3. Opening Scene
Before the beginning, we are shown the company logo of who
produced the film. We hear sounds like birds chirping and a
mild traffic.
Beginning
1. Establishing shot of the woodland area and the path the young girl
is walking upon.
2. Close up of the girl’s shoes as she walks down the path. We hear
the phone conversation with her mother, although we can only
see her.
3. Phone conversation continues. Medium shot of girl still walking
and talking on the phone. Woodland can be clearly seen behind
her.
4. After saying that she will be home soon, the girl jumps over a
fence, camera focuses on a non-entry sign, which the girl had not
seen.
5. Shot from somewhere in the bushes capturing the young girl
walking down the path, as if something is watching her. She ends
the call with her mother and we hear deep breathing coming from
an unknown source.
6. Girl starts looking through her bag and pockets, a medium shot of
her and a close up of her bag/pockets. Suspenseful music begins.
She stops when she hears a twig snap. She looks behind her
quickly.
7. Music gets more powerful. Medium shot of her upper body as she
looks forward again and we see her looking confused and slightly
worried. Loud rustling of bushes and leafs –
8. Shot quickly switches to far away camera angle of her looking over
to camera (i.e. where the noise came from). During the jump cut
from the previous shot, she quickly turns again (her whole body
this time)but sees nothing. Music ends abruptly.
Middle
1. Medium shot of girl as she begins to walk more quickly, we can
see the path behind her.
4. 2. Shot stays the same as she starts to run. Music picks up again.
3. Music reaches it’s climax and suddenly we an unknown figure grab
the girl. She screams.
4. The shot changes to an over-the-shoulder shot of a young boy
moving away from the girl (camera is behind the girl). The boy is
laughing and he taunts her in a friendly way.
5. Shot changes to a close-up of her, she looks angry with him and
she scolds him for scaring her. She pushes him away playfully.
6. They talk briefly, close up of the boy’s face.
7. Talking continues, close up of the girls face.
End
1. The two walk together. The shot is of them walking towards the
camera. The boy is talking.
2. Close up of the girl smiling.
3. Close up of the boy who asks the girl if he can ask her something.
4. They stop walking, close up of the girl as she gives him permission
to ask her anything. (It’s clear he wants to ask her out).
5. Close up of the boy speaking.
6. As he speaks, extreme close up of the girl’s facial expression.
7. Medium shot of the boys as he speaks but in mid-sentence he
becomes motionless as we hear a slashing sound. Silence is
dominant as he slowly falls to the ground. Behind him a man in an
animalistic mask holding a large knife is seen, (previously the boy
hid him from view).
8. Close up of the girl who looks very scared as she backs away.
9. Low angle shot looing up at the killer in a dominating manor.
10.Long shot of the girl and the killer. She runs away, towards the
camera. Fast paced music begins – it sounds slightly disorientated.
11.She is running and we only see her from the side in the camera
shot.
12.Long shot shows her running into a brick wall.
13.Medium shot a she presses against it for a second. Realizing she
must find another way she starts to run again.
14.Wide shot as she jumps the fence again. We can see the boy’s
body in the distance but the killer is nowhere to be seen.
15. Camera shot is from the view of a car as the girl runs onto the
road, quickly we hear breaking, screaming and a car horn but just
before the car hits her, the screen goes black.
