Band interview
1. Band Interview.
Where did the name Unfocused Rose come from?
Well we bothactually share the same middle name, Rose sothatwas inevitable. Andwe’re notperfect, we
like the factthat we can just play forthe joy of it and sometimes we getgoodmusicfromit.Musicis never
100% polished andthat’sjusthow we are, unpolished butenjoy-able.
How long have you been playing together?
Well it was sort of an accident. Since we were 13/14 we both loved to sing, we would sing alone
and together all the time and it just gradually went form there. We’d sit about messing around on
guitars and pianos singing songs we loved and we just realised that maybe we could make it a
regular this.
What inspired you to write your new single, ‘Today’?
N: Us. We’ve been writing and playing for so long and now all that hard work is seriously paying off
I mean we’re the font page article in Bassline, always been a dream for us, for any musician and
we’re here, we made it. We want the world to know we’ve worked so hard for this. Even when
labels knocked us back we carried on, we never gave up. We need people to know that they
shouldn’t give up.
S: Whatever you’re doing right now, Today matters.
What does it feel like to play in front of thousands of people?
N: Surreal.
S: We’ve always played gigs but only recently have we got this big following and singing in front of
thousands of people is the most incredible feeling but yes, it’s not sunk in yet, I don’t think it ever
will really. Each and every show is different and amazing in it’s own way.
What’s next?
S: Tour, we’re going off around the Uk and Europe starting next month.
N: It’s going to be so much fun, we’ve been in the studio working hard on our music recently and
now we get to travel all over the place and show people what we’ve got to say.
You’re playing a lot of festivals this year, which are you most excited for?
S: No doubt about it, Glastonbury. Who wouldn’t be excited to play that crowd, I’m ecstatic that I’m
going to be attending let alone playing it.
N: Glastonbury is going to be incredible, as long as we don’t screw up, but I’m excited to play
Latitude actually. I’ve been to the festival multiple times and you always wish that you’re on the
other side of the barrier and this year we will be.
You’re album’s out on 13th April, how does it feel to be able to say that.
N: Incredible, I never would’ve believed we could say that, we started off playing in our living
rooms, sometimes recording in our bedrooms and now we’ve been in a state of the art studio
working with some amazing producers helping us get our first album together.
