For his pilot episode filming, the document outlines the equipment that will be used which includes: 1) A Sony DCR-VX2200 camera which will be the main filming camera and allows for adjusting depth of field and focus. 2) A tripod and dolly system to achieve stable shots and prevent camera shake as well as allow movement. 3) Two main light sources - portable LED lights that attach to the camera and stationary plug-in lights to provide continuous lighting in specific spots.

1. Filming equipment
For the purpose of filming my pilot episode I plan on using a variety of different pieces of
equipment in order to achieve a final working product.
Firstly I will be using a DCR-VX2200 Sony camera which I will be borrowing from college for the
duration of the entire project as this will be my main film camera. I decided to use this camera
as appose to my other cameras at home because I wish to capture a detailed final piece but also
this camera unlike the others I have access to allows me to change the depth of field and focus
meaning that I can achieve more effects and looks about my scenes.
As well as this I will be using a tripod and dolly system in order to achieve firstly stable shots
and prevent camera shake and secondly to allow me to apply some movement for scenes such
as when characters are being filmed walking down corridors. The dolly and tripod will be used
throughout the entire process of filming and for nearly every shot that I have planned as it’ll
provide a stable surface so that I don’t have to worry about holding the camera while focusing
on my surroundings in case the camera is knocked or caught by something. For lighting I will be
using two main sources of light, one stationary and one portable. The portable lights will be LED
attachable lights that I will be able to slide onto my camera while the stationary lights will be
plugged and positioned in a specific spot so that once they are set up we will be able to film in a
certain spot with a continuous supply of light for filming.
I have been considering also hiring a boom pole in order to assist with capturing high quality
audio but due to the low budget that I am working with along with the fact that all the
equipment listed so far I already own, it is unlikely that I will be able to hire or purchase one in
time for the production. The Sony camera that I will be using has an external microphone built
into it but it has rather poor quality and often captures a lot of surround sound if I am working
in a busy environment.
