Cashgate Scandal Malawi:Introduction On Fashion And Designing Concepts In Fas...Joseph Jacob Esther
The short answer is yes. The extraordinary success of Karl Ove Knausgård and Elena Ferrante in recent years is proof that fiction from other lands has a global following. Last year a new report from Literature Across Frontiers (LAF) finally put some figures on this. The statistics show a steady growth of literary translations over the past two decades, both in absolute numbers and as a share of the whole. The number of literary translations into English grew by two-thirds between 1990 and 2012, accounting for a peak of 5.23% of the whole in 2011 against an average of just 3%. Specialist foreign-fiction publishers, such as Quercus, Pereine and Pushkin, have all sprung up in the past decade or so.

2. ACCESSORIES
An interchangeable term for additional ornamentation.
Accessories often contribute to creating a more fashionable or
dimensional look.
Often used to describe everything from belts, scarves and socks
to sunglasses, jewellery, watches etc.
3. ANORAK
The distinction between anorak and parka is, strictly speaking, still maintained.
Invented by the Caribou Inuit, the anorak is a waterproof, hooded jacket with
drawstrings at the waist and cuff.
The parka is a longer, knee-length jacket suitable for cold weather. While the
hood is fur lined, the jacket itself is stuffed with down feathers or a very warm
synthetic fiber.
4. AVIATORS
A sunglasses silhouette originally developed for military pilots,
hence the name.
Worn slavishly since the 1960s, the classic teardrop shaped
frames have seen their popularity soar due to continued celebrity
use and films such as Top Gun.
5. ABSTRACT
Unrecognizable forms and layouts. In the Fashion textile business
the word "abstract" is used to describe a nonobjective motif that
cannot be described any other way.
12. ALLOVER
A layout in which motifs are fairly close and evenly distributed as opposed to stripes,
borders, plaids, and engineered designs. Another term is overall.
14. ANTHEMION
A classical motif based on a stylized honeysuckle plant or a radiating, fan-shaped palm
leaf (palmette) commonly found in Greek, Egyptian, Assyrian, and other ancient
15. ARABESQUE
An elaborate ornamental design of intertwined curvilinear floral or geometric motifs.
Commonly comes from (or inspired by) Islamic art or architecture. See also
16. ARGYLE
A pattern of diamond-shaped rectangles in a diagonal alternating (checkerboard)
arrangement. Typically uses a small number (two or three) colors. Mostly used in knitted
fabrics. An alternative spelling is Argyll.
17. ART DECO
A style of decorative art typical of the 1920s and 1930s. The name was derived from the
1925 International Exhibition in Paris that showed "des Arts Decoratifs."
18. ART NOUVEAU
A design style of the late 19th century characterized by dynamic, flowing curves
suggesting foliate motifs.
22. AWNING STRIPES
A pattern of relatively wide, even, usually vertical stripes of solid color on a lighter
ground. Resembles the pattern on awning fabrics.
24. AVANT GARDE
A layout in which motifs are fairly close and evenly distributed as opposed to stripes,
borders, plaids, and engineered designs. Another term is overall.
26. ARI
Aari work is embroidery design work in which beads and muthia, a sharp edged needle is put to
work, which creatively gives rise to chain stitch
27. APPLIQUÉ
sew or stick pieces of fabric on to (a garment or larger piece of fabric) to form pictures or
patterns.
28. ASSORTMENT
An apparel retailer’s assortment is defined by the type of products that are
carried in each store at a particular point in time. Assortment planning is
the process of determining the most appropriate merchandise to make up
the stores assortment. The primary goal of assortment planning is to specify
an assortment that will maximize the clothing stores sales or gross
margin. Many issues must be considered for a store to make a proper
determination. The thought process and decision is typically subject to
several various conditions. These conditions may include issues such as a
limited budget for purchase of products, limited available shelf space for
displaying products, seasonal items, holiday selling cycles, and a variety of
other miscellaneous constraints.
Clearly the assortment of merchandise a retailer carries in their brick &
mortar store or online has a significant impact on sales and profit. Obviously
a buyer does not want to have a large inventory of Christmas sweaters for
sale in July. Determining “what product" and “how much product" is critical
to success
29. Athleisure wear
Athleisure wear is a moniker combining athletics and leisure. Performance and sports-inspired
clothes for everyday casualwear.
