BRIEF
By Ilya Bojarskis
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
 I will be making a short movie called “The Devil’s Playground” which will be based
on teenagers safety around strangers, which would inspire them to be more
careful since they will see the worst of the outcomes.Teenagers getting kicked
out from school and then leading them to join criminal gangs, etc. Making the
young adults not turn into roadmen and druggies into actual people that can be
trusted by society. My film will be about 3 girls that went to a house party of
strangers they were invited by one of their “stranger-friends” on Facebook, where
they end up getting drunk then getting kidnapped.
TARGET AUDIENCE
 My target audience will be teenagers, 14-16 yr. olds, because a lot of teenagers or
pupil around this age get into trouble due to changes in their mentality and
puberty.Teenagers also get into more trouble with strangers so this short scary
but true video should aspire them to change or think twice before doing
something risky like taking something from a stranger. Other ages will find the
short horror film scary like 12 yr. olds or lower that could traumatize them for
some time.Young pupil would not get short inspiring films only teens or older
would understand the message.
TARGET AUDIENCE PT.2
 This is mainly aimed at people in a “Lower Class” and the “Poor” or “Near Poor” class since they
would experience a lot of issues and tough roads in life unlike the “Upper Class” or the “Rich” class
since they will have a good life most likely because most things would be handed not in a rude way
but the family would always have that lively feeling. If the people get into these issues money can
always be used to resolve it. People in a “Lower Class” would have to start from the bottom and get
to something without much help but more motivation to get somewhere.
 The reason I say it’s mainly aimed at people from the “Poor” or “Near Poor” class because the movie
would actually affect them and inspire them unlike the rich people which wouldn’t get inspired only
if there going through issues. Since the brief tells me to make it for teenagers (14-16yr) olds.
PURPOSE OF PRODUCT
 Purpose of the product is to aspire teenagers (14-16yr olds) to dodge all the
dangerous tricky and sticky situations with strangers, and to teach them to be more
safe and not trust people you don’t really know with anything. It is an educational
product that we are making to influence people and benefit ourselves by knowing
that we changed lives or maybe even saved some! Also to make some money or
gained respect and attention from different companies so we can start working for
them or make movies for them kind of expand our business by showing what we
can make.
PURPOSE OF PRODUCT PT.2
 The brief tells me to make the short inspiring film a horror genre. The reason I will
be making it a horror movie since horror movies even short ones create a lot of
tension and suspension and it’s good way of sending a short message, but a big
one in reality.
PLATFORMS FOR DISTRIBUTION AND
CONSUMPTION
 The platforms that I will use to distribute this short film is mainlyYouTube for the
moment that is available on PC,Tablet and Console. It’s a good way of distributing
the short horror film called “The Devil’s Playground” since it’s easy to find and
view, and a popular platform to distribute products such as short films and videos
of any genre. Also so our “viewers” can get easy access to consume it.
PLATFORMS FOR DISTRIBUTION AND
CONSUMPTION PT.2
 Another platform I could use for distributing the short movie would be iTunes
since for the people to view the movies they would have to buy it first which
would be a huge benefit for out future projects.
TASK 2
By Ilya Bojarskis
PROMOTIONAL
 Fairy liquid advert 1991: It’s purpose is to make a good promotional video to sell it
, it’s target audience are families which means everyone in the family but mainly
the mother since she is seen cleaning the dishes. The genre is drama/advertising
and narrative as seen the mother and the child playing “I spy with my little eye”
and seen having fun. Mode of address is to Address the audience in a very aspiring
way to create a bond between the audience to buy this product. Representation is
stereotypical, old fashioned and has the little female child which makes it
stereotypical.
FICTIONAL
 Raiders of the Lost Ark - Golden Idol and Boulder Scene: It’s fictional since it’s a made up
film with a made up plot, fictional is used pretty much all the time in like Hollywood films,
action films, all of the entertainment genre’s. In films except when films are remaking
history which usually are not fictional. The purpose of the narrative is to support the
genre, and in this case it’s a quest to find the lost treasure which is the lost idol, using
action and adventure genre. The genre is seen with use of explosions, fight scene,
international scenes. The scene is to create tension when he tries to steal the idol from the
boggy trapped temple which shows him going past traps and him trying to escape.
FICTIONAL PT.2
 Mode of address is creating suspension in the audience to create a great amazing scene
with a lot of tension, the scene tries to create adrenaline because so many crazy things are
happening at once. Stars that are used are “Harrison Ford” as Indiana jones which is the
main character in the movie franchise. Mode of address is first and second. The
representation is to show that “Harrison Ford” Indiana jones is portrayed as a hero
character, like saving a female character as an example. His also seen as a very funny
character In a way making the dangerous scenes dangerous as also funny.
FACTUAL
 World's Most Powerful Predator - Life of Mammals – BBC video: It’s about the life
of tigers.Which states facts about them which it’s purpose is to educate pupil
about the wildlife and it’s dangers. It’s main target audience are young people
which would be interested in this program. Since they are growing up seeing new
things. Narrative is the story of the tigers and their survival in the forest. The
genre used is the documentary which is narrated by a very knownTV star man,
DavidAttenborough. Mode of address would be that it’s educating people in a
kind way like being close to the animals and stating facts about them, as seen in
the video, saying where they came from, had a bad start but a good future!
By Ilya Bojarskis
CAMERAWORK
 Camerawork has a lot to do with films, videos, media etc. Camerawork is used in films to
make the scenes look better then they already do and create tension. Such as a “Low
angle shot” that is taken from under the character so the camera is focusing on to make
the character look more powerful, and add tension to the audience or a point of view of a
character. Basically used in a film to make a character/characters look more powerful. In
this scene the male character named “Alex Browning” that is seen powerful in this scene
since his the only one that can help the female character “Mrs. Lewton” this can also be
seen as an “Eye-level shot” since it’s a perfect angle for the audience and since this is a
horror movie it tries to bring and connect the audience to the film as much as possible.
CAMERAWORK
 Picture one is a panning shot since it’s following the trail of vodka that is catching fire and
following the female character named “Ms. Lewton”. Since she dropped a trail of vodka
when she was going to her computer. Picture 2 is a mid close up of showing her bleeding
from her neck and shows she is bleeding badly.
Picture 1 Picture 2
CAMERA SHOTS
Close up shot Establishing shot High angle shot
This shot is to show some
thing up close to show it’s
expression or if it’s an item
it’s detail and adds a
comfortable feeling.
This shot is to show where
the scene will happen or
happening to establish
everything with in.
To show her vulnerability
showing that she is weak
and can’t do anything at this
very moment.
EDITING
 The editing has a lot of cuts in one scene to show a lot of detail, about the scene that will
later come in affect. Such as many cuts while she is trying to get to the kitchen with the
bleeding neck. Then she leaves some blood on the counter to make the scene as horrifying
as possible. Then it cuts to the computer sparks igniting the vodka trail that gets followed
by the camera. Special effects such as fake sparks as seen from the picture.Transitions are
very fast.
SOUND
 There are two types of sound, diegetic sound and non-diegetic sound. Diegetic
sound is the sound that the audience can hear and the characters within the
media product “the film” non-diegetic sound is the music added within editing
which means the characters cannot. In the scene of Ms. Lewtons death where
there is music playing, not the sound record that she can hear as well as the
audience but there's a different kind of music playing over that an eerie type when
the computer screen goes in her neck. A diegetic sound in that scene would be the
computer exploding. Sound effects such as the explosion of the computer.
Computer exploding Scary eerie music
MISE EN SCENE
 Mise-en-scene is the arrangement of the scenery, props, etc. on the stage of a
theatrical production or on the set of a film.
 the setting or surroundings of an event. Like costumes lighting everything.
 These are some of the props that created the scene and made it horrifying.
Cup of vodka Computer Knives
Main reason of her
beginning of her end.
Horror convention prop,
very Hollywood like.
Main reason of the
computer exploding,
alcohol.
MISE-EN-SCENE
 The characters used in this scene is a female character which is the victim and that
is really typical in horror convention movies. Costumes are typical and casual. The
lighting is low-key outside but high key inside. To show the scenery so people can
see the room clearly, props and the blood.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION  I will be making a short movie called “The Devil’s Playground” which will be based on teenagers safety around strangers, which would inspire them to be more careful since they will see the worst of the outcomes.Teenagers getting kicked out from school and then leading them to join criminal gangs, etc. Making the young adults not turn into roadmen and druggies into actual people that can be trusted by society. My film will be about 3 girls that went to a house party of strangers they were invited by one of their “stranger-friends” on Facebook, where they end up getting drunk then getting kidnapped.
  • 3. TARGET AUDIENCE  My target audience will be teenagers, 14-16 yr. olds, because a lot of teenagers or pupil around this age get into trouble due to changes in their mentality and puberty.Teenagers also get into more trouble with strangers so this short scary but true video should aspire them to change or think twice before doing something risky like taking something from a stranger. Other ages will find the short horror film scary like 12 yr. olds or lower that could traumatize them for some time.Young pupil would not get short inspiring films only teens or older would understand the message.
  • 4. TARGET AUDIENCE PT.2  This is mainly aimed at people in a “Lower Class” and the “Poor” or “Near Poor” class since they would experience a lot of issues and tough roads in life unlike the “Upper Class” or the “Rich” class since they will have a good life most likely because most things would be handed not in a rude way but the family would always have that lively feeling. If the people get into these issues money can always be used to resolve it. People in a “Lower Class” would have to start from the bottom and get to something without much help but more motivation to get somewhere.  The reason I say it’s mainly aimed at people from the “Poor” or “Near Poor” class because the movie would actually affect them and inspire them unlike the rich people which wouldn’t get inspired only if there going through issues. Since the brief tells me to make it for teenagers (14-16yr) olds.
  • 5. PURPOSE OF PRODUCT  Purpose of the product is to aspire teenagers (14-16yr olds) to dodge all the dangerous tricky and sticky situations with strangers, and to teach them to be more safe and not trust people you don’t really know with anything. It is an educational product that we are making to influence people and benefit ourselves by knowing that we changed lives or maybe even saved some! Also to make some money or gained respect and attention from different companies so we can start working for them or make movies for them kind of expand our business by showing what we can make.
  • 6. PURPOSE OF PRODUCT PT.2  The brief tells me to make the short inspiring film a horror genre. The reason I will be making it a horror movie since horror movies even short ones create a lot of tension and suspension and it’s good way of sending a short message, but a big one in reality.
  • 7. PLATFORMS FOR DISTRIBUTION AND CONSUMPTION  The platforms that I will use to distribute this short film is mainlyYouTube for the moment that is available on PC,Tablet and Console. It’s a good way of distributing the short horror film called “The Devil’s Playground” since it’s easy to find and view, and a popular platform to distribute products such as short films and videos of any genre. Also so our “viewers” can get easy access to consume it.
  • 8. PLATFORMS FOR DISTRIBUTION AND CONSUMPTION PT.2  Another platform I could use for distributing the short movie would be iTunes since for the people to view the movies they would have to buy it first which would be a huge benefit for out future projects.
  • 9. TASK 2 By Ilya Bojarskis
  • 10. PROMOTIONAL  Fairy liquid advert 1991: It’s purpose is to make a good promotional video to sell it , it’s target audience are families which means everyone in the family but mainly the mother since she is seen cleaning the dishes. The genre is drama/advertising and narrative as seen the mother and the child playing “I spy with my little eye” and seen having fun. Mode of address is to Address the audience in a very aspiring way to create a bond between the audience to buy this product. Representation is stereotypical, old fashioned and has the little female child which makes it stereotypical.
  • 11. FICTIONAL  Raiders of the Lost Ark - Golden Idol and Boulder Scene: It’s fictional since it’s a made up film with a made up plot, fictional is used pretty much all the time in like Hollywood films, action films, all of the entertainment genre’s. In films except when films are remaking history which usually are not fictional. The purpose of the narrative is to support the genre, and in this case it’s a quest to find the lost treasure which is the lost idol, using action and adventure genre. The genre is seen with use of explosions, fight scene, international scenes. The scene is to create tension when he tries to steal the idol from the boggy trapped temple which shows him going past traps and him trying to escape.
  • 12. FICTIONAL PT.2  Mode of address is creating suspension in the audience to create a great amazing scene with a lot of tension, the scene tries to create adrenaline because so many crazy things are happening at once. Stars that are used are “Harrison Ford” as Indiana jones which is the main character in the movie franchise. Mode of address is first and second. The representation is to show that “Harrison Ford” Indiana jones is portrayed as a hero character, like saving a female character as an example. His also seen as a very funny character In a way making the dangerous scenes dangerous as also funny.
  • 13. FACTUAL  World's Most Powerful Predator - Life of Mammals – BBC video: It’s about the life of tigers.Which states facts about them which it’s purpose is to educate pupil about the wildlife and it’s dangers. It’s main target audience are young people which would be interested in this program. Since they are growing up seeing new things. Narrative is the story of the tigers and their survival in the forest. The genre used is the documentary which is narrated by a very knownTV star man, DavidAttenborough. Mode of address would be that it’s educating people in a kind way like being close to the animals and stating facts about them, as seen in the video, saying where they came from, had a bad start but a good future!
  • 15. CAMERAWORK  Camerawork has a lot to do with films, videos, media etc. Camerawork is used in films to make the scenes look better then they already do and create tension. Such as a “Low angle shot” that is taken from under the character so the camera is focusing on to make the character look more powerful, and add tension to the audience or a point of view of a character. Basically used in a film to make a character/characters look more powerful. In this scene the male character named “Alex Browning” that is seen powerful in this scene since his the only one that can help the female character “Mrs. Lewton” this can also be seen as an “Eye-level shot” since it’s a perfect angle for the audience and since this is a horror movie it tries to bring and connect the audience to the film as much as possible.
  • 16. CAMERAWORK  Picture one is a panning shot since it’s following the trail of vodka that is catching fire and following the female character named “Ms. Lewton”. Since she dropped a trail of vodka when she was going to her computer. Picture 2 is a mid close up of showing her bleeding from her neck and shows she is bleeding badly. Picture 1 Picture 2
  • 17. CAMERA SHOTS Close up shot Establishing shot High angle shot This shot is to show some thing up close to show it’s expression or if it’s an item it’s detail and adds a comfortable feeling. This shot is to show where the scene will happen or happening to establish everything with in. To show her vulnerability showing that she is weak and can’t do anything at this very moment.
  • 18. EDITING  The editing has a lot of cuts in one scene to show a lot of detail, about the scene that will later come in affect. Such as many cuts while she is trying to get to the kitchen with the bleeding neck. Then she leaves some blood on the counter to make the scene as horrifying as possible. Then it cuts to the computer sparks igniting the vodka trail that gets followed by the camera. Special effects such as fake sparks as seen from the picture.Transitions are very fast.
  • 19. SOUND  There are two types of sound, diegetic sound and non-diegetic sound. Diegetic sound is the sound that the audience can hear and the characters within the media product “the film” non-diegetic sound is the music added within editing which means the characters cannot. In the scene of Ms. Lewtons death where there is music playing, not the sound record that she can hear as well as the audience but there's a different kind of music playing over that an eerie type when the computer screen goes in her neck. A diegetic sound in that scene would be the computer exploding. Sound effects such as the explosion of the computer. Computer exploding Scary eerie music
  • 20. MISE EN SCENE  Mise-en-scene is the arrangement of the scenery, props, etc. on the stage of a theatrical production or on the set of a film.  the setting or surroundings of an event. Like costumes lighting everything.  These are some of the props that created the scene and made it horrifying. Cup of vodka Computer Knives Main reason of her beginning of her end. Horror convention prop, very Hollywood like. Main reason of the computer exploding, alcohol.
  • 21. MISE-EN-SCENE  The characters used in this scene is a female character which is the victim and that is really typical in horror convention movies. Costumes are typical and casual. The lighting is low-key outside but high key inside. To show the scenery so people can see the room clearly, props and the blood.
