The hot new artist to hit the music industry tells all. Leah Shannon tells VIBEALIVE about her
new found fame and how she is star struck on how fast her new hit ‘Love Me Now’ is the
current Number one in Britain right now.
Leah Shannon is a brand new artist to hit the pop world with her debut album ‘1’ which flew
straight to Number one last week. She climbed to number 1 also with her debut single ‘Love Me
Now’ which already seems like a long lasting chart topper. Leah began her music career at a
young age of 8 when she discovered her love for performing, ever since she has thrived for a
number one album in Britain. She began music classes on her 10th birthday and has been working
her hardest to make her dream come true. Her dream has now become a reality. Magazines
already say she is Britain’s new pop princess. Leah is currently getting ready to release her
European Arena tour dates for 2013 which already seems like a sell-out arena tour.
Leah is up against some of the most influential talents in Britain at the BRIT Awards later this
year although she is a newcomer, the industry has taken a keen eye for Leah and believes she will
be an astonishing success in the future of music. Amplified magazine describes Leah as a ‘Fresh
new look with a voice of an angel’. Q Magazine also describes her as a ‘world class standard’.
Leah, Congratulations on your Number One, how are you feeling?
LS: Thanks, yeah so happy about the Number One. Never in a million years did I think it would
happen. I never thought this would happen to a girl like me [uncontrollably smiling.
We never doubted you for a minute your album is great. Where did you get the
inspiration for your songs on the album?
LS: Well as you know I write all my own lyrics and music and I don’t know really. I just sit there
and the lyrics just come to me, it takes me a while to come up with the lyrics but eventually I get
there. Making my fans happy with my songs is all I want, they are too thank for my Number one.
You started singing at a really young age, did you always realise your passion for
singing?
LS: Yeah I think so, like I would always sing in the shower and it just expanded from there really.
I've always enjoyed singing to my mum and she was the one who encouraged me to take it on,
she's the reason I'm here now I suppose. I have only my mum to thank for.
Its unbelievable how fast your career has expanded, last year you was uploading videos
onto YouTube and now your Number One in the UK. Do you find it hard to believe how
much your life has changed over the past year?
LS: Yeah its crazy! I have to pinch myself because I think its all just a dream. This time last year
I would have never of thought I would be here now with my debut album out. I would have
never thought it. It truly is hard to believe but I will never change who I am because of a bit of
fame I will always be me. Nothing will ever change.

So, you're getting ready to announce your Arena tour. How excited are you? Its a major
deal.
LS: Excited isn't the word. It is an absolutely amazing feeling to perform in front of my fans.
I hope to be at the concert also. Are you going to give us a guess of who is your
performing artist?
LS: Sadly I can't tell, but it is very exciting you'll just have to wait and see! But trust me it is one
to wait for.
'Love Me Now' is currently number 1 in the UK and Ireland. What was your reaction
when you found out?
LS: I couldn't believe it. I thought everybody was joking, never in a million years would I
thought I would have a number one. Never. Its just amazing to think that people are out there
buying my song. I've never been more happy in my life, I screamed my house down. It was one

2. to celebrate as well, I went out for a meal with close friends and family. They've been with me
from the start so their just as happy as I am.
Have you made any new celebrity friends in the past year?
LS: Hmm no not really, like I've met a few people and I was starstruck! (laughs)
