The document discusses how the student incorporated audience feedback into improving their local sports newspaper project at various stages of development. This included redesigning the masthead based on feedback that it needed livelier fonts and colors to stand out more. Feedback also informed changes to page layouts, photo selection and content, and story topics to better suit the target audience and focus more on local rather than national sports news. Gathering this feedback was valuable for enhancing the professionalism and appeal of the final newspaper product.
“Without changing our patterns of thought, we will not be able to solve the problems we created with our current patterns of thought.”
- Albert Einstein
Discussions between chief financial officers (CFOs) and heads of IT departments most often center on the the funding of projects, or need to continue funding, as if a simple commodity-based relationship existed between fiscal outlay and value received. But this “pattern of thought,” to use Einstein’s term, hinders a much more productive mode of discussion that these two business leaders might engage in. In this paper, I will illustrate a new way of thinking about the funding of IT software projects, one that considers funding in terms of investment, and value as an expansive, longitudinal variable.

The author wants to incorporate useful features like sections for top stories and live links when designing their own local sports website.

1) Define clear objectives for social media use and determine the relevant audience.
2) Evaluate which social media platforms best suit the objectives and where the audience engages.
3) Create and share engaging, value-added content on social media that is consistent with overall communications strategies.
