Film proposal (Tightrope).
1. Film Synopsis
The horror genre is one of the most popular filmgenres in the world because it makes the
audience scared and on edge at all times. For my film, I’m heavy influence by the 1974
horror filmThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre as my films setting is based in a building in the
middle of nowhere by instead of a cannibalistic family, I have only one sadistic kidnapper.
2. The Logline
The plot of the fil is going to be about a girl who gets kidnapped by this man and she gets
taken to an abandoned building in the middle of nowhere and she has to find a way out of
the building before something bad happens to her. The filmis called Tightrope. The reason
why it’s called tightrope is because this filmis also a thriller. I wanted the film to also be a
thriller.
3. Screenplay Structure
Act 1: The Kidnap: Amy gets ready to leave college and then she gets kidnapped.
Act 2: The Plan To Escape: Amy finds out that she has been kidnaped and trapped and she
starts to create a plan to escaped before something terrible happens to her.
Act 3: The Escape: Amy successfully fights off the kidnapper and escaped the building.
4. Characters
Amy is a very soft and smart girl at the start of the filmand when she gets kidnaped and
trapped in the abandoned building, she learners that she need to toughen up and fight back
in order to escape. At the end of the film, Amy will be someone who is now able to stand up
for herself and she is now ready for anything.
The kidnapper is a cold and apathetic man who will does not care about anything. He likes
to see people suffer.
Mia is Amy’s best friend and she is one who Amy is talking to on facetime when she gets
kidnaped.
The 2 police officers appear at the end of the film when they arrest the kidnapper.
5. Film Treatment
Amy age one of the quiet girls in her college class. She has always been too scared to ask for
help in class and she could never defend herself when she’s is getting pick on. After the
college day is over, she is facetiming her best friend while walking home that is when she
Film proposal (Tightrope).
gets kidnapped. She drops her phone while her friend is still on the phone as she starts
pancaking and wondering what happened to her.
When she wakes up in the abandoned building, she sees her kidnapper opposite her holding
a baseball bat and threatening to kill her if she ties to escape. She is tied up with some rope
so she can’t escape. At this point in the filmwe see that Amy is starting to change, she starts
to be more brave as she tries to figure out how to escape. She waits for the kidnapper to
untie he ready to kill her. She remembers that he left the bat in the corner and as the reach
near the corner, she goes for the bat and hits him over the bat and knocks him out.
Amy runs outside to call the police and they respond by say stay where you are as the trace
her phone call. She hears a noise room inside the building and sees that the kidnapper has
woken up so she runs and hides. Each time the kidnapper comes close to where she’s
hiding, she stays still each time and when gats further away she moves closer to the bared
fences where she can escape. She sees the police pull in at the abandoned building and she
makes a run for it and when the kidnapper is just about to catch her, she makes it to the
police officers and the kidnapper get arrested. The film end with Amy feeling like she can do
anything and knowing the fact that she is safe.
6. Target Audience/USP
The age rating for my filmwill be 15+ because the filmwill show scary scene that will not be
appropriate for a younger demographic. This film is for the people who want to be on the
edge of their seat and feel sympathetic to all of the protagonists. The film will rely on a non-
restrictive narrative to make the audience feel like that they will have to look after Amy as
she doesn’t know where the kidnapper is but they do and this will make the film stand out.
