Use of Facebook Tool
 Social Networking Site with over 1 billion users
 Users consist of anyone from kids to elderly people and all types of business
and companies ranging from small businesses to large corporations
 Anyone can sign up and create a “page” to their preference
 Used to connect with friends and family on a page
 People can view your page to comment, like, or share topics, pictures, videos,
and any information you have posted
 Page Insights that display the activity that happens on your page
 Private groups where you can communicate, download, upload, share videos
or pictures, and exchanges messages with individuals or businesses
 Businesses advertise, promote, and provide information pertaining to the
nature of their business while making it all available to the public
 Opportunity to buy advertisement or promoted posts (posts that are
displayed on a newsfeed to promote a business/product)
MarketingApplications and Risks
 Targeted premium ads are displayed for businesses on the right sidebar
which is seen by an users of the Facebook Tool
 Businesses can run contests, announce special deals, and provide new
announcements
 Business pages can have a quick link to their direct website which can
increase sales
 Apps are advertised through Facebook which can then be downloaded from
anyone and most companies offer in app purchases which also can increase
sales
 Some apps offer interactions between you and your Facebook friends to
create entertainment
 Networking amongst businesses and clients increase business and Public
Relations increases
 Advertising costs are decreased opposed to paying for commercials and
billboards but exposure to the public is maximized
 Business pages can be commented on from anyone so any feedback,
including the negative, can be posted about the business
 Advertisements can be perceived in a way that may offend someone since
most advertisements are just pictures or words
 A businesses page could be hacked and damage could be done
 Can’t localize a message to target audiences
