3. The recent Facebook privacy scandal, in which a
political firm acquired the private information of
more than 80 million Facebook users, has
created a headache for a lot of people. In fact,
the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is
investigating Facebook as a result of the
scandal. This will have a short-term​ and long-
term implication for companies that collect and
use private data, and the users who provide it.

4.  The recent FB scandal has caused a havoc in the
world many user are worried about their privacy
and huge number of companies, famous
personalities have tended to quit from facebook it
has caused a state of horror in the mind of millions
of people.

7. PROCESS
 Alexander Kogan, a data scientist at Cambridge
University, developed an app called "This Is Your
Digital Life". He provided app to Cambridge
Analytica. Cambridge Analytica in turn arranged
an informed consent process for research in which
several hundred thousand Facebook users would
agree to complete a survey only for academic
use.

 However, Facebook's design allowed this app to
not only collect the personal information of
people who agreed to take the survey, but also
the personal information of all the people in
those users' Facebook social network. In this way
Cambridge Analytica acquired data from millions
of Facebook users.

11. IMPACT OF DATA SCANDAL
 Human have become more vigilant regarding their data
privacy and organisations need to understand this notion
and begin to take data security seriously, especially with
data protection laws coming into force like the European
General Data Protection Regulation. Richard Holmes,
cyber services lead at CGI UK touched on this fact stating,
"GDPR demands that organizations have a legal basis for
processing personal information. Individuals will
increasingly demand to know how their data is used and
where it is shared. Terms and conditions of collecting and
processing personal information will need to be much
clearer to meet this demand."

13. RESPONSE OF ZUCKERBERG
 Facebook director Mark Zuckerberg first
apologized for the situation with Cambridge
Analytica on CNN, calling it a "issue" , a "mistake"
and a "breach of trust".
 Other Facebook officials argued against calling it
a "data breach", arguing those who took the
personality quiz originally consented to give away
their information.

 Zuckerberg wrote. . "We have a responsibility to
protect your data, and if we can't then we don't
deserve to serve you". & "We also made mistakes,
there's more to do, and we need to set up and do
it".
 Zuckerberg has apologized in front of US Congress
for the data misused by third party.

15. RESPONSE OF CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA
 Cambridge Analytica says the company has done
nothing wrong and, so far, has appeared to
cooperate with investigations.
 Cambridge Analytica said Whistleblower
Christopher Wylei is misrepresenting himself and
the company and strongly denies the claims made
by The New York Times, The Guardian and
Channel 4 News.

16. CONCLUSION
 For starter facebook is going to audit apps.
 Facebook is going to restrict developers access.
 Facebook will show user tool to the user to help
them see what apps are using their data and how
they can stop them.
 Stock price dropped by 19% and the decline which
erased about 120billion market value.
 Active user grew by just 22million , the lowest
such number since at least 2011.
