Music Magazine Survey result 1
Asuka Young
These are the results gained from my survey- I gained answers from 14 people, and there
were: 10 females & 4 males. Which are a little unbalanced, but their ages are varied too, 4
people being the age of 10 - 18, one person between 27 - 35, another between 38 - 44, and
two people aged 45 or more.

The numbers here indicate how many votes went for these sell lines- the most
popular one was ‘AC/DC alternating directly this winter!’. This indicates that a
dramatic event which includes famous bands, with a pun that relates to the band
in some form can be appealing to audiences who likes Rock genre:

This pie chart shows the most ticked magazine offers. The most popular ones were chances
to win tickets- therefore in my magazine, I will include something about seeing music artists
live. As you can see on the other offers, chances to meet a star in person was also appealing
to audiences.(-The numbers below indicate the numbers of common votes):

Q6- Suggestions
Two audiences left a comment with suggestions:
-Guess Who’s back!
-(Anything that includes good ideas).
The above suggestions has informed me that an element of surprise or a mystery can
be effective as a sell line.

wanted to be on the magazine

Conclusion
Overall from this survey, the results had no set patterns and was scattered, but there were some
common results which gave me a lot of ideas about what I would want to include in my magazine
cover. For example, I may include information about Rock music that is associated with Pop /
other genres of music (Eg: Punk rock). However, as the most popular main image was a figure
image of one person, this may become impossible. I will definitely mention concert information,
such as a chance to meet a Rock star, cheap or limited tour tickets..etc. Also the layout should
include the colour theme of red / bright colours combined with black and white, and aim to be
imaginative about the main image, and have a clear/unique house style too (Like Kerrang, where
the font styles are quite bold / cracked and having a large, medium shot model. I will exaggerate
the sell lines a little in order for it to be appealing to my original target audience (teens especially).
The reasons for the possible exaggeration / word puns are described above.
I have realised also, that the audiences are looking for something that differentiates from the other
same types of Rock magazines. For example, the information about ‘free’ items, or about a
chance to meet someone is not very mentioned in magazines so often, I may be able to step into
this, to offer something that the other magazines won’t.
