The document pitches a short film called "Lilo to Hell" that follows a tourist named Darren who falls asleep on a beach and dreams of the perfect vacation that turns into a nightmare. The 5-10 minute film would have a comedic yet psychological thriller genre. It would target teenagers and young adults. Scenes would be filmed using drones, underwater cameras, and point of view shots to build tension. Sample beach sound effects were included to set the scene.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

FILM IDEA 2
‘LILO TO HELL’
A TOURIST’S DREAM TURNED INTO ONE BIG NIGHTMARE
2. MEDIA PITCH LUCY CLAYTON
LENGTH OF FILM:
A short film with a running time between 5-10 minutes.
GENRE:
Psychological thriller/ comedy (comedic elements)
TAGLINE:
A tourist’s dream turned into one big nightmare.
This film is unique and the tagline explains the plotin one small sentence which I think works really well
as it lures the audience into the plotbefore the film even begins.
3. MEDIA PITCH LUCY CLAYTON
CHARACTER PROFILES:
Main Character:
Darren, ‘The Tourist’
My film will predominantly include an adult male, dressed in bright, tacky, touristoutfit such as a
Hawaiian shirt and perhaps tightswimming trunks.
He would be dressed like this to add to the comedic elements the film will include, as it is something a
stereotypical ‘bad’ touristwould wear.
The main prop which will add to his ‘costume’ is a blow up lilo, which he will be lying on throughoutthe
short film, adding notonly to the comedic side, butto his outfit to make him even more ofa
stereotypical tourist.
The Children:
The children within ‘Lilo To Hell’ include a boy and a girl aged around 5-10 years of age and are also on
holiday with Darren, their father. They are dressed in beachwear, swimming costumes, hats,
sunglasses etc.
4. MEDIA PITCH LUCY CLAYTON
SYNOPSIS:
ACT 1:
The film will start with drone shots and fast panning shots of the sea, showing seagulls, fish, seaweed,
sand, the cloudy butlightsky and mostimportantly, the main character, Darren lying on his blow up lilo,
asleep. The location is quietand seems to only have Darren, his family and only a couple ofother
people on the beach. The film progresses where Darren is now in deep sleep, and slips into a ‘dream.’
ACT 2:
The dream is an ideal setting for Darren and his family, where it shows a beautiful desertisland,
coconuts in the trees and gorgeous sunshine, where he can have an extremely peaceful and enjoyable
holiday. It leads to him on the beach, building sandcastles and having and pleasurable time with his
family doing everything you could dream ofon holiday.
These scenes have a slightyellowy tone and the transitions from the normal real-life setting to the
dream is blurred like a typical ‘dream’ in television programmes.
ACT 3:
After the lovely shots ofDarren and his family having a great time on holiday in his ‘dream’, here comes
the hell. A huge storm takes over the island, making the tone of the film turn deadly and tense, followed
by an enormous animal from either land or sea comes and attacks Darren and there is an epic chase
scene which is where the thriller side ofthe genre comes into the film. This is when Darren is left with a
scar/cut on his arm which will link to the end clip.
The end scene is when the ‘attack’ gets to the pointwhere the ‘dream’ that has now turned into a
nightmare, is at breaking pointand where a serious injury/death would have occurred, before a quick
sudden change to Darren, lying on his lilo, the exactsame type clip and angle as the beginning.
However, the plottwist is that there is the same scar/cutin the exactsame place as the attack scar in
the nightmare, or finds a certain objectthat links to the nightmare, leaving the audience to think to
themselves and ask themselves questions such as:
Was this all real life? Was the nightmare real? What happened? Is he still in the dream? Is it all going to
happen again?

TARGET AUDIENCE
My target audience will predominantly be aimed atteenagers to young adults. This is because itisn’t
hugely complicated to understand and does notinclude highly graphic scenes, therefore suitable for
children. The film is also suitable for this age group because they would be able to find the comedic
elementofthe film funnier and more relatable as the children are younger, the ideal holiday is exactly
what young viewers see as their perfectholiday and will be able to relate to Darren’s dream more.
On the NRS scale, the target audience would be putinto categories from D-B, which represents
working class to middle class, mainly because there is no class that isn’t suitable to watch this.
On the 4Cs scale, the target audience would be aimed more for ‘The Reformers’ or ‘The Explorers’.
This is because ‘The Reformers’ key need is enlightenment, and they would not only find this by
figuring out the plottwist and what happens to the main character, but they would also be able to find
enlightenmentby the comedic elements ofthe character’s clothes and funny atmosphere atthe
beginning ofthe film. ‘The Explorers’ are a perfecttarget audience, as they have a need for discovery
and challenge, therefore would love to find outwhat happens within the plot and therefore appreciate
the task.

FORM AND STYLE:
The form and style of ‘Lilo To Hell’ would be clear, comedic, precise butalso thrilling.
The camera angles that would be extremely interesting to work with and use, are establishing shots,
birds eye view shots and drone shots ofthe sea, with the one brighttourist in the middle ofthe blue
water, as this would emphasise the quietatmosphere, butalso emphasises the bright, bold, slightly
stupid looking man in the middle ofthe water.
Another camera angle that would look perfectin a shortfilm such as ‘Lilo To Hell’, would be underwater
shots and pointofview shots. This is so not only does itshow the setting and show shots including fish
and underwater life and perhaps the pointof view ofa certain monster seeing Darren from underwater,
but a pointof view shotof the ‘attack scene’ ofDarren running away, as it will add tension to the
audience and therefore will add more to the thriller theme.
It will be filmed on a Canon Camera, as it has high quality which is what I am looking for, and different
lenses to help with perspectives ofthe characters and lets the setting come alive.
The genre I want to try and recreate is a psychological thriller, this is so the film leaves the audience
even more interested than when it began, and leaves them with so many logical questions and
thoughts afterwards, making them want to watch the film again and again.
I also think a slight comedic elementto the film makes the audience even more interested to watch the
film as they will be excited to see something funny coming up in the scenes, and also achieve diversion
because ofthis, making them feel at ease and escape from everyday problems.

MARKETPLACE:
Within the film industry market, I see my film being shown predominantly in cinemas or at movie events
such as movie nights with all of the family. Therefore, it involves the whole family as it is something that
can be enjoyed by everyone.
I feel as if there isn’t huge scope for a series for this film, however something could be changed such as
the lilo, or the attack scene could be completely differentto change the end ofthe film, leaving multiple
cliff-hangers for the audience.

SAMPLE PRE-PRODUCTION MATERIAL:
FREESOUND- Waters Of Cyprus - Beach
I have chosen this sound to add to the background ofmy film, as it has the sound effects ofwaves
which makes the location feel even more realistic. It has no lyrics as I feel as if this would make it too
distracting for the audience and also wouldn’tbe able to hear the dialogue over the top ofthis too.
