This document provides details about the media pitch for a film called "Tightrope" that is a thriller/kidnapping movie. It summarizes the plot, which involves a student getting kidnapped by a psychopath after college. It also discusses the target audience as mainly teenagers and younger adults, aiming for social grades E and D. Research on similar movies like Taken and Kidnap is presented that influenced the creation of this film. A survey for primary research is outlined to gather information from potential viewers.
2. The Title my film is Tightrope the reason In which we chose this name is because our film is a thriller/Kidnap movie.
Our name fits in with the genre which we have chosen as because our name gives the audience imagery of a rope
which has been tied extremely tight which therefore suggests the the audience that the movie is based around a
kidnapping. Our film has been based around a student who had just finished college and was on there way back
home for the weekend and was suddenly kidnapped by a psychopath who had stalked her since she had walked out
of the college gates.
I have used this movie as inspiration when creating my movie poster. I have used this because the plot of this movie
it about a mother who goes wont stop until she gets her hands back on her child who is kidnapped outside of a
school. After she goes to pick her child and is told that somebody had picked him up she goes to her car and chases
them down after she sees them in the distance. This had been used because the synopsis of my movie is similar to
certain extent
3. Audience Profiling
I have decided to have my movie mainly directed towards a teenage and younger adult
demographic. I have chosen this demographic due to the fact that around 59% of users on the
internet are aged between 18 and 29 this information was found out at the beginning of 2020.
this information therefore led me to use this age demographic as my target audience. I have used
social grades when profiling my audience and I have decided that I will aim towards people of the
social grades E and D this is because the main demographic is students which will therefore fit
into this social grade because as well as the majority of people being at college and university they
may also have a part time job whilst being at college or university. The age in which I am targeting
is people aged around 16 to 29 due to around 59% being between this age range my movie is
aimed at both male and females this therefore creates a larger target audience. I am aiming this
towards any race as I don’t feel that a specific race should be singled out. As well as this the movie
will be suitable for people all around the world. The movie will also be aimed people who are
employed or unemployed this is mainly due to the fact that the audience in which I am trying to
target is more from a younger generation meaning that they may not be able to work and also
may be at colleges and university’s.
Psychographics
4. The plot of Taken seems rather similar to the movie which I am creating this is due to the fact that the genre of my movie is
slightly similar as they are both Action/Thriller movies the start of the movie is also rather similar to mine as somebody ends
up getting kidnapped and their father try's to track down her captors and rescue her. This movie is one of my main influences
for the creation of the movie due to the fact that the plots are rather similar and especially due to how successful this movie
was
I had also chose to look at the movie kidnap I had chosen to look at this movie due to the fact the this movie is partly similar
to my movie. I had also used this poster as influence due to fact that our target audience's would be rather similar due to the
fact that they are both action/thriller movies. This movie was also rather successful which means that the audience may
enjoy a movie such as mine which has a similar plot
I had also chosen to look at white house down the reason I decided to look at this is due to the fact that it is a world wide
film featuring some extremely famous actors such as Morgan Freeman this movie also has a plot in which somebody is
kidnapped/held hostage and then is saved by a hero. This movie is also a really successful movie which therefore made
me want to look at this poster even more
5. Primary Research
I had decided to create a survey for my primary research which I will give out to people and also upload to the internet in order
for people to fill out this is helpful due to the fact I get to establish the types of people who would watch my film
1) In what ways have you found out about movies in the past?
2)Do you have a specific genre which you prefer over other? If so please state.
3)Have you ever been convinced to watch a movie which hadn't originally planned on watching? If so what movie was it and did
you enjoy it?
4) What types of ways do you usually consume media?
