us to stay original and do what we thinks
right you know, also a big inspiration is Jamie XX who produces the XX he's an amazing producer and
also a performer because he's a mixer on stage as well and I think being able to do both is a great
talent, and also him being English it inspires us because if he can be so successful why can't we?
Touring with someone?
Yes that’s correct were going on a tour soon with an artist who's up and coming, basically just still
going to be working 24/7, take our laptops or microphones just carry on making basic beats but
were looking forward to it, it's going to be good, experiencing different places and because of music
you know music is what brought us this far and what's hopefully going to keep taking us further.
Hopefully people will remember us from his tour and get our name out there more.
Talk us through the day?
Ahh this is a tough question! Well depending on where were at! it's usually wake up early, get a
positive vibe maybe some inspiration from other music, and if we're starting from scratch just a
basic beat but I mean we could be listening to old songs looking for a perfect sample and just
experimenting with different sounds for days you know, then later on in the day we would usually
have an artist come to the either the home studio or the big studio and we will start recording , just
making everything's perfect until they can go, and then we start mixing an perfecting everything
ourselves for hours after they have gone, really putting the hard work in to get the right sound were
looking. And if it’s just is then we can be in the studio till like 5am just getting into our zone and wing
completely focused on what we’re doing, you'd be surprised how fast time goes in the studio, and
when the jobs done we can leave, and come back the next day to pick up where we left off.
3. Next year?
Ye next year we have some big things planned, just more music and collaborating with more artists
and just getting better and better, also have a few more albums we've been producing on coming
out next year some big records but I can’t say too much about that at the moment, but yes erm just
to keep doing what we’re doing, being successful producers.
To the fans?
Just thanks for everything just thanks for the support because we've really got more attention from
people and then that leads to artists getting in contact with us wishing to collaborate, so the fans are
kind of between us and the artists sometimes you know .It’s amazing seeing people tweeting us daily
saying they love our work and I wish we had the time to reply to them all. I just want to say thank
you to the people who believe in us and keep listening
Thanks a lot that was a good interview, well catch up some more later on in the year…
