Treatment for idea 2
Working Title
My working title for this film is going to be ‘Missing’. This could be changed later if I think of
anything that suits my film better.
Length of film
I want the length of this filmto be between 10-15 minutes long as I want to build as much
tension throughout my filmso will need a good amount of time in order to do so. However, I
do not want to make the film too long and bore the audience so mustn’t stretch it out to
much.
Tagline
My tagline for my filmat the moment is going to be ‘Her screams go un-heard’. This will
work well with my short filmas it gives a brief overview of the script and how the filmwill
pan out.
Introduction to key characters
I am going to have 4 character playing in this short film. Firstly, my first character is going to
be the abductor which is going to be played by Zach Lillis. The abductor is going to be middle
aged and has a troubled background with his family rejecting him after he dropped out of
school. In the film the camera never shows his face until the end of the film hence building
tension from who he is throughout the film. Also, I am going to have two victims. The first
victim is going to be called Molly and who is going to be the one who we see get abducted
and tormented by the abductors. She is aged 18 and is an average girl who is a student at a
local university. The other victim is called Georgia who is 21 years old and been missing for
over a month when Molly is abducted. She is not shown until Molly is escaping at the end
when she has to decide to save herself or try and help Georgia who is very weak escape as
well. Molly is a very determined character who will not stop trying to get away until she has
nothing left in her.
Synopsis
Act 1
The filmis going to start with Molly walking home after a long day at college at around 6pm
when it is dark. She then takes a phone call from her mum and tell her that she is going to
be home soon and there is no need to worry. Then she turns into a dark ally and then she
suddenly gets knocked out and the screen goes blank. She then wakes up then next morning
with tape on her mouth and her hands tied up in an old wooden barn.
Act 2
She then tries to scream but no one can hear her screams and she starts to cry and the
camera fades out. There is a faint knocking sound in the background. Molly then manages to
cut her ropes off using a sharp piece of metal that was lying in the corner next to her. The

banging sound then start to increase in volume slightly and Molly tries to escape from the
barn. She notices she has blood all over her legs and bruises on her arms. While trying to
find an escape route the banging noise gets really loud in a room that she has just passed
and she hears faint screams. Molly can be seen to wanting to escape on her own but she
decides to open the door and find out what is behind it. She cautiously opens the door and
then she enters the room. The room is very dark and has a horrible smell. Molly then comes
across a girl lying in the corner very weak and covered in bruises and blood. She then helps
to free her but she is very weak and struggles to walk with her.
Act 3
As they escape from the barn a bang of a car door can be heard in the background. The
camera then switches to a male figure standing next to the car but the audience can only
see from his stomach downwards. Then we see a wooden bat in his hands come into view
and him walking towards the barn. Molly and the other girl who is called Georgia then run
towards the forest tree line while some dramatic music starts to play in the background.
They then dive into a ditch and try to hide from the abductor with Molly holding Georgia but
we can see she is very weak and in a lot of pain. Suddenly, we can hear leaves start to
crumble and braches starts to break as the man enters the forest where the girls are hiding.
We then see the girls in the ditch and the camera move up and see the man’s feet.
Somehow he doesn’t see them and carries on walking and the audience think that she is
safe. They then start to run in a different directions quietly. Georgia then collapse and Molly
starts to cry and help her up but she is cold to the touch. Then we see a figure standing
behind them and he knocks Molly out with a bat and the camera goes black leaving the
audience in suspense to what is going to happen to the girls.
Target audience
I think that my film is going to be aimed at slightly older audience as this may be hard for a
young audience as it may be too violent/scary for a younger less mature audience. The film
may be distressing and too violent for younger viewers so is why it is not aimed for them to
watch. The film may also connect to people on an emotional level through the pain and
distress of the actors within the film during their abduction. Furthermore, I would say that
this film could also be aimed at anyone on the NRS scale as this type of event could happen
to anyone so therefore this filmappeals to a wider range of people.
Form and style
In this short film I will be using a normal filming canon camera which is provided for us. Also,
I may also use a go pro to strap to Molly front when she is running away as a POV shot to
put the audience in her shoes and make them feel like they are there with her running away
from her captor. I also want to have an eerie effect in this filmso I could use like an old
rustic looking barn to shot the part of the film where the captor is holding them. This would
also make the place feel quite remote as if there is no escape and no one is coming to find

them. In addition, I will also have lots of close/medium shots of the victim in the film so I can
show the audience her true fear and torment she is going to go through in this film.
Market Place
I think this filmwould initially work well as a standalone film on YouTube but maybe later on
because the film will be left on a cliff hanger on whether the victims survive or not so have
another short film come out. Also, it would work well on YouTube or social media as will be
easy to access to watch so more people are able to watch the film. It may also do well as a
short filmat certain festivals that may have certain themes such as horror or action as this
film would suit that need in marketplace.
Script for scene:
Molly- Keep moving! Don’t stop, we need to lose him!
Molly- (breathing heavily) - Keep quiet and we will be safe, okay?
Georgia- (shakes her head to agree)
Molly- Let’s move now. Come on!
