Facebook’s recent changes mean you won’t get
as many Likes for your ad spend as in previous
years however this is a great way to build your
audience. It would pay to enlist the help of an

GET PEOPLE TALKING
‘Talking About’ is the number of unique Facebook users,
who have interacted in one way or another with your page in
the last seven days. So, how do you increase this number?
• Increase the frequency – Try to share something with
your fans at least four or five times per week!
• Share different types of content – post a funny picture,
ask a question, post a quote or why not a ‘did-you-
know’ kind of post with no links in it.
• Design a good call to action but don’t specifically ask for
LIKES, SHARES or COMMENTS – Get your audience to
engage by asking a question that sparks nostalgia or a
feel good moment. The more you can tap into what your
audience likes the better the response.
• To increase comments you could say something along
the lines of “I need some help choosing my album
artwork. Which one do you prefer?” or “We’d love to
hear your thoughts on our new packaging”.

• Use apps to collect data and grow
your email list.
• Use apps to run your competitions and
promotions.

and target your ideal customer or client.

MORE SIMPLE TIPS
• Use a calendar to plan your posts and content for the
week/month.
• Post a variety of content - informative, funny, creative,
questions, images, videos, offers.
• Keep your posts between 100 and 250 characters. The
shorter, sharper posts tend to get more engagement.
• Use images in your posts, they get 30% more
engagement than posts without images.
• Ask your audience to share their thoughts and feedback
on your products and services. This could help you
improve your business.
• Use links to drive traffic to your website.
LOOKOUT FOR CHANGES
You thought you had Facebook on lock then they decided to
mix it up again. Here are some changes to look out for:
Like-Baiting: Posts that explicitly ask fans to ‘like’, comment or
share a post are known as ‘like-bait’. Facebook is cracking
down on pages that do this regularly so make sure you change
up your content and the way you post. Post interesting content
and your fans will automatically Like and Comment.
Frequently Recycled Content: Facebook doesn’t want pages
to share frequently-circulated content to the exclusion of any of
their own. Make sure you circulate your own unique content
and reduce the amount of content already shared by other
pages.
A New Look for Facebook Ads: Facebook ads will soon be
bigger and will mirror the look of regular newsfeed images. This
is great news for advertisers, but it could mean advertising rates
go up due to the increased competition for fewer spots.
